Shiraishi, nicknamed Ishikawa(River Stone) by some of her closest friends, was born in Kyoto, Japan yet has spent most of her life living in the Kanagawa Prefecture in the city of Kamakura. She grew up without her mother who passed at too young an age from illness. In her single digit age, this grounded Shiraishi into reality. While she could still take day to day life rather lightly, her core values involved respecting the value of life and death. Time is short in life and she intends on not wasting it. Her father, a struggling widower and caregiver to his stoic only child, did as much as he could to be in his daughter's life. He understood the pressure she was under and provided the life that she desired.

While in school, Shiraishi partook in several extracurriculars activities like Kendo and Kyudo, and is even practicing Karate enough to earn a green belt before she was even 20 years old. Kōtoku-in, Mt. Fuji, as well as four of the seven(technically eight) New Wonders of the World she has seen with her own eyes along with her father: Petra, The Colosseum, The Taj Mahal and The Giza Pyramids. She intends on seeing the rest of them along with several other wonders like Niagara Falls and Mt. Everest.

Close to her birthday, the NerveGear would be bought up by ten-thousand people: One of them would be her. Experiencing full-dive gaming was something she never expected could happen in her lifetime, another experience that she would not miss out on.

Virtues
Drive | A desire to return to a normal life breathes passion into progression. That is to say Shiraishi spends little time resting and too much of her sanity leveling and grinding. No mountain is too high for her - after all, she has climbed more than one mountain in real life.
Highly-Trained | Beyond the mechanics of Sword Art Online, Arbalest is a lethal force who can kill with a sword, a bow, her fists and even her attitude if you're not careful. No matter what situation she's in, she'll find a way to get out of it. If you're looking for a strong partner for quests, she's certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Quick-Witted | Arbalest can quickly analyze a situation and change tactics on the fly. It's a good quality of a leader but she doesn't quite have the social skills to fill the role. Still when push comes to shove she is going to find a will and way to make it happen.

Flaws
Aggressive | Arbalest is a driving force when it comes to progression. Her overwhelming desire to get out of Aincrad might make her difficult to talk to, or even get along with in the first place. All she wants is people to give a shit about their lives out of this worthless game.
Stoic | Her friends do not call her the River Stone for nothing. Shiraishi is disciplined and driven in ways others don't always understand. Ways that make her unapproachable unless she's in a really good mood.
Insensitive | Because of her desire to return to a normal life, Shiraishi tends to forget her manners fairly quickly. There are too many people in Aincrad who don't participate in the game and while she respects their desire to survive, she herself knows that survival is not living. Her encouragement often comes off harsh and somewhat crass.
