Real Name: Theo Mathison
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 5’10”
Country: USA - Vermont

Background
Theo grew up with the kind of family that made for great Thanksgivings but boring stories. His mom was a math teacher, and his dad ran a small hardware store in Morristown. But Theo had  always hoped for something a little more than hammers and times tables. To satisfy his wanderlust, he indulged in the little things: walking home from school the long way, epic fantasies composed in his head night after night. That sense of adventure drove him forward and lit whatever path he chose.

Fantasy always fades in the light of life. Theo grew up; he stopped wandering as the demands of his work increased. A young and hopeful romance turned into a brief and bitter marriage, and Theo’s eye for the scenic withered, leaving only a keen eye for practicality. That cold practicality benefitted him at work, and the reluctance he felt plying his environmental science background for DuPont waned day by day, supplanted by a dull, comfortable living. The only thing he missed was the sense of adventure that had once driven him forward.

He sought adventure through a fictional setting. And he was ill-prepared when it became real.

Virtues and Flaws
Protective. Edict grew up the youngest of four, all close in age. Although he exhibits plenty of qualities common to younger siblings, many have remarked that his protective instincts resemble an older brother’s. Edict is quick to step in whenever he senses something is amiss.
Idealistic. Despite its dormancy, Edict’s sense of truth lies waiting to be revived. There is goodness in the world, even if others doubt its presence or do not see. And if no one else will search for the ideal, the Edict will gladly do it alone.
Friendly. The previous qualities might give someone the impression that Edict is standoffish by virtue of being tied to his morals. But nothing could be further from the truth. He has always naturally gravitated towards the presence of others, and feels invigorated by their company. Edict finds his comfort wherever his friends are, and his drive for friendship is almost second-nature.

Paternalistic. Protectiveness extends to fault where it does not allow for agency. If Edict steps in, he will push for control of the situation, regardless of other people’s feelings. A person whom Edict defense may find their relief shift to annoyance as he attempts to handle adversity in the way he thinks best.
Martyr. If something is worth believing, then it is a hill worth dying on. Edict’s desire for the ideal manifests as an absolute and unyielding defense that disregards the cost. While belief can be a powerful virtue, Edict’s martyrdom becomes dangerous, and borders on harmful behavior.
Gullible. Edict’s idealism and friendliness intersect in a dangerous location: he believes that no human is beyond saving. Everyone in Edict’s life has second, third, and fourth chances—however many tries it takes to get things right. When someone tells him they’ve changed, he accepts their word at face value. Even with a bloody knife in hand, one word from the wielder is all it takes for Edict to justify letting them go.
