They gathered around a large boulder cool enough for Wulfrin to lay out a rough map of a bandit camp. He was absolutely livid at this point. Not only had he run out of NPC shops to clear out for supplies, what little he had scrounged together had been stolen by the bandits of this camp. Wulfrin was hell bent on some fiery revenge, befitting the volcanic nature of Floor 9. "Thanks for agreeing to help me out," Wulfrin smiled as he manifested a spread of meats and cheeses. 'These bandits have been a thorn in my side for too long. It's time I pay them a visit. Here's the plan. I'll be taking point. The bandits themselves wont be a problem, it's more their boss. Once i dispatch the first wave, KnightinGale, you'll be in charge of rounding up another group for me to wipe out. Riardon you'll be on energy duty again. Without thinking, he began to munch down on the provided meats and cheeses. "If my information serves, the camp isn't too terribly far from here, but we still shouldn't laze around too long. If they catch wind of our little raid we might be put into a tough spot." It wasn't like Wulfrin to leave out key details, so Riardon was fairly sure all necessary notes had already been made. He glanced to his left to analyze the unknow companion with them. She seemed to be walking two worlds, one of fantasy and one of reality. Well as much reality as you can get in a death game. Eve had been hopping from one high level player to another with the hopes of possibly participating. When Wulfrin's invite came across her inbox, which was extremely full considering she had just learned how to access it, she jumped on the opportunity for free gear and additional experience. It even came with a detailed list of what skills to take using some sort of boosted pool. Eve didn't understand a lick of it, but her stats jumped up when she did as instructed, so she didn't question it. She did her best to study up on all the things she was capable of doing now. Wulfrin scoffed as shadows and flames began to dance around his form. "Last time I checked, I was right where I intended to be." For the first time since she started this dreaded game, Eve was going to get a chance to contribute. She had located another small group of bandits not far from the entrance. With a mighty roar, she leapt into the air, the head of her hammer shining bright against the dimly lit camp. with a heavy impact, she slammed the hammer directly in the center of the group causing their guard to be broken. On Riardon's shoulder was a regal bird with plumage that almost resembled fire. Wulfrin's familiar Solaris was with him acting as a second set of eyes. KnightinGale nodded bellow him as she began to move toward the group he had pointed out. Riardon's job was simple, keep tabs on enemy movements and watch out for the Boss's appearance. That was mainly due to him not being capable of much else. His analytical mind was allowing him to easily track each individual in the camp. Every few seconds, a burst of energy would burst from him and flow into his allies. That was his other duty, keep them topped off on energy so the other two could focus entirely on fighting at max strength. Based on how quickly the first group had fallen, he would have his work cut out for him. * * * Recovery? Wulfrin charged forward, his Blade of Zariel carrying the full weight of his own strength as well as the divinity that was trapped within this very floor. While KnightinGale had chosen a heavy areal slam to open, Wulfrin stayed low to the ground, calling both flame and shadows to curl towards him. His blade blazed to life with his Phoenix Wing sword art as he darted around from foe to foe. To the outside viewer, Wulfrin appeared to be moving fast enough to create after images, each striking a single foe with immeasurable force. Another burst of divine light temporarily illuminated the entirety of the camp. Wulfrin was starting to feel sorry for the bandits, as his strike backed by the sword art was enough to kill them. Unlike the previous group, she stayed low and raised her hammer high above her head before bringing it crashing down causing tremors to roll throughout the area. In hindsight this was probably a bad idea considering their current location. If this place were to erupt, who knows how dad a time they would be forced to have. That fact never made it to Eve though. Instead she was laser focused on keeping these bandits on the back foot. They could not be allowed to gain any ground. That meant full on heavy assault strikes. Without any hesitation she glanced towards Wulfrin, while yes she was confident she could take a hit or two, her level was severely low. She was fresh into what most referred to as Tier 2. Unfortunately that meant her HP still wasn't up to par. Sure the loadout she was provided with helped mitigate that danger, but that didn't stop at least some uncertainty from breaking the exterior. * * * Recovery? "That leaves eight more to locate before the boss appears. Assuming the quest information is correct." Riardon leapt from perch to perch. He was still getting used to being far more spry in his virtual form. It was jarring how well he could move within Aincrad. In the real world he hadn't been able to move like this ever, in fact he could hardly imagine being able to. At least the physical toll of age was waved. The numbers within the camp were thinning. It took Riardon a short bit of time before he pinned down a group of bandits preparing a barricade for his party members. A burst of energy surged forth rejuvenating their lost energy. "East side!" So far the plan was going off with zero issues. If they could keep up the pressure, these bandits should fall with relative ease. Wulfrin's mind started to drift towards the boss. The last time he had gone through this quest he had proper back up. The boss didn't even make it a couple of rounds before falling at the feet of him and Coredlia. This time though, Wulfrin would get his true one on one fight. If he was lucky the Bandit Boss would actually honor his challenge. Not that they would have much choice in the matter. Wulfrin's blade cut through the remnants of the third bandit group scattering their data to the aether. They were just over halfway through the enemy forces and Wulfrin was quite impressed with how synergistic the three were. "Keep pushing!" Wulfrin ordered. "I'm on your six." * * * Recovery? Eve didn't stop. Her shield was raised in front of her as she barreled towards the makeshift barricade. Splinters and bits of iron scattered around her as Eve plowed straight through unimpeded. She was an unstoppable force coming into contact with a very fragile object. Her follow up was even more devastating as her hammer slammed into three out of the four unfortunate bandits. That's what they get for trying to cower behind a simple wooden barrier. The one she had missed attempted to run, but she had no intention of letting them escape. She pivoted around the escaping bandit causing them to run head first into her heavy armor. "Sorry love," Eve smirked as she stood over the bandit. "Can't have no one leavin'. Boss's orders. "Final group spotted near the center. Looks like they are trying to run!" Riardon's vision narrowed as he focused his attention towards the center of the camp. The bandits were scrambling to gather whatever they could recover from his party's rampage. One of them was pounding heavily on the door of a shack at the center. His best guess was that woul be where the boss would emerge. Having failed to get the attention of the boss, the bandits began to rush towards the front entrance to the camp. He had to do something to slow them down. "Solaris," Riardon ordered. "Strike those bits of scaffolding. We need to redirect their travel route towards our companions." Solaris soared into action, staying only a few yards ahead of the bandits bringing scaffolding down and blocking off their escape route, slowly directing them into KnightinGale's path. * * * Recovery? As the burst of energy manifested from Riardon engulfed him, Wulfrin's eyes narrowed, focusing on the shadows of the bandits. As he rushed forward, Wulfrin dissolved into shadows reappearing next to one of the bandits. With a wave of his hand the shadows of the other bandits began to move becoming duplicates of Wulfrin. Each 'Wulfrin' drove their blade mercilessly into the heart of their respective bandit. It was a harsh reality sure, but Wulfrin had no choice, but to call on the darkness around him to keep up momentum. Two columns of divine light erupted from the group. Wulfrin had to stop for a moment and catch his breath as his duplicates returned to him. He watched as KnightinGale rushed off into the distance. "You're taking a big risk using that ability," Konteris said within his mind. "You don't have the proper training to use it efficiently." It was a heavy sacrifice using such an ability, which is likely why he never witnessed Freyd use it. Essentially he cut his own strength to create the duplicates and as a result their exertion falls back to him once they return. While technically the numbers were the same, using it in this way always seemed to take its toll. Wulfrin grit his teeth and forced himself to press on. The final group was not to far away from his location. Solaris fluttered overhead giving him both directions and encouragement as he moved in for the final kills. Wulfrin's blade erupted with light as he slashed down the last of the bandits with speed and precision. "That should be the last of them," Wulfrin said as he was still clearly out of breath. "Now we just need the location from Riardon." "Center of the camp," KnightinGale dovetailed off of his comment. "Though I haven't heard from our observer." * * * Recovery? A heavy fist found its way burried into his stomach knocking what little air was still within his virtual form. When he came to, Riardon was tied to a post in the central plaza of the camp. His head was foggy, but his health hadn't dropped . He considered that a blessing. The Bandit Boss was standing over him holding a now emptied bucket. Only now did Riardon realize he was soaked. "Now then littel mouse," The boss chuckled as he drug a knife across Riardon's chin. "Where's tha rest o' your littel party?" "I'm sure you'll find out soon enough," Riardon smirked. Wulfrin and the Bandit Boss rushed forward clashing sword with hunting knife. Wulfrin had the speed advantage however, and with a skillful parry, created an opening large enough to get off his first stun. With a shrill whistle, Solaris soared in from the rooftop and began to claw and peck at the Bandit Boss. wulfrin looked to the alley not far off and gave a wordless nod toward Riardon. * * * Recovery? He had mustered all of his bravado and courage to maintain at least some measure of composure. Though he still remained bound, Riardon was at least able to contribute as his skill required no input from him. He watched the battle unfolding before him, blade clash after blade clash sent burst of air out in all directions. Riardon could feel every impact and each one reminded him how out classed he was in this place. Wulfrin's initial clash was ended with an abrupt blow to the Bandit Boss's center of mass sending him stammering back a few paces. Solaris screamed down from above and lashed out at the command of his master. Riardon watched Wulfrin's nod to a nearby alley, following his gaze, Riardon spotted KnightinGale primed to charge in. "Sound plan," Riardon whispered to himself. "Distract the boss while she gets me loose. You're one tricky swordsman Wulfrin." * * * Recovery? Wulfrin and KnightinGale had spotted the boss dragging Riardon back towards the plaza, and as Eve would come to find out, Wulfrin was already scheming. Wulfrin was to stroll right up to the boss and grab his attention. All the while Eve was supposed to stay on the outskirts of the plaza. Her goal was to get Riardon loose and clear of the arena. She had a higher durability and could withstand any unaccounted for threats, so she would be responsible for both of their safety. If thing went south, which Wulfrin was adamant they wouldn't, Eve was to get herself and Riardon clear from the camp and back to the guild hall. Wulfrin's opening verbal jabs seemed to do the trick. The Bandit Boss was laser focused on Wulfrin. The two exchanged blows before the boss was sent packing slightly. Then Wulfrin gave her a nod, her cue to move in. * * * Recovery? With a wry grin, Wulfrin spun in place with his sword drawn, kicking up a thick dust cloud. Amidst the makeshift disguise, Wulfrin placed a little present on the ground for his target. A heavy iron bear trap, a tool he had used on numerous foes at this point, was carefully positioned in such a way that the Bandit Boss would not miss. "C'mon then," Wulfrin taunted as the dust began to settle. "Why don't you show me what you can do?" "I'll get you for this cheap trick," The bandit boss responded. "I'm going to ki-" The boss was cut off by the sound of heavy jaws clamping shut on digital flesh. A roar of pain echoed from the bandit boss as Solaris broke off its attack.
