Zak 0 Posted August 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2014 A day or two after the dreadful attempt at training and nearly dying from a pack of boars, Zak decided to seek out the aid of an informant that brought a lot of light onto the situation. Zak had gone without leveling up his skills, which was a fatal flaw in this game, especially off the start. After some toying around in his menu later that day, he had ultimately increased his strength to the point that he could kill the boars and even the wolves off in a single hit, "I hate myself..." After all this time experiencing MMOs, he had completely disregarded the fundamental mechanics, thanks to all the drama that happened on the first day. He wondered if he was the only one that lacked such knowledge or if he was just a complete idiot that lacked any understanding of the game, one that he participated in during the beta. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted August 5, 2014 This time around, Zak had brought two of his new creations; Fury's Retribution and Salvation. He didn't expect to have much trouble when combined with his recent information find, but he had certainly grown a lot of confidence. In fact, it was so much so that he fully intended to go up to the fourth floor today. It was certainly a scary thought for most players, but Zak was still highly upset with his lacking abilities up until now. He had to find something to take it out on and the runts on floor one were nothing more than flies now. He wanted to hurt something and watch it feel the pain, not just obliterate into shards instantly.
Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 5, 2014 He would make his way to where the plains were said to be as he had yet to venture into the other biomes here, which he didn't intend to do without more information on the area. At least, here in the plains, he could tell where things were and what was heading towards him. In the jungle and forest, there was no telling what was past the trees, above, and out of your sight. Speaking of sight, Zak saw the first boar for today's pickings and approached with the intent to attack, "What an unlucky day to be you..." Miss... no damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The boar, startled by Zak's warning, bolted out of the way and he missed by a mile. However, being a bit braver than the boars Zak had encountered three floors down, this boar decided to counter right off the bat. Zak simply side-stepped out of the way as it bumrushed towards him, but didn't give it any time to create a gap in the distance. This time around, he would use a vertical slash to strike at the pig's side, giving him a pretty good chance at causing some damage. Hit... 5 Damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Zak laughed as the sword went fully down the side of the boar, causing it to flinch in pain as it ran by. Distraught with anger and pain, the boar tried to stop closer near Zak and ram the player using its tusks. Unfortunately for the massive chunk of meat, it was far too slow for the more agile Zak. It missed, but since it wasn't running by, he wouldn't be able to slash the side of the boar again. However, that didn't mean he couldn't stab the brute in the face, which was precisely what he planned to do. Miss... 0 Damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The boar stood up on its hind legs once it saw Zak pull his sword back to poke, which saved its life by the skin of his teeth, quite literally. Coming to a quick conclusion, the boar tried to strike Zak down with its hooves as it came back down on all fours, but he had backed up before that could happen. Though, this little part of the engagement was something that Zak enjoyed since it was such an easy attack to avoid. He figured he'd try it again and went for at least one more jab to the face. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted August 5, 2014 As the point of the sword pierced the boar's face with the rest of the blade soon following, the boar shattered into glistening shards. He pulled back his sword, spun it on its hilt and placed the bad boy back in his sheath, "I'm really digging this combat now... Hell, I couldn't even beat two boars with half that health on them last time I went training!" It was most definitely a change in pace and it was one for the better. He would be able to train much more efficiently whenever he went on these sorts of trips and he'd be able to haul in plenty of Col and Materials, both of which would help his shop and himself. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Another boar wasn't too far off and Zak was pretty eager to have some more practice with his new sword, but didn't expect to use his shield much. Granted, it was nice to be able to deflect attacks and stay alive, but Zak needed to rely on his attack more than his defense, "A strong offense makes for an even better defense, after all." Making his way over to the boar at his leisure, he would go in for a silent attack, hoping to get off the first strike before the boar even realized it. Miss... no damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Granted, it sounded good in theory anyways. The boar had heard him before he got close enough and dashed out of the way so that it could turn around to see what had approached, a player. Angered, per usual AI, the boar began running towards Zak who simply side-stepped out of the way. These boars were so predictable now, but he knew they could get a little crazy at times. Still walking, bolstering in confidence in these semi-overpowered state, he would strike when the boar got close. Hit... 5 damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted August 5, 2014 He couldn't help but laughing at the boar's simplistic maneuvers as it charged towards him, "Come on you fat piece of meat, I'm over here." He sidestepped out of the way and slashed at the boar's side as it zoomed by, "You missed!" The boar snorted in anger, the arrogant words that was coming out of Zak's mouth certainly wasn't helping, "I'd say better luck next time, but you'll be dead long before that!" In a frenzy, the boar rushed onwards towards the player and the sword he held. Hit... 7 damage. Party » Zak [15/15 HP] Enemies » Boar [0/8 HP] - (2 Materials obtained!) Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The boar ran directly into the tip of the extended sword and splattered into fireworks of shards, quite like Zak had anticipated. He felt so overwhelmingly strong at the moment and he didn't even have any armor on, let alone higher skills to bolster his overall performance. Perhaps he'd be able to participate in the next boss raid, but for now, he had other pressing concerns. Two boars from afar had overheard the commotion and ran over, but Zak's blade was more than ready to take the two beasts down. Hit... 7 damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The first boar on the left reached Zak, but he was able to take a running start over the boar and run his blade down along the backside of the furry beast. If he had done just a little more damage, the monster would have been one-shot. The second pig, however, was just making it over and Zak was excited to have another guest, "Three's a party, they say." Obviously waiting for the boar to have the honor of crossing the gap, Zak waited poised to strike at the optimum time. Hit... 7 damage. Zak 0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #20 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The boar fell for the bait and as it neared, Zak leapt out of the way, leaving a huge gash in the boar's face as he did so. It kept on running and nearly struck the other boar as well that had began running towards Zak, "Come on now, not only can you oafs not hurt me, you can't even touch me!" Thinking it'd rile up the fatty that was heading towards Zak, he waited like usual, not needing to waste effort on such monsters. Miss... 0 damage.
