[SP-F2] Breaking the Unbreakable

Recommended Posts

It had to be a boulder. Of all the things that stood in his way, it had to be a boulder. He could handle monsters, even PKers. But a boulder was just to much. He stood in front of the massive stone sphere with an annoyed fire in his eyes. "Damn rock." He muttered as he wondered how to approach this. He knew that it was a quest and that he'd get the <> Skill for breaking the rock because his friends had told him about it. The only problem was, he wasn't sure how hand to hand combat worked in the game. He starred at the rock while pondering his move.

He walked up to the massive rock and punched the rock. As he expected, the rock didn't budge and his hand hurt. As he rubbed it, he looked back over the rock. He spat on the ground before walking away from it, a determined look on his face. "It'll be there when I get back." He sighed as he wandered into the surrounding mountain range, looking for a flat area to train.

Angel walked through the forest that rested below the mountains, his mind on the rock. Then he found it. There was a clear area hidden in the trees. It was a flat area, with a small pond and a number of good sized rocks surrounding it. Angel smiled as he said to himself, "I found you." He unequipped his shirt and shoes, readying himself for some tough training.

He approached a rock that was about his size, a good start. He took a fighting stance and sent a strong jab at it. His fist made contact with the rock and he instantly felt the results. The rock was harder then he imagined and his hand went numb. He grabbed it and started rubbing his hand, the pain fading away. He sighed and cracked his neck. "You've gotta crack a few rocks," He punched the rock again and to his surprise, he saw a small crack in the rock's surface. He smiled. "To make a fighter." He sent another punch with his other hand and the crack grew. With a few more hits, he should break this rock. Unfortunately, the boulder he'd have to face was much larger than this and he'd need more strength and stamina in order to pull it off. He'd have to train hard to get the results he desired.

He rubbed his hands, the pain starting to affect him. He growled to himself as he worked through the pain, keeping up the punches. Every time he struck, the crack got bigger until a chunk fell off and crashed to the ground. Angel starred at the chunk with a small feeling of satisfaction. He was getting there, slowly but surely. He looked back at the rock and then at his hands. They were starting to turn red. He frowned as he equipped a pair of gloves. "I'm gonna go through an entire wardrobe change before I'm done here aren't I?" He asked himself as he looked over his gloves.

Angel then moved onto his kicks. He looked over at the water and saw that it was about waist deep. He waded into the pond and took his fighting stance. Then he kicked forward, the water dragging behind him. He kicked again, and again the water dragged his foot and leg, making him work to get it faster and faster. He strained himself, making his body work to get the strength behind his kicks. He kept this up until he was kicking as fast as he could on land. He stepped on land and his legs turned to jelly. He wasn't used to walking around on his new legs just yet. He looked around for something else to train with.

Angel walked over to one of the rocks and looked it over. It was a fairly large rock, smaller than Angel himself but still a good size. He wondered about what he could do. Then he got an idea and smiled. He crouched down and placed both hands under the rock. Then, using his legs, he pulled the rock up and over his head. It was heavy but somehow he managed to hold it above his head. He then squatted down, remaining in the sitting position for a few counts before standing back up, the rock still in his hands. He repeated this a few times, each time feeling his body adjust to the weight and his strength grow to match it. After his 20th time, he threw the rock to the side. As it crashed to the ground, Angel took a deep breath and smiled. "I'm getting there." He told himself as beads of sweat started to form on his forehead.

After a tough physical workout, he sat down criss-cross and closed his eyes. He placed his hands at his sides and concentrated on nothing. He just calmed his entire body down until he felt, almost invisible. The world around him began to dissolve until it was just him. He thought about nothing until his entire body and mind was at peace.

He meditated for almost an hour, barely breathing as he did so. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, but at the one hour mark, he found it. His eyes shot open and he began walking back to the rock to give it another try. His body was a little sore from the sudden burst of strength that he had just received but he walked it off in no time. The only thing that ran through his mind was, "I'm gonna smash that damn rock."

As he walked up the massive boulder, he saw a couple of other players crowding around it. They were green so he didn't worry about them to much. They were watching the boulder with both interest and anger. One of them, <>, approached the boulder, battleaxe in hand. Angel leaned against a tree and watched him as he swung the weapon over his head and down onto the rock. As Angel expected, the weapon bounced off without leaving a dent. Angel chuckled to himself. Unfortunately, he was to loud and the other players in the party turned to face him. He kept up the smile, confident that he had nothing to worry about.

They all aimed their weapons at him, and yet he kept the same smile. They were all lower level then him so he wasn't sure why they figured they had a chance against him. <>, the leader from the looks of it, glared at Angel. "Something funny?" Angel smiled and nodded. "Yeah, you thought that a weapon would break that boulder." Daricus glared at him. "Well, what do you think will work?" Angel cracked his knuckles and walked up to the boulder. "You've got to use your strength. Just your strength." He took a deep breath, balled his fists, and then threw a solid punch at the boulder's surface.

He hit it with a tremendous force, sending an almost visible shock wave across the rock's surface. He smiled as he felt the sting of the failed attempt. But it wasn't a total loss. He now new how much he needed to improve. The boulder had withstood the test, now he had to prepare for the exam. The other player's watched him with great interest now. "How'd you know that would work?" One of them asked. Daricus scoffed, "It didn't work." Angel looked back at him with a smile. "Not yet it hasn't." He stretched his arms a little, preparing for another hit.

Before he could get the chance, Daricus pushed him aside. "Stand aside, watch how a real player fights." Angel stepped to the side, curious about how this would go down. Daricus wound up for a punch and launched his hand forward. The only noise that could be heard was him crying out in pain. He clutched his hand and jumped up and down. Angel grinned as he watched the arrogant player pay for his mistake. Then he stepped in the way of the boulder and got ready to throw another punch. He closed his eyes and breathed slowly, knowing he was close to breaking this thing.

He opened his eyes and set another solid punch at the rock. This time the impact made a small crack in the rocks surface. He grinned, happy that he had gotten that far. He whistled as he rubbed his hand. "That's a good start." He muttered as he eyed the boulder. He didn't see it, but Daricus was steaming mad. He wasn't about to have this random player show him up in front of his party. He grabbed Angel's shoulder and shoved him back. "Who do you think you are? You think you're some, big shot who can go around doing whatever he wants? Huh?!" He shoved Angel again. Angel squinted at him, wondering how he should take care of this. Then he grinned. "Alright, let's settle this like men. Let's duke it out. Mono y Mono."

Each player took their positions across from each other. Angel unequipped his shirt and shoes, keeping his pants and gloves. His hair was tied back with a bandanna, making him look like some kind of street fighter. Daricus kept all his armor on. After the duel request was made and accepted, Angel proceeded forward. He held his fists up near his face in a defensive stance. Daricus charged at him with no technique at all. He swung a couple of wild punches at Angel's upper torso but he blocked accordingly. Angel then countered with a series of jabs to Daricus's torso. They weren't as hard as he could punch, that much was made clear. Daricus backed up, grabbing his chest and attempting to breathe. Angel grinned. "You ok?" He asked.
