The table was set for two, a juicy medium rare steak marinated in red wine sauce coated with a rich honey glazed rosemary seasoning that was sliced in long strips. A side of small potatoes that were soft and flavorful. It had taken nearly four hours to get it right and now that it was done Gaius was still not home yet. The food was getting cold, she couldn’t tell if she should be worried, pissed or both. Walking around in mini jean shorts and a sports bra not giving two shits who saw her. “Ko, Bor into the bathroom” guiding them with a bit of an irritation in her voice. Ko turns toward Freya with her ears back at the sudden shout, giving a sigh, “I’m not mad at you, I’m sorry” giving some pets to the two kids. Grabbing a few pieces of extra steak, leaning down to hand them each one. They both get excited being huge on food motivation like Gaius was. Nudging them into the bathroom, shutting the door, she needed some air.

Walking outside, slamming the door she turns and hops up to grab the roofs ledge. Pulling herself up, she starts to climb. Sitting on the top, legs out as she tried to breathe the anger away. Realizing after a moment it wasn’t that he was late that got her so ticked off, it was that she knew what was going to happen when he got home. He would say hi maybe give a peck on the cheek and eat. After he would get ready for bed and they would cuddle like she was a damn body pillow. They both slept with barely anything on so why was he not acting like she was more than just a soft thing to latch too. Was she not attractive enough, did he set boundaries without telling her that he did. Was he afraid of moving forward or did he just not want to. He did ask her to marry him but even when he is actively here she feels lonely, unloved in a way.  

In her peripheral vision her ring on that finger, raising it up slowly. He hardly showed any emotion toward her, not unless she showed affection first. He didn’t ever share with her what he was going through with his new weapon before he got a handle on it. He asked her to marry him and there has been nothing after that, he seemed almost distant, why? Was it something that she did or said or maybe didn’t say? Closing her eyes as they started to swell. “DAM IT” as she slams her hand hard against the roof, feeling it slice open… “FUCK” looking to her open wound, why was her skill not working, why was it not healing. Blinking as a tear drips down her cheek while droplets of red fall to the roof slowly sliding down. Taking out a small rag she wraps the side of her hand and grips it tightly with her fingers. What was going on? Her heart ached with questions that she may never get answers to. She was terrified too but the difference was, he wasn’t even trying.
