[SP-F2] {Feeding the Enemy} - Complete

Recommended Posts

Seldentar starts his day deciding to explore floor two a bit more. He was always looking for rare crafting materials, but had to keep reminding himself that just being a crafter wasnt going to be enough. He had limited combat skills, but he had to perfect those if he wanted to ever join the front lines. He hummed a song to himself as he walked, enjoying the breeze on his face as he entered a forest area. Walking along, he suddenly noticed a small fox in the path up ahead. Hesitatingly, he draws his sword. He had a thing about hurting animals, but this was a game after all, and it wasn't real. It was just created by the system to try to kill him and steal the rest of his hit points.

As he cautiously walked forward, the Fox, turned to look at him, staring at him with a look of what could only be described as fear. No, he told himself, its just a game. He raises his sword, the light from between the trees glinting on the red blade as he prepared to swing it down at the creature. Still, for some reason he couldn't do it. As much as he wanted to tell himself it was just a game, the fact that he could clearly see the creature was afraid made him hesitate. In that moment, the fox took off running. Seld sighes, and lowers his sword. Maybe that wasn't a monster in the forest after all, he reasoned. If it was, it would have attacked him not run away.

Seldentar continues to walk, trying to find any sort of monsters that might be hiding materials, when he heard a strange welping noise. Rushing in the direction he heard it in, he suddenly finds himself in a small clearing. What surprises him the most, are the wolves circling a small fox. In an instant, he realized it must be the same fox from earlier. Strange that npcs would attack each other. Still, 4 wolves vs just him, doesnt seem like the type of fight he wanted to get into, especially being new to the floor. Still, as he sees the fox sitting in the circle, he cant help but feel bad. The poor creature had only run away because he had raised his sword at it. As one of the wolves, starts to go in for the kill, he rushes forward, sword drawn.

"Hey, get away from it!"

As he gets close, he brings his sword down hard at the nearest wolf. With a satisfying sound, his blade finds its mark, digging a large red gash into the wolf.

Selds victory is short lived, as he quickly realizes that he is now the focus of the Wolves aggression. They ignore the fox, which appears to be injured, and begin to circle him instead. He looks left and right, doing his best to keep track of them, but one of the wolves manages to lunge in and bite at his ankle. Frowning as his hit points drop, he tries to stay rational. Attacking in anger again at the one that hit him wouldnt help his case. Instead he focuses on the already injured wolf, moving forward quickly and thrusting his blade at it. With a satisfying sound, the wolf erupts into data shards that fade away defeated.

Seld turns, trying to keep the remaining three wolves in his vision. As he moves, he slowly backs up to where the fox is, to help protect it as well. He had rushed in recklessly to save this poor thing, so he wasn't going to let it die after he already started the fight. He waited as the wolves circled him. As one moves in for the attack, he dodges left of its bite, trying to bring his sword down on its neck. It recovers quickly however, and he misses as it jumps backwards.

Seld starts to wish he had thought this through better. Individually, each wolf wasn't much of a threat to him, but why did he have to take on four at once. Even if they only get a shot off on him every now and then, eventually he was going to be in big trouble. As one of the wolves lunges forward at him, he narrowly manages to get out of the way of it. Suddenly he sees another wolf lunge forward, realizing the target was the fox, he abandons all reason, lunging forward at the one going after the fox. His attack fails, as he sees the foxes hit points start to drop.

His reckless move was going to cost more then the fox its HP, as both the other wolves move in on him, biting him as he sees more of his HP vanish. Cursing to himself, he starts to watch them circle him again. He was playing purely on the defensive, and it was time to change that. Gripping his sword tightly, he rushes forward, jumping into the air as he tries to bring his sword down on one of the wolves. Missing with his attack, he does his best to recover.

Seld takes a few steps back, out of the corner of his eye he sees the Wolf go after the fox again. The fox, seeming more mobile then before, dodges the attack, backing up and snarling at the wolf. Good for it, fight for your survival, just like the players here, the mobs were gone once they were killed. Even if they respawned, it was a different fox that would respawn, not the one that was currently fighting for its life. Seeing the fox able to take care of itself to an extent, he focuses on the two wolves in front of him. His blade beginning to glow, he prepares to slash out at the nearest wolf. As it slices into it, he hears a cry from the wolf to the side. It seems the fox had decided to fight back as well.

Seld watches, surprised as the Fox makes its attack. Why would Kayaba make npcs that would attack each other. In a sudden realization, he suddenly figures it out. A Quest, thats what this must be. Maybe he had to protect the fox to complete it, guide it back to its family or to a safe area. His realization came with a cost, his distracted mind not defending as another shot came from one of the wolves. Growling angrily, he whips around, swiping at it with his sword. He misses, never managing to land such attacks when he wasnt focused. The wolf and fox behind him continue to circle each other, as they continue to nip at each other, neither managing to harm the other significantly.

He focuses on the two wolves in front of him, lowering his sword down. As soon as one of the wolves lunges forward at him, he would bring the sword in a vertical slice upwards. He waits, letting his instincts control him. As the injured wolf lunges forward, his sword begins to glow with the sword skill, and he crouches down, suddenly jumping up again as he brings his sword up at the underside of the wolf. His attack missing, he notices that behind him the other battle was progressing, as both manage to harm each other.

He notices, that with the last attack, the foxes HP and dropped again. One lucky shot and that poor thing would be killed, and his quest would fail. Abandoning his own fight, he rushes forward, lunging towards the wolf fighting the Fox with all of his strength. The wolf, hearing him coming, easily dodges his attack, biting him as he rushes past.

Seld shakes his head, standing next to the fox as the 3 wolves begin to circle them again. He looks down at the poor creature. He had enough HP left for now to not worry about having to run yet, but if he was forced to retreat he doubted he could take this thing with him. If he had to run, hed be leaving it to its death. And he wasn't ready to abandon it yet.

"Cmon buddy, what do you say? Lets Kill these wolves together shall we?"

Raising his sword, he steps forward, bringing it down towards one of the injured wolves, as he sees the fox dart forward as well. His own blade digging into the Wolf, he sees another wolf bite it also as the Fox digs its teeth into it. With only one wolf left, Seld feels a lot better about how this fight will go.

His relief is short lived, as the fox gets bitten by the final wolf. Its HP Dropping into the red zone, it turns tail and flees off into the woods again. Cursing, Seldentar watches it leave, wondering if he failed the quest after failing to protect it. Still, the wolf was still there, and would still try to kill him. Raising his sword again, he plans on allowing it to attack, dodging, then counter attacking. As the wolf lunges forward, he side steps, bring his sword down at it. Misjudging its speed, his attack misses, and the wolf turns back at him.

His miscalculation costing him, he is unable to recover in time to avoid the bite of the wolf. He whirls around, his sword skill activating as he tries to slash through the wolf, growing concerned by his dwindling hit points. His attack sloppy, he doesn't even come close to hitting the wolf.

He steps back, thinking about what he was going to do. He sees the wolf start to run forward at him, and decides to charge right back at it. He brings his sword to about his waist, and runs forward at the wolf, as it comes into range, he thrusts his sword forward hard, lunging at the oncoming wolf. Both missing, he spins around to keep the wolf in his vision.

He shakes his head, trying to get his focus back. He was having a really hard time with this fight for some reason. With only one wolf left, he should have no issue killing it. He knows the longer he fights the more predictable he will be. He needs to end this soon or he would have to run. Moving forward, he tries to slash at the wolf. Finally succeeding, he manages to cut into the wolfs back, but fails to stop himself from his forward movement as he opens himself up to counter attack.

He follows up his previous attack, using the momentum of his movement to spin. As he turns, his sword, still in movement from his previous attack, slashes sideways at the wolf as he moves. As he spins, his sword starts to glow red, digging into, and then slicing through the wolf, and as it does, he sees a small amount of his own HP restored from the attack.

As the final wolf dies, he looks around. His health was decently low, but not too risky quite yet. And he still had to see if he could finish his quest. He heads out in the direction of the Fox that was injured, hoping to find it and at least complete the quest. After walking for a while, he comes to a split in the path. He hesitates, not sure which way to go. Looking down both paths, he realizes he will have to rely on luck alone now in order to succeed.

Seldentar wanders down the left path, searching for a good while before determining this must not be the path the fox took. Shaking his head, he wasnt sure if he could even catch up to it now, but he had to try to find it so he heads back to the split in the road. Thats when he sees it, sitting in the middle of the path in front of him. A large snake, its tongue out hissing at him. He draws his sword, and as the snakes head shoots out at him, tries to cut at its body. He misses, but at least avoids the snakes bite.

He steps a few paces closer, bringing his sword around to block the next bite of the snake, only to realize it has moved. Slithering around on the ground, it lunges at his feet. He reverses the grip on his sword, driving it down as hard as he can.As his sword digs deep into the snake, his sword glows red again, restoring a small amount of HP. The sudden attack causes the snake to miss, having to dodge to avoid fully being decapitated.
