Where once his profession list was completely filled, Wulfrin noticed a new line greyed out as if it was unobtained. A brief browse of the info broker forums, revealed there had indeed been a new profession added, the engineer. Wulfrin quickly gathered his things and made his way through the streets of the Town of Beginnings. At the outskirts, he found an odd new building. It was an igloo, which stood out like a sore thumb against the spring like atmosphere of floor 1. Cautiously Wulfrin crossed its threshold into a wild workshop with various spinning gadgets and gizmos on proud display. "Pretty ain' it?" A voice questioned as a small orb consisting of various moving parts soared into Wulfrin's hands. The figure that threw it seemed to be a sentient walrus. "I take it you're the engineer trainer," Wulfrin noted out loud. "It is very nice. I'd very much like to learn to craft this myself." "Got ch'nya, brin' me some bits'o scrap and I'll teach ya'. The river babbled lazily at the edge of the small clearing where he had gotten his start. It was Wulfrin's own way of grounding himself by returning to the place where it all began. For him it was peaceful. Wulfrin was only afforded a few moment before the pack of wolves made themselves known. Wulfrin's platinum longsword emerged from its sheath with a satisfying shwing as Wulfrin took his offensive stance. Let's test out this new skill. Flames errupted from Wulfrin's feet as a pair of crimson spectral feathery wings wrapped themselves around Wulfrin. His blade channeled the flames roared with power. Wulfrin's eyes shined a briliant blue like superheated plasma as his desire to survive burned the world around him. The wolves charged him as a group. The blade arced through the air in large sweeping strikes to meet them. Each blow left a sizeable gash and sent the burning and injured wolf on an express trip to the ground. Swift and agile sword strikes found their mark as each wolf received their final strike leaving them with but a sliver of health remaining. The flames took the rest as each wolf was reduced to ashes, leaving Wulfrin alone in the clearing once more. Slowly the flames subsided, slowly funneling back into Wulfrin's body. Calmly Wulfrin returned his blade to its sheath before carefully going over his earnings. Just like before, Wulfrin received a large sum of col and a handful of materials with a couple extra scales and shards to round out the totals. Something felt off though. The quest flag didn't trigger. Upon closer inspection, Wulfrin had come just shy of the collection goal, coming up one material short. "Well," Wulfrin sighed as he started to move towards the edge of the clearing. He paced the clearing's edge as he contemplated his form from the last combat encounter. His fighting style had become more refined as he trained in Aincrad. Gone were the days of wild sword swings and hoping to deal massive damage. Now Wulfrin was able to reliably hit his targets and mix in a bit of defensive footwork and sword play. The major question that lingered in his mind was if the skills would transfer. Here combat was aided by the system and with a new skill that marries offense and defense together, the real world similarities had all but vanished as of late. Wulfrin's eyes finally spotted a bundle of herbs that would do the trick. He placed them on the counter and without saying a word, the walrus shoved a collection of loose bits of scrap metal and fasteners. The two set to work side by side piecing together a small stone like object with an inner mechanism that whirred and sparked. Wulfrin was pleased that such intricate parts were now available for use in Aincrad. Thousands of ideas swirled in Wulfrin's mind, perhaps automation and computers weren't to far off. Even better, the idea of an actual vehicle for transportation seemed like a possibility. Perhaps I should look into steam power. "Damn'in were expectin' yah to explode. Good'onya. Now scram!" Wulfrin was very quickly shoved back out into the Town of Beginnings, with a new gadget as his only consolation prize. That and his life apparently.
