Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper wandered around the grasslands on the first floor. He was trapped in this death game, but he wasn't upset or scared. He had been given a chance. Thanks to Akihiko Kayaba, his body was moved to the nearest hospital, where he would be safe from the abuse of the world around him. In here, he could be strong, he could fight back, and live. The idea that people were trying to work for freedom just didn't make sense to him. They're alive, they could live their lives here. He sighs, as he looks around.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted August 12, 2014 His eyes are drawn to the monsters of the grasslands. Not aggressive monsters, they just live and exist. Aincrad is full of surprises, enemies that could think, learn, and react to you. Livestock and animals that just want to survive. Could it be any doubt that this world was truly alive? So what if it is virtual, it is an amazing place. Reaper watch as a passive monster hop to a plant, sniffing the leaves on the floor. Its eyes widen, and jumps away. Curious, he walks over to the plant.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 12, 2014 His finger reach out, then suddenly he appeared in the forest with blacksmith materials around him. His finger reaches out, touching the ingots hesitantly. A description box comes up, the words Iron Ingot appearing. In addition to that, an option to take it is there. Reaper hesitated, this was a very stupid material that no one would even use in the real world. What was he going to do with this? He remembered hearing about the profession system, and he thinks that blacksmith may have been one of the options, but he had always assumed that was for armor and stuff like that. He had never considered attempting to make an iron tool, Gritting his teeth, he selects the take option. Loot Dice: 1-10: 1 ingot taken 11-20: 2 ingots taken
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 12, 2014 He watches, as the single Iron Ingot enters his inventory, and the ingot in front of him fades away. If this was here, he had to know what else was lying around. With a determined look on his face, he starts to look around, seeing what else he can find. He figures if he finds some good materials, he could use on of his skill slots on Blacksmith, and make some interesting weapons, and maybe some armor too.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper spends some time moving around the forest, gathering materials as he can. Afterwards, he decides to head back to town, to see if he can find an NPC that can teach. Leaving the area, he heads into the Starting City, and starts to look around the area. He wanted to find someone to show him the basics, so he could start learning how to make powerful weapons and armor. He hates having to rely on others, and this in particular was something he wanted to be able to do alone.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper takes his time, reading through the various recipes on both weapons and armor. There were so many options. Curved Sword, Straight Sword, Katana, Axe, and Spears. He read through the books, absorbing knowledge and happily learning as much as he can from the recipes in the books. Finally, it was time for his test.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper sits at the table, writing down on the paper that had been handed to him. It was a quiz on the various mixtures of crafting mateirlas and other objects to create weapons and armors. The first section he easily past. Then comes a section on perfect weapons. Reaper hesitated at this section. He had heard of the perfect weapons, but didn't realize that was part of blacksmith. Reading over the option, he looks for what would make sense to create each type. Eventually he finishes the test, and hands it back to the NPC.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted August 12, 2014 The NPC Blacksmith reads over the test, then looks down at the student he had taken in. "Not a perfect score on the perfect weapons, but a passable grade. But there is more to Blacksmith then writing things down. It takes a certain touch. Go to the anvil, an prepare a steel sword. The materials are all prepared, you must simply choose which you will use."
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper goes through the various items in the shop, selecting a few to drop onto the anvil. He decided to try to make a steel sword first. Carefully mixing the ingredients, he begins to craft the sword. Success! The sword appears to be of very high quality. He hands it over to the NPC, and it triggers the next phase of the quest. "Very Good! Now, you must craft armor."
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper continues to browse through the various ingredients, selecting some of the more powerful weapons. He decided a perfect curve sword would be nice. Mixing the various gathered ingredients, he slowly pours the next mixture into a bottle. Failure! The mixture vanishes, all of the materials wasted. The NPC Shopkeep shakes his head. "Unacceptable! Try again!"
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper sighs, returning to the books. He breezes though the book, looking for a good recipe. Mixing random crafting materials was doing nothing, he needed something amazing. He spends a good hour reading over curved sword recipes again, learning as much as he can. Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted August 12, 2014 After spending some time, he finally prepares himself. He knows what he hopes to make, and goes to work right away. Mixing the materials he needs, he brings the mixture to a boil, and waits to see the results. Once again, he is met with failure as the mixture vanishes.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Reaper knows if he can't get this right he will never be a blacksmith, so again he goes to work. He selects the materials he is using carefully, measuring precisely to get just the right effect. Bringing it all to a boil, he waits to see what happens. Finally, a curved sword is created, which he quickly bottles. After watering it down, he hands it to the NPC Shopkeep, so he can finish the quest.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted August 12, 2014 The shopkeeper looks at him. "Very good! Now for your final task, create a armor. Any armor will do." Reaper looks at the NPC with a blank look. No where in the books was anything on armor creation, and he was sure he failed those questions on the test. He looks around the room before finding armor materials. Unsure where to begin, he carefully starts to study each one, trying to find a way to tell what effects they might have. Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Eventually, he thinks he has figured the armor out, and begins to work on them. He begins to shape and form them, trying to get an effect out of one. While not amazing quality, it would serve its purpose for this day, and should allow him to complete this quest finally. Handing it over, he lets out a sigh. It had to be over now, right?
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted August 12, 2014 The NPC Shopkeeper looks warmly at Reaper. "Well done! You have learned the basics of the three aspects of Blacksmithing. Now, to complete your training, there is but one final task for you to accomplish, please, follow me." Reaper was outraged. This quest should be over already! He followed the NPC, angry he couldn't just cut him down. It being a safe zone, and he would fail his quest, he was ready to give up on all of it he was so mad at this man. Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 17, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted August 17, 2014 The old man leads Reaper into the back store room, and a bright symbol appears over his head. Reaper realizes this must be the end of the quest after all. He walks up to the man, and his proximity triggers the final event. "Young man, you have done well today. You have much work ahead of you to master this craft, so I have a gift for you. These supplies will help you set up your own shop, and supply enough materials to get started for the first few days. Treat them well, and you'll have great fortune ahead of you."
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 17, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted August 17, 2014 Reaper accepts the quest completion, watching as the items get added to his inventory. Once he finds a good place to set up, he would be able to start creating some truly wonderful things. Happily, he leaves the shop, armed with new knowledge and dangerous new weapons just waiting to be created.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted August 17, 2014 Author #19 Share Posted August 17, 2014 He had set out to obtain his desired profession, and had taken this goal a step further by gathering a few materials to use. He supposed that this would qualify as the day having been a success. Sheathing his «Starter Sword», he turned his attention back on the nearby city. One day, maybe not as soon as he would have liked, they would be free. He promised, that he would become the strongest player in the game.
Rin Mitsuki 0 Posted September 4, 2014 Author #20 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Reaper started back down the worn path intent on being back in Starter City by nightfall. He had managed to obtain a little Col together through his farming of the «Frenzy Boars», no doubt players would be hiding. Perhaps tonight he could go hunt some players . He wouldn't mind getting something that would drive his blood lust, even if it was simply pixels. With such thoughts on his mind the swordsman returned home, ready to slay the unfortunate ones around the fields.
