THE PROTECTOR

Leon Murphy spent the first years of early adulthood taking care of his little brother, Miles. Orphaned after a fatal car crash took the lives of their parents, Leon became the legal guardian to his brother who, at the time, was barely a teenager. Their life together was difficult but they made it work. Money was often tight and their rent was never easy to make. That being said, Leon always did the best he could.

He was a construction worker for a small firm that nobody had ever heard of. They mostly took on small-time contracts with the odd "big money" jobs mixed in. He was underpaid but, in return, his crew was like a second family to him. He never could bring himself to leave, not even for the money. In the little amount of free time he had, he was spending time with his brother.

The age gap between him and Leon was eleven years. Sometimes, Leon found it difficult to relate to him as a brother. They grew up in different times and with different things. One consistent thing in their lives, however, was video games. They bonded over Leon's old consoles and Miles taught him about the new and evolving platform: virtual reality. The new generation of video games intrigued them both and brought them closer together. At the same time, the NerveGear and the very first full-dive VRMMO were announced.

After scrounging up the funds and vacation time he needed, Leon booked the trip for him and his brother to visit Japan. They made the cheapest decisions they could when it came to hotels, food, and the rest. Leon was already spending more than he could afford in order for the two of them to experience this together.

When they finally purchased their headsets and returned to the hotel, they were full to the brim with excitement. Leon was not sure he had ever seen his brother so enthralled in something. They booted up their consoles, intending on finding each other once they were inside the game. Leon played many MMOs growing up and he always used the same name: Warden. That's how Miles would know to find him.

They had not even left the walls of the Town of Beginnings when the creator's announcement came. Leon and his brother were trapped and he would do whatever it took to keep them safe.

VIRTUES

LOVING Leon's love for his brother is what keeps him going in the world. The goal of getting Miles out of the game alive is his purpose for finally leaving the Floor One safe zone. If it was not for him, Leon likely would not have lived as long as he has.

LOYAL Leon is loyal to those he loves and trusts. He sees more value in relationships than anything else and only seeks to protect them. He has a strong sense of responsibility and feels the need to care for the people around him.

LEADER Leon is a beacon of inspiration to his brother and a natural leader. He is outspoken, logical, and driven by a sense of duty. These things combined with his charisma and communication skills make him a key part of any group or team.

VICES

CONTROLLING Out of fear, he feels the need to be in control at all times. Leon's brother stays behind while he leaves the safe zone to train. It is the only sure way that he knows Miles will be safe. Lack of control, in his opinion, leads to catastrophe.

UNETHICAL Leon will do whatever it takes to protect the ones he loves, even if the route he takes is not morally correct. The lengths he will go to for his brother's security are great and unwavering. He is selfless, although not in a saintly way.

UNFORGIVING Those who attempt to hurt the people in his protection will suffer whatever consequences he deems fit. He is a true protector, willing to do whatever it takes to keep his loved ones safe. Forgiveness is not in his nature.
