[SP/F6] Learning About Me <<Calming the Soul>>

Recommended Posts

Alec glared intently at the sickly green and yellow creature who called itself Guilt. The giant creature lumbered and moved with nauseating movements. As the huge form moved forward Alec swung his Forearm Axe around aiming for the forms midsection. At the last moment the form shifted in an unnatural way that caused Alec to miss on his swing leaving himself open to the large form for a counter attack. The form swung its massive fist down and crashed into Alec where his heavy armor absorbed all but the most minor of bruises which he Battle Healing kicked in to heal away completely as Alec swung his shield upward and slashed into the form body opening another vertical slash in its body dripping it's hit points fully into the yellow zone of its health. Alec brought his shield back to its defensive position as he readied himself to the next round of combat against his own Guilt.

The fight was slow but steady, just like Alec was used to. This was his fight and he was controlling it completely and totally. "You're mine." Alec growled at the much larger sickly looking yellow and green form of Alec's aspect of his internal guilt manifested into a giant nauseating creature. As Alec eyed the monstrosity over the saw bladed edge of his shield he waited patiently for it to move, though yes he had learned that he fought because he liked it he didn't have to be stupid about it. Then beast lumbered forward and Alec swung his Forearm Axe around but at the last instant its body shifted and flowed in an unnatural way causing Alec's swing to miss as it flowed back and swung down with its massive fist connecting with Alec's heavy armor shoulder guards which mitigated the damage only leaving a small bruise which was quickly washed away by Alec's Battle Healing as it kicked in and healed the damage completely as the large man swung his razor sharp saw bladed shield up again slashing another derp laceration into the beasts torso as pixels spurted and sprayed from the wound. Alec brought his shield back to its defensive position in front of himself as he readied for the next round of combat and this manifestations eminent demise.

This fight was in the bag and Alec knew it, he owned this opponent it was just oblivious to that fact. Alec stared down the nauseating yellow and green swirling being standing before him it's hulking frame towering over the large man, but that didn't phase the large man in the slightest as he stared over the lip of his razor sharp saw bladed shield. Alec held his Forearm Axe low by his side ready to swing as soon as a chance presented itself. Alec reached out and drew on the games internal energy source and drew the energy through him and into his Forearm Axe causing it to begin to glow and vibrate. As the energy leaked lightning began to dance and play over the crescent shaped axe heads. Finally the chance presented itself and Alex swung his arm around in a might arc that cleaved the giant form fully in two pieces as the crescent shaped axe head expelled its stored up lightning causing it to arc and dive into the form forcing it to begin shaking and convulsing before exploding into a shower if yellow and green pixels that rained down and disappeared into nothing.

As the aspect of Alec's guilt a yellow and green creature roughly twice his large size exploded into a shower of yellow and green pixels which rained down around Alec as he stood up to his full height of nearly six and a half tall. The large man looked around himself surveying his surroundings he nodded his head in agreement and understanding as he observed the interior of his cabin here in Aincrad. He admitted to himself how much he liked his house here, how much he liked the Fourth Floor of Aincrad and finally how much he really enjoyed fighting. He fought for a goal true enough but he enjoyed every dang second of the fighting and wouldn't trade it for anything he thought to himself. But now he had and he could move on and move forward and that was a good thing. Anything that hung him up could potentially be fatal to him here within his virtual prison of Aincrad.

As the aspects of Alec's guilt exploded into a shower of sickly colored yellow and green pixels the large took several steps forward and saw that a door had appeared in the center of his living room. The door looked exactly like the one he'd just entered to get here except that where the original door had an engraved hand with splayed fingers on it that was dyed blood red this door was perfectly smooth and devoid of any markings. Alec assumed that as the last time he had defeated an aspect the door took him back to the nothing Alec figured this time would be exactly the same so the large man reached out and grasped the metal door knob affixed to the dark wooden door and twisted the knob pulling it open. As Alec opened the door he peered inside and again saw only pitch blackness in the doorway. With a derp breath Alec stepped forward into the darkness and again disappeared completely.

As Alec stepped into the darkness within the doorway and disappeared a moment later his foot came down causing ripples on the ground that looked like the surface of a dark pool of water but was a firm and dry as any other hard ground. Alec stopped and looked around slowly turning in a circle. He was again standing within the big nothing. He was still standing amid three doors but as he looked closely at them he saw that once again one of the doors had lost its markings and now he stood amid two doors made from the polished cherry wood that were perfectly smooth with no markings or engravings what do ever and two doors which still retained there markings. The doors with the upside down heart and now the blood stained splayed hand were both now completely smooth. The doors with the sad theater face and the horrific demonic visage both still had their engravings. As before when Alec's eyes drew across the visage of the demonic face a shiver ran up Alec's spine and a sense of dread washed over him. Whatever was behind that door scared him. Even from here. With that Alec turned to face the door with the sad theater face on it an stepped forward in front of it.

Alec reached out and grasped the door knob of the door with the sad theater face engraved into its surface and as the did a sudden unexplained wave of sadness washed over him and a lone tear escaped his eye to roll down his cheek. With a faint sniff Alec twisted the door handle and pulled the door open revealing yet another pitch black area within the doorway. Alec fought down another wave of sorrow as he stepped into the black doorway and disappeared into the blackness beyond as it encompassed him entirely. As Alec finished his step light started to build in his vision. As the light brightened fuzzy indistinct shapes began to emerge and as the fuzzy shapes began to sharpen images began to reveal themselves to Alec as he blinked away another errant tear that forced itself out of his eye and streaked down his cheek following the first one. What was going on? Alec thought to himself, he was in touch with his emotions but he had never been a crier. Why were his eyes leaking now?

As his vision fully cleared Alec found himself standing in the common room of the Inn in the Town of Beginnings where he had spent so much time trying to learn how to interact with the game. Where he had finally figured out how to open his inventory and how to equip and unequip an item. Where he had learned how to open his map. He had spent two long years here cooped up and locked in his room because he couldn't figure out how to equip his vanity clothing. Those had been long trying years for the large man. Long years of feeling useless and pathetic while others had fought and died trying to free themselves and others from this world and he had sat in his rented room doing nothing. Pathetic, he thought to himself as another stray tear broke free and tumbled down his cheek. Seriously what was the deal with his eyes he thought to himself as a tiny shudder rolled through his body.

As he stood there confused and alone he suddenly saw another person in the common room with him it was Ghost the young troubled girl he had helped talk back off of the ledge on the Second Floor. He had saved her life but as he began to smile at the thought of her and his desire to help her a sudden wave of emotion crashed over him. A feeling that he had failed the young woman and as Alec tried to fight that feeling knowing the last time he'd seen her she'd been alive a sense of dread washed over him and her visage morphed. Now Ghost lay on the floor of the common room her eyes open and unfocused her mouth hung slackly open and Alec knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he'd failed her now she lay dead because of him and his failure causing another year to break free and roll down his cheek. "I'm sorry Ghost." Alec whispered in his deep baritone rumble.

As Alec stood in the middle of the Inn's common room with the dead body of the young troubled girl Ghost lying dead on the floor her open and staring blankly and her hanging open and slack the next person to appear was Vigilon the Blacksmith he had bought his first shield, the Shield of the Thunderhearts from. He saw the young man standing there greeting him as when he had first walked into the young man's shop. Alec opened his mouth to speak when another wave of sadness and dispare washed over the large man causing another year to streak down his face as Vigilon fell to the floor his face slashed and bloody torn open as by an animal and Alec faltered as his chest clenched and a certainty overcame him Vigilon too was dead because Alec had failed to save the young man his death was Alec's fault just like Ghost. Alec tried to inhale but his body shuddered causing the breath to shudder and falter.

Still Alec stood at the center of the Inn's common room confused and staining to breath as he looked down to the bodies of Ghost and Vigilon as they lay upon the floor both dead in their own separate ways. Alec fought to piece together what was happening and why as he fought the clenching in his chest trying to catch his breath as his chest clamped down restricting the flow of oxygen he was able to get. As he turned shaking his head he spotted another person in the common room Alec spotted Katagawa standing there the young incredibly brilliant strategist he had fought a Dragon Hatchling with when the pair had laughed and joked and invented their own game of Dragon Hatchling tennis. 15 - Lo.......Alec began before a pair of tears sprang from his eyes to crawl down each if his cheeks as his inhaled breath started in his chest causing him to grasp and hick as he tried to fight for oxygen as he watched the young woman fall to the ground her arm torn completely from her body. "Nnnoooooo!!!" Alec cried out as yet another wave of misery washed over him along with it the certainty that this young brilliant woman who had such a bright future in front had met an early death due to Alec's failure. Alec knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that his failure had caused this young woman to die.

As Alec stood amid the growing Carnage within the Inn's common room he stared down at the dead bodies. Ghost with he vacant stating eyes, Vigilon his face slashed and torn ad if by a wild animal and Kat her arm savagely torn from her body. All people he knew all people had failed, all dead because of him. As Alec looked up he caught sight of his friend and travelling companion Dagger striking through the bar that grin on his face that said he knew something you didn't and would only tell you if was worth his while to do so. Alec stared slack jawed as the smaller man approached and as another wave of misery flooded over the large man he watch Dagger rumble to the floor his head cleanly removed from his body but that damned dapper fedora still firmly affixed to the man's decapitated head. Alec shook his head in shook and horror as more years began to trickle down his cheeks running streaks where they passed Alec fought down his revulsion and anguish as the realization continued to flood him that he had failed his friend as well Dagger, the Luckiest man in Aincrad had perished because Alec had failed to protect him, it was ALL HIS FAULT. He thought sullenly as he fought his ever tightening chest for ragged gulps of air.

The mass of bodies littering the Inn's common room was steadily growing much to Alec's terror. Ghost lay eye staring blankly, Vigilon lay his face savaged by a wild animal and now Dagger his friend and companion decapitated. Alec's sorrow grew as he surveyed the wreckage before him of dead bodies. As Alec stood with lines of tears trailing down his cheeks he looked about the room and spotted a new comer Alec spotted Sey "The Man Who Never Missed" as he appeared within the Inn's common room but as Alec stated at the man with tears trailing down his cheeks his chest seized again as another wave of dread overtook the large man as he suddenly glimpsed Sey laying flat on the ground his midsection torn open and his internal organs piled around him eviscerated. Alec grasped the side of his head shaking it as tears fell down his cheeks faster. How? How could this be? The man was deadly! Who could tore his guts out as if with their bare hands. Why? How? What? Alec thought yo himself as he fought for air his throat tightening in grief.

Alec stood bewildered amid the growing mass of corpses littering the floor of the Inn's common room. Ghost, Vigilon, Katagawa, Sey. The name's raced through Alec's mind as his eyes drew over their limp lifeless forms. They had all died due to his failures. Another form materialized within the common room Hestia the unstoppable Tank. A woman surely no one could take down Alec had seen her shake have amounts of damage. Alec admired the young woman for her goals and ideals. Her desire to build a place of refuge amid this sea of troubled eaters for others to cling to where they could find support and shelter and refuge amongst others like them who would nurture and support and strengthen their fellow Players. Suddenly she lay on ground her body ripped clean in two. Something titanic and world ending would be needed to destroy such an invisible person as Hestia. Alec's knees trembled and he fought the keep his feet as tears began to stream down then large man's face. He had to have failed colossally to allow something this powerful to destroy such a powerful person as Hestia. He had to have utterly and completely failed to allow something that powerful to run rampant and kill such a mighty juggernaut as her.

Alec wasn't sure how much more of this he could take. The large man with the bottomless well of willpower the man with boundless resolve was nearing his breaking point. His knees quavered and shook as his mentor appeared before him Macradon. Macradon Aincrad's premier Blacksmith. Macradon a man who had to be powerful enough to man the Front Lines and who knew every Front Liner but chose not to fight. Alec shook his head as tears ran freely down his face now. Using ever ounce of his now faltering resolve to remain upright as everyone he had ever known or cared about here in Aincrad had perished due to his failures he had allowed them all to die in grisly and horrific fashions and now this. Suddenly in the blink of an eye his mentor and friend a man imminently more powerful than himself lay dead a massive anvil crushing his upper body. Alec staggered over and tried pushing the anvil but it's massive size was too much even for Alec's mighty frame. His mentor and friend lay dead among the score already littering the floor. Ghost, Vigilon, Dagger, Kat, Sey, Hestia and now Macradon. Alec was crumbling his will falling to pieces he had failed them all everyone he cared about, perished, dead.

Then came the face that destroyed the large man completely. After all the deaths and failures this one obliterated the large man because of everyone he had met here this one he thought of akin to his own child. Alec's knees gave way and slammed to the floor with a Earth shattering boom as the large man witnessed Kirbs skipping through the room. Skipping and smiling amid the corpses and dead unknowing unseeing of Alec's failures and its results. The young girl stopped her skipping and turned to face Alec, a smile spreading across and lighting her face as she raised her hand and waved to him. The wave would have comically fast and over exaggerated causing Alec to laugh aloud had he not known what was coming next. Suddenly the young lady stood mid wave a massive hole punched through her chest as if a telephone pole had been rammed through her midsection leaving a perfect circle in her torso. The young woman's head cocked to the side as her eyes glazed over and became vacant. "Why Alec?" She asked in her sing sing musical voice. "Why'd you let us.....die?" Her voice trailing off as the music died away as too did her life. Alec let out a wail of grief and rage as the last person he cared about in this digital world died before him. The man was broken.....

A loud bubbling and burbling sound began behind the broken and defeated man but the large man didn't even acknowledge this in his fragmented and tormented brain. Everyone he knew and cared about here in this hellish digital prison was dead so what did anything matter any more really? The large man thought as he knelt upon the floor surrounded by his dead friends and companions holding his head in his hands weeping openly. He was drowning in his sadness. He was drowning in his sorrow. Wait a second, a concious thought entered his mind as he tried to inhale and failed. He was actually drowning he realized as he fought for breath noticing he was encapsulated within a body of liquid that was blue in tint and swirling slowly and lethargically. As Alec fought for breath he noticed a faint taste of saline to the liquid before he clamped his mouth shut and began fighting for his freedom and his life.

Alec struggled as the gigantic mass of liquid encasing the large man tried to force it's way into his mouth and down his throat. Alec kept his mouth clamped right shut as he struggled to fight back before realizing he was once more garbbed in his battle gear. Alec reached to the games internal energy source and was elated to feel the energy flowing through him and into his Forearm Axe causing it to glow and vibrate within the belly of this beast. As the energy leaked small sparks of lightning began arcing off his crescent blades axe head causing the mass to shy away just enough for Alec to swing his forearm battle axe around while expelling the stored up lightning energy into the mass causing it to quiver and shake. The mass tried to force it's way into Alec's mouth but he fought and growled keeping his teeth and lips clenched together.

Alec continued to struggle and fight within the thick liquid mass that was encasing and restraining him. Alec fought desperately reaching out again to the games internal energy source. He needed to finish this fight quicker than his normal pace as he was worried about drowning or suffocating inside this giant liquid mass. As Alec reached out the energy shifted away from his touch and call leaving him empty. As he fought to call on the energy he let out a grunt of frustration opening his mouth slightly, but that slight gap was all the liquid mass needed as it began to force itself into his mouth and began pumping itself into his throat and lungs. Alec coughed and sputtered trying to eject the foreign material as his Battle Healing kicked in helping him to heal the damage the liquid was causing as it tried to drown him and force itself inside the large man.

Alec continued to struggle in a fight unlike any other he had ever fought as he floated suspended within the massive liquid form. Alec reached out again to the games internal energy source to power another Sword Art as he needed to end this fight before he drowned or was suffocated by the mass he was trapped within. As the energy flowed into Alec he felt the energy began madding within the battle axe attached to his forearm. As the energy built the battle axe heads began glowing and vibrating as the energy built. When the energy leaked lightning began to arc and spark off the crescent shaped axe heads causing the form to recoil away from Alec's weapon. Alec swung his Forearm Axe around in a wide arc slashing through the liquid mass as lightning arced and jumped from the weapon into the form causing it to shake and shudder as it diminished in size slightly from the damage it received.
