General Appearance: Salem's body is average in build and lacking in any remarkable features. From the outside, he seems like someone who is reserved in personality. Long strands of dark hair frame his face, which is somber in expression. Despite his quiet disposition, he gives off an air of someone who can be approached and conversed with.

Attire: He prefers neutral color palettes, primarily clothes that come in black. Most of his outfits include loosely fitted items that are sparingly accessorized with silver buttons, zippers, and belts. A single glove worn over his left hand is one of the few staples of his wardrobe.

FLAWS

Reclusive - Salem is no stranger to words sounding worse than he intended. Because of his tendency to over-examine his surroundings, he often becomes lost in his own thoughts. For fear of being misunderstood, he prefers to keep to himself.

Stubborn - Few people can convince Salem of a conflicting viewpoint once he's made up his mind. Because of his tendency to overthink situations, it's hard for him to imagine any oversight in his personal reasoning. Frequently defending his opinions can quickly feel fruitless.

Manipulative - Whether or not it's his intention, Salem often manipulates people into aligning with his outlook. Knowing he can't win an argument does little to deter him from using less ethical tactics to get what he wants. He excuses some of this behavior by believing that he knows what's best for another person.

VIRTUES

Intuitive - Salem has a good sense of awareness when it comes to the world around him and the intentions of other people. He often finds himself picking up on body language, tone of voice, and subtle information that others may miss. This instinct also aids him in anticipating problems and articulating their solutions.

Calculative - Few decisions are made without thorough examination. Salem prefers to weigh the pros and the cons of each possible action he could take to remedy a situation. This trait assists him and his allies in making educated moves when facing opponents.

Protective - It's not uncommon for Salem to develop attachments to the people he deems as friends. Threats to their physical or emotional wellbeing can cause him to become defensive, sometimes to a fault. Ensuring their safety can quickly become a priority and one of his most selfless endeavors. 

BIOGRAPHY
Salem was a soft-spoken kid with a craving for adventure. Although curiosity got him into trouble on more than one occasion, he always seemed to work his way out of it by asking for forgiveness instead of permission. That was for all but one night. He'd remember meeting with a group of friends to break some sh*t and blow off some steam. Exams were around the corner and the last thing they wanted to do was study inside of their stuffy apartments. It wasn't long before drunken fun soured into a dangerous fight. With no more than a few scratches, he managed to flee the scene and beg Ayumi for a ride back home. His older sister reluctantly came to his rescue. After a stream of chastisements and "what would mom and dad think" 's, Salem apologized and promised her that it would never happen again.

Before she could accept his words, another driver collided with the side of their vehicle. A blurred collage of streetlights and strangers was all that he could recall from the scene of the accident to the surface of a surgery table. Days passed before he overcame unconsciousness and awoke in his new reality. A pervasive numbness stretched from his abdomen through the length of his legs, an injury that the empty reassurances from his doctors could never mend. Across the room laid his sister, hardly recognizable through the many layers of bandages, casts, and medical equipment.

Life would never be the same without his legs, and life would never be the same without her. Distraught and searching for an escape from his tormented state, he powered up his new NerveGear and entered Sword Art Online.
