Ascension 0 Posted December 13, 2024 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) Username: Ascension Real name: Cassian Astraeus Age: 19 Gender: Male Height: 6'3 Eye Color: Gold Hair Color: Dark purple w/ light purple highlights Origin Country: United Kingdom Birthday: June 16th Background Cassian was born and raised in a sleepy village, nestled in the English countryside where fog rolled over the moors like a soft, endless tide. The town had one bakery, one post office, and a population that barely touched four hundred. Life there was quiet. Almost too quiet, especially for someone like Cassian. From a young age, Cassian was different. While other kids were chasing footballs through the muddy fields or biking through the hills, Cassian was inside with a controller in hand or glued to his computer screen. He was always curious about the worlds beyond his own, the ones where dragons soared through violet skies, or the ones where ancient warriors wielded magic like it was second natures. Games became his escape. His passion in life. His father, who was a retired US Navy officer turned mechanic didn't understand his interest. His mother, a gentle soul who ran the library, tried time and time again to bridge the gap. Even as she attempted, Cassian felt like an outsider. Not rebellious, just... misplaced. The other kids didn't get him. Teachers said he had his head in the clouds too often, that he was too disconnected. Only his younger sister, Ivy, seemed to understand the sparkle in his eye when he talked about the stories he'd wove in the games he'd play. When he heard about the NerveGear launching in the bigger city nearby, Cassian's heart nearly stopped. A full dive VR headset? A chance to truly be inside a virtual world instead of just staring at it through a screen? It was like destiny. The price tag made it seem like a distant dream. That was until he won a gaming contest, a giveaway of a voucher that paid for about half of the NerveGear. He scraped together the rest by doing different little odd jobs around town. He mowed lawns, fixed up old PCs, even working part time at the small supermarket in town. Cassian wasn't planning to get a copy of Sword Art Online until after he bought the NerveGear, just to see a few reviews of the game before jumping in. But, an online friend from the States scraped the money together after buying her own copy. It was as a thank you for helping her debug a mod for a game they played together. The irony? Cassian hesitated to log in. Just once. Maybe twice. "I'll just take a peek." He looked at his sister with a grin, then donned the NerveGear. "I'll tell you all about it when I log off." But he didn't log off. Choosing: Set D | Support Package: (3) Starter Healing Potions (Heals 50 HP) 2,000 Col and (25) Materials Edited 8 hours ago by Ascension
Ascension 0 Posted 9 hours ago Author #2 Share Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Flaws Virtues Time Loss Pattern Recognition Spoiler Cassian has an unusual relationship with time.He easily loses track of it to an extreme degree. Hours feel like minutes when he's immersed. Whether that's being immersed in a coding project, reading, or playing his favorite game. This often can lead to poor timing and usually ends with him being late. Spoiler Cassian sees stories and archetypes in everything. Whether that be puzzles, patterns of enemies, dialogues that an NPC may have, and even dungeon designs. He will unconsciously pick up on foreshadowing, subtle details, and narrative logic. This gives him a bizarre edge, doing his best to predict enemy behavior, although sometimes, RNG rules all. Reluctant Hero Complex Eidetic Memory Spoiler Deep down, Cassian believes he's basically an NPC in his own world. That he's never going to be the protagonist of his own story, never going to be a leader. Even if he saves lives or performs heroic feats in game and in real life. He downplays them to a fault every single time. He'll intentionally pass the spotlight to others or hesitate when a bold move is needed, subconsciously believing someone else is better suited to take the lead. Spoiler Cassian possesses a rare form of photographic memory that works like a camera shutter. He doesn’t remember everything, but the moments that matter to him are seared into his mind with perfect clarity. What makes it unique isn’t just the precision, but how Cassian feels the memory when he recalls it, as if time folds and he’s living it again. To him, these memories are keepsakes, fragments of beauty and meaning in a world that’s supposed to be fake… but feels all too real. Empathetic Overly Compassionate Spoiler Cassian has always been incredibly attuned to emotions. His own and others, but in a distant, intellectual way. He understands what people feel, almost better than they feel it. He might say exactly the right thing at the worst possible time or offer poetic comfort when someone just wants to cry. It makes him seem alien, or even sometimes emotionally detached. Even if his heart is always in the right place. Spoiler Cassian has a habit of treating people with compassion. Even NPCs, as if they were real people. He'd thank shopkeepers in single player RPGs, hesitate before making dialogue choices that might hurt someone's feelings, and sometimes sit in silence after a character's death, mourning them like he would a lost friend. He was perceived as strange for this trait. To him, NPCs aren't just lines of code, they're windows into another story, one he intends to uncover.
