Freyd's ever-present combat-frown deepened at the sight of his companion taking a heavy hit.  The mobs were certainly more lethal than they used to be.  Without hesitation, Freyd jumped to his ally's defense.  That was the point of this little escapade, after all: to remind them both that they were on the same side.  He had always claimed to bear ChaseR no malice.  Now was the time to prove it.

A quick snapping jerk cracked the mob's gob and sent its head reeling back.  The follow up to its gut folded it forward, exhausting any options for it to draw breath.  Black boots left a nasty print upon the failing figure's face as the Whisper followed up with a roundhouse kick that sent a spray of pixels sailing wide, even as the mob sprawled awkwardly onto his back.

"Nobody does that to my friends."

Swinging his staff overhead like some kind of massive maul, he slammed into their common, crumpled foe and smashed it like an overripe melon.  Red eyes turned, showing on the barest hint of concern.  He knew the question that would be hanging from the blue boi's lips.  His own eyebrow raised in surprise.

"What?  We've always driven each other nuts.  Isn't that what friends do to each other?"
