[SP-Pt-F1] Cookin' up a Storm <<Earning A Living>>

Post Action: Talking to Maggie.

Mari sighed as she shifted her mask up. She didn't normally like wandering into the Town of Beginnings - not as an orange cursor, but with her using the Disguise skill, and keeping her scarf up over her face she was able to avoid all conflict on the way to the tavern, seeing that there was no one else around beside the quest NPC the woman let out a sigh of relief as she lowered her scarf. The Tavern smelt of freshly baked bread, one of Mari's favourite scents. Mari knew how to cook, a little - but she was a....

I'm somebodys wife.

It was crazy to think about, and Mari was one who preffered to do things naturally rather than through cardinals assisted profession systems, but with Oscar being so incredibly busy lately and her still rocking an orange cursor the woman needed to start doing things for herself. First she picked up artisan to help build and improve upon the workshop. Now she was picking up being a cook. Mari wasn't sure if she'd bother utilizing it fully like she did her alchemy, but it was something to at least try.

Mari waltzed right up to the middle aged woman, who rambled on about needing extra ingredients. "No worries." Mari said as she turned on her heel and waltzed straight back out.

Now outside of the Town of Beginnings Mari was able to breathe a little easier, the disguise skill shimmered- turning her cursor back to orange as she stepped fully out of the safe zone. This shouldn't be too hard. Find ingredients to cook something? Easy. Mari began to walk down the path, she knew there was a farm not too far to the left - so she would head there. The farmers weren't exactly keen on Pkers, but unless she stole anything they'd leave her well enough alone.

Mari came upon the farm after a brisk 10 minute walk. She'd give the farmer a cautionary glance, and he'd give her one in return. His face douring. Heh. If only he knew what she did to his bretheren on the higher floors. Not her problem right now though, right now... Mari headed into the field and started picking wheat. With her Keen Sight it was fairly easy, they broke away and fell into her hands as materials.

And as simple as that, two down three to go.

Mari figured she'd make bread, since she already knew how to make that. However she couldn't just take the flour from the farmer...that would probably result in the system thinking she was stealing from him. These quests always required you to gather things. Luckily Mari had already picked up foraging. She hadn't really bothered to rank it up, not since she had gotten that custom skill from Oscar; there wasn't a reason to.

But it was nice to have; especially for moments like these. So Mari continued to walk through the tiny field of wheat, checking which ones looked ready - she wasn't a farmer, so couldn't really tell but assumed that the ones that were a darker green, and harder to pull from were simply not quite ready yet. The ones that were ready, snapped off easily. As Mari pulled some wheat from its stalks the farmer gave her another dirty look. Hey, she was just trying to do her job. So, Mari gave him the finger.

POST ACTION: GATHERING MATERIALS

The farmer gasped loudly at Mari's obscene gesture, going as far as to place his hand over his heart in some kind of mock disbelief. "What?" Mari asked him, he made a series of flabbergasted sounds before turning away from her, muttering under his breath. Not her problem he gave her the stink eye, Mari was just giving him the same energy he gave her. Granted he was probably programmed to treat people with an orange cursor a certain kind of way.

Mari turned back to her task, this time moving away from the wheat stalks and heading toward a small planter box filled with various herbs. Ooh....Mari closed her eyes and inhaled, the scents of basil and rosemary hitting her. Two things she adored. Good, she could include those in her bread, maybe take some extra fresh basil home for dinner with Lancaster tonight. Mari plucked the basil from the planter, and trimmed off stalks of rosemary from the bush beside it.

Welp, Now she had all the materials she needed, so she would leave the farm, but not before kicking over a barrel, mostly out of spite.

POST ACTION: Crafting the item with Maggie's guidance.  ID: 251568 CD: 12 SUCCESS PERFECT ITEM
Perfect T1 Snack: 251568 | 'Cheese Roll' | Prosperity III

At least Maggie was more hospitable...

This was a piece of cake, not literally but figuratively. Mari mostly ignored the NPC as she fluttered about, trying to tell Mari how to make and knead the dough. As if she'd never made bread before. Mari sighed. "I know...I know how to do all this..." She muttered. Maggie shook her head.

"Now, now! Doesn't matter if you already know or not! sometimes you just gotta see anothers perspective, and remember, cook with love." She said with a bright smile. Mari snorted. She wondered if the NPC would have that same friendly demeanor if her disguise faltered, if she were to remove her scarf. Probably not.

After all was said and done, Mari pulled out a tray of perfectly cooked cheesy bread rolls. She grabbed two, one for her mouth and the other to keep for later before waving the woman off. There was no reason to show her true colours, or, well, true coloured player crystal. As long as Maggie was decent to Mari, she'd offer that same in return.

Another profession done and dusted.
