[SP-F3] Pendant Perchance? (Complete) <<Search for the Hoya>>

Recommended Posts

Tristan heard of a pendant said to highly sought for as a gift, thinking how he could do with something like that. It sounded rather nice to get, maybe even having a chance to give it to someone. Well it was a nice idea anyway.

He walked towards the Forest of the Wavering Mist, which was pretty much what it says on the tin. It was a misty forest, which made it rather difficult to navigate where on earth one was even going. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack, except the haystack recently had smoke grenades set off inside it and also has guardians around the needle.

Tristan scanned the area for anything he could find that looked like the right way to go, which was pretty much any way that wasn't a tree obstructing. He sighed.

After running into several trees and getting lost twice, he came across a clearing of trees which looked like a pathway. "Finally..."

Tristan trudged through the tree pathway, feeling rather threatened, or rather shut-in, by the trees towering over him to his sides. It didn't make him feel all too happy and made him nervous. Well, time to see what was in store for him.

"Oh."

A large minotaur appeared in this maze like environment and appeared to guard one of two entrances in this forest maze to the pendant, the other entrance on the other side if they somehow wound up that end instead. Why did this suddenly remind him of Greek mythology?

Regardless, a giant Minotaur with a vicious axe was there, never a fun thing to see.

"Time to take you down." Tristan said, withdrawing his spear and ready for the first attack.

Tristan jumped forward towards the beast that was the Minotaur. As the opening move, he had to admit it wasn't half bad, hitting the opponent and sending them sniffing out steam from their nose in anger. Clearly the beast was not happy from being antagonised, but Tristan was not going to let that stop him. He began to wonder what the <<Pendant of Minos>> would look like and who in the future he would hand it to.

The Minotaur jumped forward, their axe arcing in the air. It would have probably have cleaved Tristan if he didn't roll out of the way, which had the attack completely miss him. The Minotaur was potent, but their movements seemed rather easy to read. Tristan brought his spear up again for the next attack, preparing himself and trying to stay calm.

Tristan used the time that the axe was swung down to stab at the beast, the spear piercing the arm that held the axe. If Tristan kept calm and continued with precise strikes, this battle should be over with little to no issue. The spear was already beginning to be covered in blood. He really needed to invest in a cloth to wipe his weapon down with to avoid it from rusting, if that is even a thing in SAO. He supposed wiping down a spear was a habit from real life.

Clearly the choice of attacking the arm was a suitable idea, because the boar attempted t swing the axe with the damaged arm, but completely missed Tristan. They mooed in rage. Wait, Minotaurs go Moo? Well, he supposed they were from the same family as cows and such, but it still seemed rather odd.

Regardless, Tristan dodged the axe with ease and readied himself for another attack on the enemy as the axe passed them harmlessly.

Tristan thrusted at the enemy, but the attack just missed them, brushing the enemy shoulder for no damage because it just didn't simply cut them for not being close enough. He did a fair job cutting the mist though, even if it was completely irrelevant to the battle. At least it meant he could see around himself better than most. Well, there was still an attack to be dodged.

This time, the Minotaur actually got a hit on him. The axe travelled in the air towards Tristan. He managed to bring one armoured arm up to guard the blow, but the sheer power of it made it painful, still receiving damage for the blow. Tristan cursed at his own incompetence and readied his spear to attack the enemy again.

Tristan counter attacked from where he was hit, slamming the butt of the spear into the stomach of the Minotaur. It hit point, since the Minotaur mooed again, still a weird thing to hear, from which sounded like in pain. Tristan used this time to attack to properly attack the monster, slashing the stomach with a horizontal sweep of the spear as though it were a glaive.

The Minotaur grew angry at the man for hitting them with the spear, slicing their stomach and sending their HP to yellow. They stomped the floor, causing a miniature earthquake, shaking the ground. Tristan felt himself fall and hit by the shock of the attack, though some of it was absorbed by his armour. Nonetheless, it still hurt though!

Tristan used his Acrobatics to jump to his feet quickly, bringing himself back up to the air and ready to engage again. As such were the perks of a Performer.

Tristan then, quickly back up on his feet, thrust forward with the spear at the Minotaur who was at yellow health. He hit gold, or yellow to be more exact, since the monster took further damage. Tristan smiled with the result at hand.

The Minotaur grabbed the spear and used it to swing Tristan away, who was sent flying into a tree. "Ooof!" Was heard as Tristan hit against with his back at the tree. He shook his head to regain his senses and readied the spear again for combat. Hopefully this battle would last little longer and he come home with a reward in tow.

Tristan ran at the Minotaur with the spear, effectively charging them with his attack. He wasn't sure whether it was worth it, being a rather reckless move, but he just wanted this battle over and done with. Clearly the god known as Kayaba Akihito heard him, as he got a hit on the enemy, bringing to the red zone. The song Danger Zone began playing in his head as he thought about a musical way to demonstrate the red zone in SAO.

The Minotaur was not about to give up, and clearly was well versed in being in the Danger Zone. Tristan was suddenly punched by the MInotaur, having forgone their axe. It was potent, the large fist sending him flying. Tristan could only say "Owww...." as he got himself up from the attack to the face. A 'In your face' tagline was rather relevant in this situation.

With one last move, Tristan threw the spear at the Minotaur. It scattered to pieces as pixels, the death of the Minotaur clear as crystal. Tristan breathed a sigh of relief, being covered in several cuts, though not being that close to yellow yet. He picked up his spear and walked to the centre of the maze room, where there stood a large crystal Pedestal.

Upon this pedestal, there was a shining light, like a ball. When he grasped the ball of light and held it in his hands, it transformed into a pendant. He wasn't quite sure what the symbol on it meant, but regardless took it. With this, he had also finished the quest and was sick of doing anything else, so did not bother to farm for Mats. Blame his apathy for that.
