[Floor 9] Cracking Knuckles

Recommended Posts

Daeron wakes in the morning of the day. Feeling the warm scorching burn of the floor 9 sun. The flare emits a glow onto the red ground that emits a generating heat on its own. Looking outside of the "Burnt Phoenix Tavern" he sees that there is hardly any activity going on within the floor. As the area is so hot, most players seem to avoid this floor. Daeron then dresses his body with the usual, being a robe that has fire resistance, and a sword which he used for everything. Daeron steps downstairs and returns the keys he was given to the Innkeeper. Paying his due amount of Col, he exits the tavern and takes a deep breath of the warm, dry air that didn't help with his breathing.

Taking a few steps on the crisp earth which was cracked from the sun's rays, he repeats a walking motion as he walks a tan path that was formed naturally in the world it seems. Daeron then draws his weapon as he exits the towns walls. Today was the day he went looking for some monsters to fight in order to make sure that he can keep up his training. He had given up on everything for such a long time that he wasn't even making sure to keep his level high. He was sure that by now there were several players that had surpassed his level by a rather larger range. Staring off into the abyss of the sky, he looks back down to see that there's a Lava Serpent before him.

The serpent slithers across the barren ground. Making slight amounts of the red sand and dust shift to it's sides, leaving a trail behind where was last at a second ago. Daeron holds his weapon like there's no tomorrow. He had forgotten how to fight it seemed, as this was his first fight in weeks, he needed to get back to the basics. Daeron then made sure to keep his grip tight, causing his knuckles to crack.

The weapon was still heavy to Daeron even more now, then ever before after having left his weapon off his inventory for a long time. He ran towards the serpent, knowing that he could lose due to his rusty experience right here. Daeron approached the serpent with ease, as the serpent had tried to bite him with it's fangs before he could get an attack, but he avoided the attack. The serpent was now open for an attack.

Swinging his weapon, the attack seemed to have power to it as the health bar of the Lava Serpent had dropped quite a large amount for a normal monster.

This time after the attack, there were only seconds to spare as the serpent had retaliated almost instantly. Biting his calf, he reluctantly and hestitantly swung his weapon at the serpent. Though it didn't do nearly as much damage to him as he thought it would, he was still rusty and he still wasn't ready for a full on fight yet. Daeron watched the serpent's fangs insert into his skin, and his sword slash at the serpent's body as well, leaving another red mark on it's body, and another larger drop in health.

Though the fight wasn't nearly difficult enough for Daeron, he would step up his game with the next monster being tougher than the last. Until eventually, he would fight a boss on his own in order to prove his worth that he truly is strong and that he can get back on his feet without the physical or mental aid of another person.

The fight drawing near to an end, was in fact comforting Daeron. If he remembered correctly, he was still wanted as a murderer. He had to become stronger if he wanted to have a chance at becoming a green player once again. He was tired of living a life on the run, but he didn't mind the fact that he was alone and that nobody would bother him. The serpent had bit him once again, and as always he retaliated, however, this time he was more confident that it wouldn't kill him and that he stayed more composed.

Daeron then held his weapon with both of his hands and brought it down at the serpent's body by slashing at it's head. Though gore and mature content was filtered as he didn't have the filter turned off, he knew that if he had it on right now, there would be a head of a serpent lying apart it's body on the ground right now. Instead, the body of the serpent lightened up into a white-blue color and radiated with a strong lumiscence that could blind someone if they were too close.

Watching as the serpent dissolve into pixels that floated into the air, he saw that there wasn't an enemy anymore for him to fight. After returning his weapon to his sheath, he took a confident and deep breath, put a smile on his face as he knew he was back in business like he always has been, and he continued to follow the tan colored trail that was leading to an area he had been trying to clear with tougher monsters within the area. At the end of the dungeon type zone, he heard that there would be treasure, and he thought there would be too, but to be honest, he hadn't a slightest clue if there is or isn't yet as he was working on that area for a while now and he feels like he hadn't even put a dent in it yet.

The floor he could remember much better now was still empty and abandoned. He had nearly forgotten why people hated this floor. It was hot. Extremely. Daeron sighed and sat down to take a break. Drinking some of the water he had brought, He saw a tree that was scorched. It looked familiar but different, probably because he hadn't seen it in so long. Daeron approached the tree and realized that he was nearly at the dungeon he wanted to clear.

Continuing North of the tree that once was, he was able to see a small building that looked like a shelter with a door that was open and some stairs that led down beneath the ground. This indeed was the dungeon Daeron was looking for. Someone had found this place too and forgotten to close the door. This roused Daeron's mind thinking that someone else may indeed be working their way to clear the dungeon.

Walking down the stairs after he closed the door behind him, he didn't hear anything but his own footsteps. Normally there would be growls from monsters and hisses from more serpents. Nothing. Silence was all he heard. He finally reached the first room which he had cleared before, and he saw everything had already been defeated. When he simply walked through the room, he entered the next room which was already cleared out too.

It was strange... Daeron had never been able to get past the second room because he was always overwhelmed by too many monsters at one time. He ran his hand through his hair to find that the third room had commotion coming out of it. Opening the door to the third room he saw many monsters in the room. From low leveled hordes to high leveled fire giants.

In the center of the room was a person. Or a massive suit of metal it looked. He held a shield and he had a one-handed straight sword he swung around as he blocked the attacks of the monsters. Daeron grabbed his weapon and knew that maybe this person could team up with Daeron to make it to the end. Daeron ran in for the attack when he suddenly heard the person yell at him.
