Even after having gained some levels, floor one was still where Ruler needed to be. There was much to be done here with all the beginner level quests that could easily shoot her to her next level. She wanted to make sure that she didn't out level any quests though, so for now, she would just work to acquire a crafting skill. It was a good thing that she found that shop on her way up to the guildhall. If she hadn't noticed it, she would probably looking around for a player cook right now. There was likely one that could give her the food, but she would hate to bother someone she hardly knew to give her free things.

Approaching the blacksmith that manned the Blacksmith quest, she knew that she was going to suck with this, but she wouldn't let it stop her. This would probably be the best profession for her over all.

Cedric greeted her the moment that she opened the door to his smith. It was hot inside, the smell of a white hot forge taking up her sense as the air waft out the door. "Learning the blacksmith trade are you young lady? You don't look necessarily like blacksmith material, but really, no one does when they begin. Besides, I'm here to teach everyone. Just be careful that long hair of yours doesn't get caught between the hammer and the anvil."

Ruler felt like his greeting was a little more rude than he intended, but she would just shrug it off. The NPCs wouldn't really remember them for very long. She nodded in response to the trainer's remarks and walked forward and gave him a soft smile. "Yes, good day. I'm looking for training to the profession of blacksmithing so that I can create my own weapons and armor, and for others as well."

"Well young lady, it's pretty simple to make weapons, but I can't just spare you the materials that I have. Got to keep them available for any guards that might need weapons made. If I run out, it would look pretty bad on my image. If you go out and get your own, I will teach you how to make your own weapons strong enough to split a fat boar in half!" He chuckled, slamming the hammer on the weapon laying across his anvil. Sparks flew off the sword as it connected.

Another stupid fetch quest. There were so many of these early on, she had never realized it. If this is how it meant to teach the mechanics of the game, then so be it. Although, she wished she could have the chance to actually fight a boss monster for once. "Then you have a deal, sir. I will return before the end of the day with your materials as you ask."

Ruler turned to leave. "Ah yeah, good luck then, I'll be waiting for ya right here whenever you get that done." The black smith called to her as she stepped out and rounded the corner of his shop. The sound of her heels clicked over the commotion of the first floor's bustle. Heading towards the exit to town, she wouldn't waste any time on detours. There was too much for her to get done if she wanted to catch up with other players in her guild. Not everyone there was a significantly high level, but she was still one of the lowest levels of them all.

Passing through the safe zone barrier, Ruler made a look around for any useful materials that would work with smithing. As far as she knew, any materials of any kind would work with any profession. You could use boar meat to make swords if you wanted since everything just came into your inventory as a basic material.

Luckily enough, she found her first one in record time. Bending down to pick the small item up off the ground, the golden-blonde added it to her inventory without a second thought. She knew that at these low levels, she should just be relaxing and taking her time. Sure the front line was probably dry with able bodied players based on their slow progress to complete the game, but she still felt like she was worrying too much. A sense of duty was over taking her. She needed to do something to prove to her deceased friends that she wasn't just wasting her time here like a scared little girl.

Having barely even made it past the barrier's line of sight, Ruler was pretty surprised when she found yet another material just ripe for the picking. If she did this too fast, she might end up surprising that black smith with her capabilities.

Two down and only three more to go. If she didn't get attacked by some random mobs, she would be safe at least. Hopefully this time she wouldn't go falling in any stupid holes that lead into caves with mobs. She had gotten her new weapon off of those enemies, to be fair, but she wasn't wanting to deal in too much combat today. It could get annoying sometimes and she was sure that once she made it past all these tutorial quests that there would be plenty of time to involve herself in combat. Sooner or later, she would start to hate it.

Her luck was already starting to run dry. Nothing to be found just yet, but there wasn't much of a rush anyway. She needed to learn how to pull herself back and relax so she didn't wear herself out trying to climb. Burnout is a real thing in video games.

Burn out or not, she still couldn't be sitting around idle anymore. Even if she could just spend time making gear for others in the game, that would suit her taste. Whatever it took to keep things in the game going forward. The couldn't spend the rest of their lives in this digital world expecting someone to come and save them from their fate. No, they would make it through their own volition and hard work.

Another sparkle of materials could be seen out of the corner of her eye. The glow seemed a little more enhanced than usual thanks to her luck boost. That food really came in handy from that cook. Buffs in this game worked extremely odd, but she was thankful for them at least. Reaching down to the ground, she collected the material so graciously offering itself and moved it into her inventory, moving on to the next.

This was becoming too easy, and way too tedious though. The antsy feeling of having to do practically the same thing she had done in the beginner's quest was kind of belittling. She wished they had done something a little more for this quest, if only add a few little details to it differentiate it from the other one. Hopefully all these quests would feel a little more fun to complete when she gets to be a stronger level than what she is right now.

Another sparkle of light, another materials to add to her stash. The golden haired maiden made her way over to it and picked it up off the ground, moving it into her inventory without a second thought. She only needed one more and she had barely spent any time out here at all, at least compared to the last time that she had come out into the field. Perhaps trying out her new weapon wouldn't be so bad on some lower leveled mobs.

Ruler was in a position where she was not pressed so much for time any more. With the success that she had garnered already thanks to her searching items and the food offered to her, she was able to find nearly all the materials with constant success. Yet even to this point, she was still missing out on opportunities to find some it seemed. Being in a hurry was a quick way to getting stressed in an MMO and she wouldn't let that mentality eat at her.

Walking through the fields of the first floor was at least enjoyable. The sun was warm and now that she had a few levels to her name, she felt more confident than ever walking around on this floor. With her flag in tow, she would keep an eye out for any of the usable materials. Getting this quest done would allow her to make her own gear.

The atmosphere of the first floor was also pleasant. It was really welcoming to the beginner player. Most of the monsters you see on this floor were cute or small and not really all that ferocious. It was safe to imagine that as you get higher in the floor count, you will end up fighting more terrifying foes than ones from before.

With her mind else where, she nearly missed the last material that she needed. The only reason that she was able to find it was because she nearly ate the grass when she stepped on it. A stumble and inspection later, she scooped up the material and placed it in her inventory with the rest of them. She was debating on whether she should head back to the blacksmith now and finish this, but realizing that she had active buffs, it would be a good idea to keep searching for more materials.

Walking along the forest line, Ruler decided that collecting some extra materials while her buffs were still active was a good idea. She could find materials relatively easy with her luck boosted to what felt like the max at this point. Searching around the base of trees proved fruitful enough. She was able to find more materials around there. Taking up the piece of material and putting it into her inventory, she sighed and kept looking around.

There was still a lot to think about when it came to this world. She had only gotten her feet wet at this point, but even still, she was feeling somewhat overwhelmed with the monumental task ahead of her. If she wanted to make her deceased friends proud, she would need to be strong and make it to the end of this game no matter what. Getting stronger and making friends that she could protect was the number one objective.

With her attention divided, she nearly forgot to take a moment to look around for more materials. A quick inspection caught her eye of the next one. She wasn't sure if her own luck was just that good or if the boosts were helping her more than intended, but she remembered her first lesson's quest being much more difficult than this. Perhaps that was because she fell into a cave and had to fight her way out though.

She reached down and picked up yet another material for her collection. As fast as she could surmise, she had only been out in the field for a little over a half hour, and yet she had already collected so many materials. Perhaps she was just that lucky.

Joining a guild was what was really on her mind though. She would have to look through guilds that were open to lower leveled players and see if there were any that would accept her.

Any guild that would be willing to accept her would work for now. She didn't need a big or powerful guild to get by, just one with some nice people in it. When she got back into town, she would need to take a look at the player request boards to see if any guilds were recruiting through there. That was the best idea she could come up with for now, or to just find someone who already had a guild and ask them if she could join.

Again, while she was lost in thought, she nearly moved past a material. Dropping by to pick it up out of the grass, she moved the little item into her inventory for safe keeping later. She took a quick look to see what her total was, which was 34 at this point. Not bad for starting off her crafting business when she finished the quest.

After getting so many materials, this time she wouldn't come across any. No matter how much she continued to walk along the path, nothing came in to view. That wasn't much of a problem at all. She had already found more than enough, so much so that she was out here collecting extra on her own accord when she could just head back to the blacksmith right now and turn the quest in.

She wouldn't give up on the material hunting until her buffs were set to wear off. She still had a bit of time before the would wear off anyways, might as well use them to the fullest potential, not just to finish the quest.

Moving along the path that lead out into the fields, Ruler continued to contemplate her options. There was so much that she needed to do in what felt like a short amount of time.

This time, she really was unable to find anything. Wow, she really must have jinxed herself thinking about how easy this material gathering thing was becoming. It really did feel like it was easier than she expected it to be. If anything, it was more tedious than it necessary. If you just had the specific buffs that make you more proficient at it, than you wouldn't have much problem finding them in the first place. Ruler wasn't having much problem finding them until now. Maybe that meant it was a good time to find a new spot to be looking around on.

Moving further down the path, she finds an open field with tall grass and a few small patches of trees. This would be a good spot to be looking around for something more. Taking a step into the new terrain, she takes a quick look around for anything useful before continuing on.

Even with this new scenery, Alicia was unable to find anything usable. She huffed slightly in annoyance, beginning to feel a little more glad that she had gotten lucky enough to find the quest specific materials with relative ease compared to the extras. Since she did not even really need the ones she was collecting now, it would not bother her as much as if she hadn't found the quest materials first.

Thankfully with that in mind, she would push her frustration off to the side and continue walking for a while longer. The timer on the buff was slowly starting to shrink and soon she wouldn't have anymore active buffs. Once it was gone, she would start making her way back to town so that she could craft the weapon like the old coot at the blacksmith promised her would teach her. She would make something amazing, she could just feel it.

After a much longer time of searching, Ruler was able to finally find some usable materials worth putting towards crafting. It was hiding among the grass that was almost too tall to see. She was sure that she had looked in this direction for materials just a moment ago, but it must have slipped past her vision until now. Bending down, she picked up the material and moved it into her inventory almost as naturally as she could. It was becoming second nature at this point.

Finally she had found another before her buff ended. She would be pretty content with the amount of materials she had pulled in if she could just find one more before the buff ran out. Five more materials aside the quest one that she had found would make this a pretty fruitful experience. She would have a store filled with weapons before she knew it.

After a few more minutes of looking around, there was nothing in sight. If she didn't find anything within the next ten minutes than she wouldn't get that one last material that she wanted. It wouldn't be that much of a problem for her, but it was still a personal goal.

She was glad that this quest would be wrapping up for her soon though. She was ready to go back home and relax after putting in a day of work. Once she crafted and maybe got lucky enough to get a new piece of perfect gear, she might incorporate it into her build.

Now would be a good time turn around and start heading back to town so that she could get to the safe zone right when the buff ended. She made a 180 and started walking down the path back to town. On her way, she would look for materials.

Thankfully, on her way back to the Town of Beginnings, she was able to find another material on her way. At the base of a tree again, how nice. Not that material gathering had to be anything special, but she had hoped that it would be a little different as it went on. It was kind of boring to do alone. Next time she would probably bring someone along to keep it lively.

Finally she was back in town and at the blacksmith's shop. She stepped inside and smiled at the old man. "Good day, I have returned with the materials you requested, and some extra for myself." Alicia said as she walked up to him and the anvil.

"Ah, welcome back. You were a lot faster than other people who try to learn the craft, and you collected extra materials? Well done. Let's get started right away." He replied.

Cedric ushered her over to the anvil where her journey will begin. "Let's start with something simple here. A sword is a fairly easy weapon to start with. Armor could be a tad difficult for a new smith, but you'll get it down. Just place a material down there on the anvil and give it a few smacks wit' yer hammer."

Alicia picked up the hammer that he mentioned and started working. It took about four attempts before she actually got something decent to come out of it. Three dented swords later, she had a huge straight sword with a lovely design, just as she had imagined it in her head. That was actually much more easy than she expected it to be. "Wow, I did it almost no problem."

"Natural born for the job, ye' are. Great job." Cedric nodded and offered her the materials to begin her own shop.
