Background: 

Lucien grew up in a household where silence was the norm and excellence was the expectation. His father was a decorated military strategist, composed and exacting; his mother, a concert pianist whose hands spoke more than her voice ever did. Lucien, from a young age, learned to read the room, how to study people without asking questions, how to adapt to situations and deliver on the expectations that were never spoken but always present. 

He was taught self discipline before affection. He learned to play the piano and violin growing up, amongst other instruments. He was a true musical prodigy. Cooking became his form of rebellion- it was the one thing he chose for himself. His parents despised it. Lucien loved it. It brought something warm, alive, sensory. In attempts to sway him from his passions, they enrolled him in all sorts of fighting classes, Taekwando, Muay Thai, Judo, Karate, Boxing, wrestling. They tried it all, he excelled in every area, but the passion for cooking remained. Thwy couldn't tire him out enough, and with a smile he would deliver pastries, or snacks to his parents in quiet rebellion, sometimes posing as the hired chef.

Over time his survival skills and softer skills intertwined; he could recite Bach from memory and dislocate a shoulder using his bare hands. Growing up Lucien had learned observation, restraint, precision. When Sword Art Online released, he wasn't drawn by escapism or hero fantasies. He was drawn to the idea of a world where identities could be chosen rather than assigned. He entered as Veil- a name chosen, reflecting both sides of the wall; protection and isolation. In the game he doesnt seek fame or leadership. He moves quietly, competently. He helps when he decides to, not when he's asked. People respect him without understanding him- and that is how he prefers it. 

Veil is not Cruel. He is not kind. He is deliberate. Every choice is weighed, every action justified by his own moral compass, not societies. 

 

Virtues:

[Deep self-knowledge] He knows who he is snd what he wants. He isn't worried about scrambling to impress. He has no identity crisis. 

[Composed] Trials and Tribulations dont shake him. He thinks clearly when others panic. He always has a good assessment of his surroundings and those hes acquainted with. 

[Loyal] Once someone earns his trust, he is unshakably devoted. It is not loud- it is absolute. He will not hesitate to come to the defense of those he loves. 

 

Flaws:

[Emotionally Reserved] He loves intensely, and rarely. To most, it seems as though he is indifferent, even though it isn't. He doesn't break his carefully crafted composure, even when hes struggling within. 

[Decision making] He chooses the solution that works, even if its cold. He doesn't struggle with morality the way others do. He makes his decisions based off of logic and personal belief rather than ethics or empathy. 

[Isolated/Self-sufficient to a fault] He will not ask others for help. He will carry burdens until they crush him rather than confide in others. He strays from interacting with too many people, keeping up a carefully crafted wall.
