Typhoonflame 0 Posted February 8 Author #21 Share Posted February 8 Ty still couldn't help wincing when Star stuck his blade into the chest of their enemy. Once again, she reminded herself that they were just mobs now, and her mind somewhat cleared. She nodded at his words. "You're right, yeah...I guess I've only ever been to these lower floors so I don't know what it's like up there. But you do, don't you?" she asked, dread creeping into her voice. She'd heard that most higher-ranking people ion the guild went to the frontlines to fight for the players' survival and safe return home, to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. It was a noble cause, and one she wanted to have a part in, once she was ready. She needed these quests to be ready. If she didn't want to fight down here...well she didn't assume the upper-level bosses would give her a choice. She glared at the incoming soldiers, watching as Star created a gap between them and her. She gripped her rapeir, ready to attack once more.
Morningstar 0 Posted February 17 #22 Share Posted February 17 She admitted her gap in knowledge of the upper floors. "Yeah. I guess I do. It's not as scary up there as it might seem." He hurled himself at the pair of knights like a wrecking ball and slipped past the shielder's sturdy defense. Quickness was his skillset; he wasn't going to knock down an iron gate, but he could sure as hell dive under. The shielder stammered, surprised by the ineffectiveness of his positioning. Morningstar squeezed an attack out before the duo could reconvene and struck with a flurry of well-placed attacks. Star cursed. A sliver of health remained where it shouldn't have. Twelve measly points. The shielder backlashed, swinging his enormous hunk of metal to no avail. Morningstar backed away, regrouping with Ty. The lancer stood still, frozen in the dark of the cave. "Think you can finish him off?" He asked the novice, more to offer her the last hit than anything else. Only one Dragon Knight in battle will assume a lance weapon, gaining a 50 DMG buff and attacking on its turn. If a Lancer falls in battle with other Dragon Knights in its party, the healthiest Dragon Knight will assume the new role of Lancer. Critical Eye | A roll of 8 on their designated monster die will be considered a critical attack. Shielder | If there are multiple Dragon Knights in combat, every other Dragon Knight except for one designated Lancer will carry a tower shield instead, incapable of attacking. Their MIT will increase by 75 whilst they are defending; they lose this bonus when they swap to a Lancer. Pawn | On any attack against the Lancer, the player must make a separate roll to determine Pawn’s activation. Should that roll’s CD be 6+, the damage taken by the Lancer would instead be taken by the healthiest Dragon Knight in the enemy party.
Morningstar 0 Posted 13 hours ago #23 Share Posted 13 hours ago note: typhoonflame has left site so i will be continuing alone. Typhoonflame met his challenge head on, but her inexperience would cost her. She moved to strike the lancer but mispositioned her strike, lodging her weapon into a tough spot of his thick armor. She jiggled it but could not get it loose in time. The stun wore off and the lancer gloved hands around the blade, keeping her from retrieving it. She had no choice but to let go; however, she stayed put, struggling to free it from his monstrous grip. This gave the shielder the perfect opportunity to jump in and protect his partner. He dashed forward, slamming his enormous shield into the girl. She flew back, now without a sword and a yellow health bar. Morningstar growled, annoyed by every bit of the fight. He cut straight through the dragon knight's shield, slicing into his thick armor and breaking his poise. Then, he moved aside to take care of his own. Morningstar 0 Posted 12 hours ago #24 Share Posted 12 hours ago He knelt down, helping Typhoonflame up. From his inventory came a sparkling blue crystal. "Take this. Activate it and it'll take you back to town. I'll finish up here and meet back with you when I'm done. I'd feel more comfortable now if you were in a safezone." He expected her to argue, but she didn't. He thanked whatever god was out there and moved back into the fray, allowing her to vanish behind him. Maybe her fractured health bar scared her. Maybe she simply had the sense to run when things looked grim. It didn't matter. Whatever the case, she was safe. Morningstar stretched his dominant hand, getting ready for his final attacks. Combat was simple when he was alone. There was nobody else to worry about, nobody to keep him from acting as he pleased. He dashed forward, deflecting a jab from the lancer and digging into the shielder for a final time. Morningstar 0 Posted 12 hours ago #25 Share Posted 12 hours ago The lancer shifted his stance defensively. In a panic, he retreated from Morningstar, desperate without his wall. Morningstar scoffed, flourishing his blade in a quick, elegant fashion. He charged, impaling the knight through his back. When he shattered, a prompt appeared, indicating quest completion. He clicked it away and stood alone amidst the pixelated remains of the knight, on their way back to wherever they came from. He didn't stop to look over his rewards. Instead, he stepped back on the road to Charko, where Typhoonflame was likely still waiting. The walk back was quiet. His mind was mostly empty--void of anything but the sound of his breath and the quiet droplets of water from the cave's roof. Charko was busy, he found upon his arrival. Cracked cobblestone roads led him through the town, past inns and shops and dozens of players. Typhoonflame was seated near the teleporter. He approached with an apologetic smile.
