Reytac 0 Posted 17 hours ago #1 Share Posted 17 hours ago Username: Reytac IRL Name: Reynold Veltac Age: 35 Sex: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian History: Reynold is a devoted family man. He put in long hours at work, organizing, planning, managing, but always, always, counting the minutes until he got to return home to his wife. Day in, and day out, he dealt with headaches, handled irate customers and aggravated workers, buoyed along by the arms he would sink into every night. For him, no matter how stressful things got at work, he always had a safe refuge at home, one he worked hard to maintain. The long hours were worth it, the tedium and the chaos were small things to handle, if it meant that he could provide a happy and healthy life for himself and his wife. The two of them kept a small circle of friends, and spent their time together happily relaxing with those friends, or just with each other, watching shows, or playing games together. Reynold would never have claimed it to be a glamorous life - neither of them were partiers, neither were prone to extravagance or luxuries, but it was a life they were happy with. And then Reynold decided to surprise his wife with a gift. The newest, latest tech, newest game - a full dive set up, with the latest game. But he wanted to be able to help her get used to the game, so, while she was visiting family one day, he went ahead and made his character to log in. His plan was simple. He'd log in, get his feet on the ground and figure out some of the basics, then be ready to help her. It was something they both had done in the past when they had time, and one of the ways the two of them bonded. But then when the time to log out came, Reynold couldn't. The option, gone. Then the announcement came, shattering his world to pieces. A death game, made for what he could only assume was one man's sick enjoyment, where they could not escape, where death was real and permanent. His world came crashing down around him - he couldn't see her again, couldn't feel her arms around him, wouldn't taste her lips against his. Wouldn't be able to hold her tight and soothe their days away, or share the small things that happened to them when they were apart. Reynold was a world away from her, trapped. He had no way of knowing how long he was lost in that darkness, trying to deny the reality. But one day he overheard someone say something, a passing comment - and it lit a fire within him. Drive came back to his life as Reynold was reminded that there was a way out. It would be a way out for everyone, sure, but he was in that everyone. The tower had to be climbed. The game had to be cleared. He had to make it home to her. Virtuous Traits: Honest: Reytac believes in honesty. He does everything he can to be as honest as possible to the best of his knowledge - and hand in hand with that, if he speaks a lie because of not knowing something, and later learns, he will endeavor to correct that to anyone he spoke the lie to. He learned early on in his marriage that relationships built on lies are rickety, crumbling things that cannot last, and applied that to every relationship he has, romantic or platonic. Familial: His family is Reytac's goal, his drive and reason to be. After issues with his birth family in the past, his new family, his wife and the family they were building, is everything to him. He envies those who had good relationships with their family, and defends those bonds, even for other people. But not just blood - he knows full well, that sometimes family is found, not born that way. Loyal To his friends, and to his family, and to himself as best as he can be, Reytac is loyal. He'll go to bat for his friends if they ask, and do what he can to help them. “The only way we're getting out of here is together.” He knows this can't be won alone, and so he believes and tries to embody that having those you can rely on, and be relied upon by, is crucial. Flawed Failings: Tactless: The darker side of honesty. There are times when a small white lie is a kindness, a good thing - Reytac struggles with those things, and finds himself prone to saying the wrong thing without meaning to. But even then, he can't stop himself - even when that would be the best choice, he can't bring himself to lie. He'll shut up and shit down first, which can be just as much a give away or bad thing, as carelessly speaking and hurting others. Grim: This is a death game, and while he fervently wants to escape to get home to his wife, Reytac cannot shake the feeling that - he will die, before he ever gets to see her again. Sometimes the lack of hope strikes him, locking him up and keeping him paralyzed. He already lost a lot of time to it once, convinced that there was no hope, no way out, and he has to struggle against that fear even now. Desperate: Reytac has a goal - to return to his love, to escape this death game and make it home. But it's not just a goal - it's an obsession, a drive that pushes him to stupid decisions sometimes. To challenge things he probably shouldn't, or harder and longer than is healthy, to get just one more step closer to getting out of Aincrad. Slowing down isn't an option - he already lost too much time, and every day that passes is one more where he isn't home with his beloved. Where his life isn't complete.
