[SHOP - 1] The Mahalo Music House

~ The Mahalo Music House ~

It was a basic storefront in a busy shopping district, though Gestein had tried his hardest to make the decor feel warm and home-y. He kept the door open to let as much sunlight in as possible, and to hopefully attract patrons with whatever melody he happened to be crafting at the time. Though it had a countertop with his various wares, you were more likely to see the big man sitting near the door in a comfortable wooden chair, strumming away or making small talk with the customers.

Aloha! Welcome to the Mahalo Music House. We specialize in making your day a little bit better with the power of music. You are welcome to browse our wares, but we also take requests! If you want to have a particular song recorded, just bring us a few blank <> and we'll see what we can do.

A chalkboard hung behind the counter listing the Music House's current inventory and prices.

Current Inventory:

Monster Grenade (Perfect) - Bagpipe Frenzy - lasts three turns

Possible wares:

"Monster Grenades" - Loud sound-emitting recording crystals that drive monsters crazy, pulling a monsters attention to it. This device acts as a hate/aggro magnet, drawing the attention and ire of the monsters away from the players and towards the device for a number of turns based on the quality of the item.

"Recording Crystals" - Let the beauty of music keep you comfort in these tough times. If you need a little tune to brighten up your day, just buy a recording crystal! You'll have a song that you can keep forever and give to friends who are in need of a little unwinding. If it's something we don't know, give us the lyrics and we'll see what we can do.

Some things just feel... right. When Gestein learned that you could choose Performer as a profession, there was no choice in the matter - he had to do it. While becoming a blacksmith would have probably been more practical, and becoming a merchant more lucrative, some things you didn't do for the money. With that in mind, he picked a bustling little place in the City of the Beginnings to open a shop where people could come in and take a load off from the daily grind and hopefully find something that would make their stay here in the world of Sword Art Online a little more comfortable.

"Well then... let's get started." he said with a grin as he opened the door to his shop for potential patrons to come visit. In the mean time, he would have to busy himself with making wares for visitors to peruse.

With two <> to his name, he didn't have much room for error. Though it would have probably been more lucrative to create one of those monster grenades to sell, he wanted to see if he could make a musical keepsake for himself first.

Though the device that allowed him to access most of the skills for his profession could turn into any medieval instrument, the only one he needed for this test was a simple four stringed lute - though he wouldn't be using it as the creators intended. After fiddling with the tuning of the instrument, he was able to make it sound like a ukulele, which he wanted for it's bright and bubbly timbre for most of the music he intended to create.

There was one song he knew that he could have really used on a dark day, and he hoped that his first attempt to cover the song would do it justice. He activated the first <>, counted a beat, and began to sing a song that his mother used to play for him when he was a little boy, back on the little island of Oahu.

"Ohhhhhh Somewhere over the rainbow..."

When he put down his instrument and put a stop to the recording, he smiled. The crystal didn't break. Instead of putting it up on his auction board, he placed the song into his inventory as a memento of his opening day.

"Well now, we're off to a good start." Gestein mused to himself as he palmed his first successful craft. Although, if he was ever going to see his business make money, he would probably need some wares to actually sell.

"Let's see if we can make one of these Monster Grenades..."

Of all of the instruments available to him, there was one that he knew would absolutely drive monsters (and potentially the user) crazy: The Bagpipes - an noisy little instrument that had somehow outlasted empires and still found itself in use in the modern day.

As he filled the billows of the bag with air, he activated the <> before letting loose a torrent of sound from the pipes - just maddening, annoying loops of notes with no rhyme or reason and no melody to speak of. He kept up the barrage of sound for as long as he could, and when he could no longer tolerate the noises he was making, he gave up and stopped the crystal.

"Wahoo! That's what I'm talking about!" Upon inspection he found that he had created a perfect item on his second crafting attempt in his career. The noise would ring loud and true for anyone lucky enough to purchase the weapon, driving creatures mad enough to ignore their targets in favor of attempting to stop the hideous noise the device made.

Hopefully, whoever purchased the device had a sense of humor...
