Murph 0 Posted yesterday at 03:39 AM #1 Share Posted yesterday at 03:39 AM NAME Jenna Murphy GENDER F AGE 33 ORIGIN Michigan HEIGHT 6'0 HAIR Brown EYES Brown ROLE Protector [♫] M U R P H There are three types of people in the world, Jenny-Bean. Most people are what we'd call sheep. They're happy just living their lives, and they don't hurt other people, except by accident. Then there are the wolves, who are just evil, and take joy in hurting and killing the sheep. What's the last one, Daddy? Well, they're the sheepdogs. They put themselves between the sheep and the wolves. They're the protectors. Which one are you? I'm a sheepdog, sweetheart. Then that's what I'm gonna be, too. HISTORY Spoiler Jenna is the product of a love between a Detroit cop and a teacher from Bloomfield Hills. From her dad, she inherited a strong work ethic, a strict moral compass, a sense of adventure, and a spine like a metal rod. From her mom, she learned to lead with strength, to live with humility, to always think critically, and to never take shit from anyone. She chased tornadoes in police cruisers, met people from all walks of life, and love watching the twinkling lights of Canada from the top of the Renaissance Center. She saw her mom cry over unpaid bills, saw her dad pull out the whiskey after a hard call. She ate at fancy restaurants on special occasions, and ramen for weeks on end. She rode the highs and the lows. She saw the best and the worst of Detroit, and of humanity as a whole. But two things never changed - the love for her family, and the desire to be a sheepdog. After graduation, Jenna was immediately invited to the Detroit Police Academy, but she made the decision to enlist instead. Inspired by her dad's guard duties, she sought out the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group. The next eight years were a whirlwind as she traveled the world, overseeing the safety of numerous government officials. She saw herself doing it forever - until the attempted kidnapping of three year-old Luca Fitzgerald. Though not a part of the guard duty at the time, Jenna had worked with US Ambassador to Japan, Chris Fitzgerald, and his wife, Leslie, many times. The event had an incredible and inarguable effect on her. Shortly after, she began arrangements to leave the MSG, then become the head of private security for the Fitzgeralds. Finding herself a part of yet another beautiful family, Jenna treasured her years with Chris, Leslie, and little Luca. He grew up before her eyes, and she was honored to be a part of all of his big milestones. Most recently, his ninth birthday, which was celebrated in Japan. With a little help from Luca's parents, Jenna was able to snag two Nerve Gear rigs, and two copies of the highly anticipated Sword Art Online. Luca became Zephyr, named for his favorite train. And at Luca's request, Jenna became Murph, the nickname he'd given her at the age of three. When it was revealed that they were trapped in Aincrad, Murph simply fell back into the role she'd always known - the protector. She and Zephyr passed the time in safe zones, working odd jobs for enough col to afford a room at an inn and food. For a while, they were content. But Zephyr's insistence that they start playing the game - fighting mobs, exploring dangerous lands - eventually drove a wedge between them. He wanted to live, and she wanted to keep him alive. In the middle of the night, the boy snuck out of their room and out of the city, convinced that a bit of night-time grinding would prove to Murph that he could handle himself. She woke to find that her guild, "ZMBFF", now had only one member. VIRTUES & FLAWS Spoiler + Disciplined Her upbringing and her years of military service turned Murph into something of a machine. If she puts her mind to something, she will accomplish it, no matter what the cost. She will wake up early, she will make sacrifices, and she will not stop until the goal has been reached. This sometimes manifests as hyper-fixation, but she uses it to her advantage. - Inexperienced Murph has zero experience when it comes to video games of any kind. She simply did not play them, and only entered SAO as a favor. Simple, common sense aspects of gaming are completely foreign to her. + Combat-Trained What she lacks in gaming knowledge, she more than makes up for in combat, weapon, and strategy know-how. Though her skills don't always translate within the confines of SAO-RPG, they do often provide her with a tremendous advantage over those who never received formal training, or have actually found themselves in life or death situations before. Muscle memory has helped her out of a number of dicey situations as she has slowly leveled her character up. - Skeptical Given the nature of her work, Murph takes nothing at face value. She believes nothing unless she's seen the evidence herself, and she doesn't trust easily. She'll present a pleasant enough personality, but it takes a lot to actually enter her circle of trust. + Adaptable Murph can slip into practically any persona necessary to navigate a situation. She never sets out to knowingly take advantage of or deceive people, but she can don whatever mask the scenario calls for. She is also able to think quickly on her feet, not getting bogged down by complications or hasty lead-changes. - Haunted Luca was, for all intents and purposes, a son to her. He was her best friend, and within Aincrad, her only companion. She loved him more than she has ever loved anyone in her entire life. And when they clear the game, and she stands in front of his real parents, she'll have to tell them both how she's the reason he's dead.
