Reytac 0 Posted 3 hours ago #1 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Reytac spun his new hammer around and back up onto his shoulder, whistling under his breath. The new weapon, one of the amorphous blobs of potential that he's been given by Mari from the snowy wolves, had been appraised by one of his guild mates - he really did need to interact with him more, getting the other man's help had been the first time he'd actually talked with any of them. It had ended up being a solid hammer - a bit lacking in raw damage compared to his Initiate's, but it traded that for the first DOT equipment that he'd gotten his hands on, and while it was amusing to think of a hammer applying bleed, the wicked teeth ringing the striking face indicated why that was a possibility. He started to turn away from where the monster - a low level boar he had been testing his gear on - had died, knowing this thing was far too low for any kind of loot to drop, when he heard something flutter to the ground. Confused, Reytac turned around, and one eyebrow drifted upwards into his hairline. By all rights, he out scaled the mobs here by a large margin - he shouldn't have seen any kind of drop. The only thing he could think of, was some kind of quest drop? But he didn't have a quest to kill boars right now, hadn't since he'd been getting the hang of playing again. He knelt down and picked up the thing that had fallen - it looked like a scroll at first, until he picked it up and two separate pages came apart at his touch. The first was a map of the nearby area, and the second was a barely legible.. Journal page? He stared at it, confused, until the writing on it popped up, translated for him. Quote "It didn't take much time for me to locate my first target. After all, I've been studying dragons since I was a young child. I always knew it was the job I wanted. Now I'll be doing more than I ever imagined. The task I'd set for myself was a grand one indeed. Nevertheless, I've drawn a map of the area to ensure that I don't get lost, and will likely need to draw more in the future. The dragon's lair should be close. I only pray that the creature is sleeping..." Then a panel popped up. Offering a quest. Reytac didn't know if he had ever hit an 'accept' button faster in his life, as excitement course through him. Dragons. He didn't know SAO even had dragons. If they'd been in the promo material, he'd missed it. Oh sure, he'd heard rumors, but - this was dragons. Fighting against them, or learning about them, or meeting one and working with it - it was dragons. It felt like every cell in his body was vibrating in place as a wide smile stretched his lips. Dragons. He even thought he kind of recognized some of the landmarks on the map - enough to make his way closer and follow it more. Like a giddy school kid he started almost skipping down the path. Nari-Lanreth 0 Posted 1 hour ago #2 Share Posted 1 hour ago Nari rechecked the map, wondering where she’d taken a wrong turn. Her finger traced along the translucent material before her, following the gaiting line that designated the directions she’d been following. Her eyes shifted away for a single second as Mio seemed to twist at her side, the small kitsune spotting something in the distance. Nari found herself glancing up in the direction he was looking, her eyes squinting a bit against the light as she tried to find what had caught the kitsune’s attention. Seconds passed, before she spotted the player in the field, reading over what appeared to be some form of parchment, or paper. ’Isn’t that…’ It took her a few moments to register which questline carried the parchment on this floor, long ago having partaken in the quest herself. She found herself moving across the fields suddenly, shield and spear locked into step as her heavier armour thudded against the ground beneath boots that did nothing to muffle her steps. She was aware, to a small degree, that her large black plate mail could create an imposing sight – a funny idea to her, considering how short she was in comparison to most people – but the fact that she may appear intimidating didn’t truly register in her mind as Nari made her way across open field and deep grasses to where the player stood. She stopped several spear lengths away, common sense keeping her from fully approaching the individual. Eyes watching everything, she called out across the field, voice loud and controlled, entirely calm as she spoke, even though it carried a slight musical nature behind it. ’Excuse me, would that papyrus happen to contain information regarding the dragon hunters? Are you considering heading against them?’ She eyed the player, seeing their gear and stance. Seeing the way in which they carried themselves – not fresh into the fires, but certainly not an ironed veteran of the frontlines, from the appearance of them. Still, the Warhammer that they carried bespoke of someone capable enough to hold their own. Not that it dissuaded Nari’s concern, her eyes covering over the individual in an instant and recognising the danger they could be in if they attended the drake alone. ’If you are, I would suggest finding assistance…lest you are looking to end your life. I would offer myself, if you would take me.’ She shifted on her leg, adjusting her weight into a casual stance that still seemed to radiate some level of danger – she wasn’t the greatest fighter, most dangerous individual nor the strongest tank in Aincrad; nor was she entirely harmless – a fact that any trained eye would catch in the nuances of her movements, in the way that she held the spear loosely, but in a way that would have the point outwardly and impaling whatever came at her within a breath’s movement. In the way that her shield maintained coverage over her side in just a way that it could be spun forward or backward as required. ’I’ve faced the first few drakes before, and they’re…not overtly dangerous together, but alone they can be a concern.’ She flicked a glance towards the mountains in the distance, wondering what ever had happened to them all, before returning to the individual before her. ’What do you say?’ Nari-Lanreth consumes; Immolation Potions {1} [Tier 4 | When used, successful non-critical attacks against you deal (10 * Tier) unmitigated damage to the attacking enemy.
