[Solo-Party] To Hunt Or To Be Hunted <<Blood In The Sand>>

Recommended Posts

-Inside the floor one tavern L talked to a young player about the sand boss rumours-

L kicked back on his chair inside the tavern "So there's a repeatable sand boss supposedly stronger than Avalanche?" He snorted "Can't be too hard at all, what are you yapping about?" He snapped at the boy who mocked his strength "Well, s-sir, they also said it dropped better rewards th-than that avalanche boss-s a-an" L sighed and cut in "Don't worry about it boy, thanks for the information don't think to hard or you'll pop a nerve" He threw him a small bag of Col for the information "Don't spend it all at once" He laughed at himself when he said that, he sounded like an old woman but it was fine, he had all the information he needed, this sand shark was going to meet its maker. "To hunt, or to be hunted"

Far beyond the sundown, far beyond the moonlight on a cold winter morning In the time before the light he made his way through the blackest plains of hell that was the desert of floor five. "This shark won't know what hit it" He continued through the desert, it was still dark which kept him relatively cool. He began to go over his battle plan in his head, sand shark was said to swim through the sand and launch itself out to attack like a torpedo, if he was to predict the angle in which it came out he would be able to dodge it relatively easily. It was said to have 50 hp and do 3 damage per attack, decent stats but wouldn't be anymore difficult than avalanche, or so he thought.

As the red day was beginning to dawn, and the lightning cracked the sky he pressed on against the harsh sand with the wind picking up and some of the sand blowing against his face. It was unusual to see lightning in deserts especially since it wasn't even raining but it was winter and relatively cool, it signalled hells bell which reminded him of badass boss fights he used to have in other games he played at his uncles house. He brought up his menu and started to play some acdc to keep him company. He looked around if he could notice any signs of the sand shark terror that was reported to be somewhere around this area."Hmm.. i wonder" He looked off into the distance and noticed some ruins partially buried in the sand, it was his best bet so far.

He made his way to the top of the sand hill where the sand ruins where and felt a tremble in the sand underneath him "Right on the money... lets get this show on the road" He smirked as the sand shark busted out from the ground, it wasn't a real attack just a warning sign to back off. L simply smirked and drew his blade "Livin easy, lovin free!" The sand shark launched itself out again this time with its jaws wide open "Season ticket on a one way ride" it was a good attempt but not good enough he simply side stepped it "Askin' nothin', leave me be!" he tried to counter by barely scraped its sand covered scales. He humphed with a smile "Takin' everything in my stride!" He swung his blade around a bit to warm up.

The shark began a barrage of attacks as L began to swiftly dodge them "Don't need reason" One attack barely scrapped him "Don't need rhyme" He smiled as he just barely missed another attack "Ain't nothin' that i'd rather do~" The shark came out directly from beneath him "I was not expecting this" He jumped back but the shark got a clean blow on his foot, the pain was excruciating. "Ok time to get serious.." He swung at the shark but it let go before it could get hit disappearing into the sand again.

Running back through the morning light there was a burning in his heart, he weaved in and out of the pillars as the shark swiftly chased him down smelling his blood. "Alright i've got this, i just need to hit the bugger!" He ran up the seems of one of the pillars, the shark jumped out to bite him and drag him back down but L jumped back off the pillar before it reached him. The shark found itself eating stone as L saw his chance and cut diagonally up the back of the shark just under its top fin. The Shark seemed to slither back down into the sand. "I think i might be able to do this"

He had spoken too soon however as the sand shark bursted out in rage for an immediate counter attack against him. He tumbled to the side to attempt a dodge but the shark knocked him back down with its tail and disappeared into the sand once again. He struggled to find his feet, sand was a very difficult terrain to manoeuvre on. As he fumbled around on his feet the shark launched itself back out biting his left arm. "You little buggar!" He swung his sword back at it but it was much too late as it had already retreated back to cover. "Im not going to let you get away with another one of those you overgrown goldfish!" His eyes where a more menacing red as he tried to track the sharks movements, he wasn't doing a very good job at it though.

The shark had put out a very good fight, it was much stronger than he had expected it to be but he knew it couldn't keep up such an aggressive onslaught of blows, if anything that was Ls speciality. "All right then.. you've asked for it now" His long thai machete was heavy in his hand, slash didn't seem the best option for this fight but it did the job. The shark had silently crept up on him while he was lost in thought and emerged from the ground with a slight *thud* type noise. He had expected such an attack and simply turned with one swift motion slashing its face and making it turn back into the sand to recover. "Tch, don't underestimate me"

L began to grow bold as the sharks attack patterns slowly began to shake up, it curved its trajectory with each strike making it hard and harder to hit it. However its aim seemed to be off, L kept dodging swiftly and carelessly as if the shark wasn't even trying to hit him. It was a blur of movement, a feint image of yellow and brown as the wind carried the small fibres of sand up into the sky, his eye darted from left to right trying to keep up with the beast only paying off in what seemed to be a stalemate. "Your getting tricky aren't you.. don't think you're off the hook just yet"

A good few minutes had past and still neither of the fighters gave in to each other, both seemed to specialise in being speed demons never giving up on trying to attack and never letting up with getting hit. The shark just barely scrapped past his head and his blade just by its fin but alas no progress was made from the skirmish. "This is getting bothersome.." He gripped his sword tight and examined the sand beneath him "Come on if you can just predict when he'll come out..." He grit his teeth as he examined the sand plains carefully.

L began to get frustrated, neither of the two where making any clean shots. "I will hunt you down.. and i will kill you.. just you wait you monstrosity" The shark tried for another surprise attack letting the battlefield grow quiet, it was a good short rest for L but he wasn't done with the fight just yet. The Shark bursted out of the ground with its jaws wide open in an angle that put him off his balance only being able to dodge for the time being. "You land whale.. i will not lose here!" He swung his sword and scanned the area searching for it once again. The stalemate had to be broken.

Another skirmish of attacks broke out between the two, it seemed the sand shark was determined to see him die, still hooked by the scent of blood coming from his offhand arm. He closed his eyes and thought deeply of a strategy he could use for his next attack against the sand shark. If his calculations where correct he could go on a large chain attacking spree against the beast. His arm guards seemed to hum angrily, he wanted an offering to them and they wanted one soon. Judging by its attack patters so far it seemed to attack in a diagonal pattern crossing through the intersections and changing it's next attack based on the angle of its launch and landing. With the attack pattern already in mind all he had to do was wait for the shark to make its next move, he would then calculate the angle it landed and base his next strike off of it. The shark flew past his head and his he moved to the corner watching it as it sunk back into the sand to the right. "Show time.." The shark as expected then attacked from the left bursting out from the ground with great force and intensity but L simply smirked "Bingo!" His arm guards glowed a deep red as he brought the but of his sword down pummelling its face in causing the arm guards to do its thing sending its dark coils to constrict his prey. As he pummelled the beast he brought the blade down along with it slashing the shark all the way down from the top of its head down the middle of its nose and mouth. It flopped helplessly on the ground with a resentful look on its face.

The shark laid helpless on the ground as L walked over towards it with the sword dangling in his hand. "And so the cycle breaks and you lay helpless on the ground..." He didn't even smirk, he didn't laugh, he didn't smile, he lifted his blade and drove it into the 'gills' of the shark and twisted his blade. The energy of his shinigami armguards sank into the blade and into the body of the shark paralysing it further. "It's all downhill for you here" He pulled his blade out and swung it around in the air preparing for his next strike.

He was just about to bring his blade down upon the beast just as a sandstorm hit. The pillar which the sand shark had bitten behind him came tumbling down forcing him to draw back from his strike. "Ugh.." He was frustrated he couldn't make his attack on the enemy. The shark sank back into the ground breaking free from its paralysis. He would he it next time, he was sure of it.

L became frustrated with the whole thing, the ground began to shake again and he gritted his teeth. The beast bursted out from the ground flying high into the air. It planned on dive bombing him? Foolish move indeed, he stepped to the side tilting his blade upwards and jumped up against the force of the sharks bombing. His blade connected against its cheek, his blade travelled up side of the monster all the way to the edge of its fin.

The shark whaled in pain as it sunk back into the sand. It didn't come out again for awhile. It simply swam through the sand trying to catch its breathe back from the fatal blow dealt to it. "Come on you ugly bastard. Show me what you've got!" He grimaced and awaited the flurry of attacks that where to come. The beast wouldn't go down without a fight.

The shark circled around him with speed its rage was obviously building up exponentially. Its fin came closer and closer circling around him just as he was about to try and cut if off the shark ducked back down and like a dolphin flipped up and and bit at his leg dragging him halfway into the sand. He jumped out quick to try and regain his ground but the shark prepared to make its next attack.

Just as he suspected the shark burst out furiously again. A barrage of attacks where made and it was like the way it was at the start. Neither giving in to each others attacks. Left right down up it was an endless blur of attacks both missing completely during the length of the skirmish.

The battle seemed to be drawing its limit. He could feel the shark beginning to slow down, it was natural after all. Kayaba wanted it to be realistic so A.Is would also tire with battles, only seemed fair. In the end L was much too fit for the beast, he was in fact getting tired to but swimming through sand took much more effort than jumping around on it. It took the sharks whole body of muscle just to move an inch and all he had to do was move his feet. The shark was to attack again, this time it was going to be half assed, he could feel it.

As expected the shark slowly bursted out of the ground, jaws wide open to make up for its lack of effort. He swivelled in place ending up adjacent to the sharks body and slashed along its other side giving it a very similar cut to his last critical, he was much too tired himself to put in the same amount of effort but this attack was effective enough. The beast sprawled into the sand and didn't seem to want to move. L smirked, if it gave up now it was already dead.

The shark swam slowly circling around him, it didn't seem to want to fight anymore and maybe it didn't have to. It wanted to give up, he could tell. It was painfully obvious to see, it literally had no will to continue the battle. "Very well.. since you want to die so badly then i'll bring death to you" He started to walk the same direction the shark swam, slowly catching up to it. "Sleep tightly, these rand ruins are your tomb" With those words he sunk his blade deeply into the ground impaling the shark beneath the sand, a torrent of sand shot up from the ground as it roared in pain but it was dead now. The gold polygons mixed with the sand rising into the air and he smirked, just as he suspected the shark wasn't as powerful as it was made out to be "How disappointing"
