» About: Marcus lived a semi privileged life. His father and mother had well paying jobs. He went to a private school thanks to hard work from his parents and some government grants. He captained the schools chess club to many a national championship. He lived a good life and he appreciated it. At least that's what it would look like to any uninformed bystanders. In truth he was troubled. The world bothered him and he fought with this inside his own mind for many hours on a regular basis each day.

His problems with the world were never ending to say the least. From the cruelties in different countries to the trival pandering of the media. He hated the way his classmates pretended to talk like they knew one way or the other what the solutions were. when he tried to ask others what they thought about it he got the same platitude like answers.

"The world is just to greedy." or

"The problem with the world is..." As though the world has just ONE problem. The world was to grand a place to be plagued by just one issue. However it was through those inner conversations that he met a major self revelation. The problem he had with the world wasn't any specific problem but the fact that it had so many. It was nonsensical, random and seemingly unpredictable. Sure there were a few things you could plan for like school tests, television programs, or even the stock market if you had the brain power. But the grand scheme of things was nearly random to the point of uselessness. He fell into a state of hopeless depression. He never got diagnosed nor even accepted the fact that he was depressed but it was undeniable to any who witnessed his day to day activities through most of his school life. The only time he felt "normal" to anyone for the lack of a better term was when he was playing chess.

That was the key, that was where he felt at home, in control. He knew the rules, he could plan, he could adapt but always under the challenge of constraints. He began to expand to other games. He would lock himself away in his room for days and weeks on end only leaving to stock up on non perishable food items he could store for lengthy periods of time. Once he felt he had mastered a game he dropped it. If they bored him to quickly he dropped them. He stopped craving rules less and started craving constraints and challenges. He would devour manuals and strategy guides and quickly find himself climbing leader boards till he jumped to the next best thing. This was his life. Money was no object he made enough through sponsorship by streaming his gaming binge sessions. What wasn't covered by that he made through gambling on his Virtual successes. The line between reality and virtual began to blur but he didnt care. He was aware of what he was doing and that made it all the more exciting when he got his hands on a copy of a game that only released 10 000 copies on release day. This was his next challenge, Sword Art Online didn't Know what was coming, or so he thought.

» Virtues:

Controlling. By nature Marcus wants to be in control constantly. He chases the feeling of a game seconds before the defeat screen drops on his opponent. Those few seconds of realization that he has dominated them under there noses and they never stood a chance. He will fight for that in any way he can.

Hungry. He finds something he wants and he takes it. Through cheating the system, through brute force, through instant cunning he will always find a way. In his mind Goals are just meant to be swallowed up and forgotten about before moving on to his next thing,

Humanitarian. If your not his opponent then your his friend. In the real world he was rather antisocial. In the game when your on equal terms he is either taking care of you or trying to crush your will to continue competing. He can seem rather by polar at times but if you look closely there is a pattern to his streaks of kindness.

» Flaws:

Over calculating. Not surprisingly his greatest weakness is the one thing he thinks makes him invincible. In most encounters he finds himself out thinking himself. He believes everything can be won with a superior tactic but when he runs circles in his head he tends to run himself into mental corner when action should be taken.

Identity crises. Having spent most of his teenage years fighting internal demons of sorts he never really figured out what kind of person he was or wanted to be. This leads to damaging spurts of self doubt and sometimes crippling indecisiveness. An inner crisis at a emotion cross road is not an uncommon occurrence for Marcus.

Over Confidence. Marcus tends to bite of more than he can chew far to often. Taking most things as challenges he never really finds a way to test his own strength appropriately. To him nothing is unbeatable and this leads to some pretty detrimental situations for him.
