» History: Cee was born Karl Heinrich Ferdinand Gloystein in an isolated zone of southwest Germany. He came into the world as the first and last child of Joachim Gloystein and Beatrix Jaeger. While one would expect that the only son of a pair of somewhat lonely parents to become an enormous center of attraction, he did not. He was merely the offspring of two extremely wealthy and powerful families. Their marriage had been one of interest, and his birth had been planned for him to become nothing more than a link that fortified the bonds of both clans.

 

His father, an extremely occupied businessman, representative and high-status employee of a large, international corporation. His mother, a serious actress, star of many a blockbuster, named Knight of the Arts by the French President. Both found that the several airports around the world were more their home than the large manor in which their son resided along with the various servants, maids and butlers. The young boy himself found that the men and women in black and white were more his parents than anyone else, as they were the ones who raised him for the largest part of his early life.

 

As he struck the ripe age of six, Karl was a curious, though disciplined young boy. With the blonde, straight hair and the icy blue eyes of an angel, a face that rivaled Narcissus', and a keen intellect coupled with a desire to learn comparable only to an Ancient Greek philosopher's, the boy was bound to become the whole future of his families, with ridiculously high expectations and faith bearing down on his small shoulders. He possessed the physique and posture of a German, tall, proud and firm.

 

Acknowledging the diamond in the rough that they had been gifted with, his parents were quick to go about and tailor him to be perfect in every aspect. The best teachers of Germany, Scotland and England were hired to live at Gloystein Manor and educate the young boy in the various subjects, ranging from German and English, to History and Geography, passing by Psychology and Sociology and even Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Lastly, but surely not least, his parents had his physical development in mind, hiring a Russian woman, former Olympic Gold Medalist to instruct him in Gymnastics and maintain him in top physical shape. Moreover, they hired a Spanish instructor in fencing to teach him the art of fighting with a rapier as both his main sport and family tradition. In order to cover for his artistic side and development, they signed him up for lessons with an Italian violin Virtuoso.

 

Up until his late teens, Karl grew. And grew...and grew, becoming one of the tallest people he knew. His physique was perfect, with him having luck in the way that his face had remained just as if not more beautiful with puberty, along with his whispering, soothing voice. His parents couldn't be more satisfied. His clan couldn't be more ecstatic. His maids and butlers couldn't be more proud of the little blonde boy they had raised. He himself, however, wasn't sure about himself. He wasn't happy. Or was he? What was happiness even? Was it physical satisfaction? If so, he was happy. However, something was lacking.

 

Later on, he'd learn that that something was human interaction. What was missing were people. His maids and butlers were good to him, and his parents had found they were even more present. But aside them and the various relatives he went to visit from time to time, he knew practically no one. His life was one of study, exercise, sleeping and eating. Although his ability to cast and form independent thought was one he freely possessed, his parents disagreed with the idea of him walking out and meeting other people of his age, as it could disturb his yet unfinished development.

 

Thus, they attempted to distract him from this goal with material wealth. They bought him the latest of consoles, the latest of games and the best possible internet connection. With so many new options, with so many new tasks to perform, surely he'd be diverted. It worked. He took up Cee as an alias for his gaming persona, delving deep into the gamer community. In a way, he had gotten what he wanted. An infinite number of people with which to associate, an infinite number of places to meet, an infinite number of obstacles to overcome.

 

Later, when he turned eighteen years old, he acquired the NerveGear and the ridiculously hyped game, Sword Art Online. For people as wealthy and influential as them, it was no big deal to do so. As the boy logged into the fantastic world, ecstasy was the only word that could describe his reaction. He could now physically - or something extremely close to it - interact with others. With ten thousand others. More, he could not have asked for.

 

The grave news soon came however. On the outside, his parents were nothing short of outraged at the kidnapping their son had suffered and how impotent they felt, but at the same time held faith in their son, knowing he would definitely beat the game, come out as one of the winners and make their families proud once more.

 

Of course, like many others, he also fell into severe shock as he heard the madman's words and rules of the game. "Die in the game, die in reality. Try to quit, die as well." All for the sake of whatever motive it was that his madness could explain. The boy fell into a state of pure and absolute insecurity, obsessively repeating the same Liechtenauer script he had read so many times in fencing lesson.

 

"Young knight, learn to love God and honor noble women,

so your own honor may grow; Practice chivalry and learn
the art which adorns you and will glorify you in battle.
Grappling is good, yet better are the lance, spear, sword and knife
to make use of manhood, which in other hands remain useless.
Strike hard towards the enemy, rush toward, hit or let go,
so that the masters who bestow the prize will disapprove of him and not of you.
Understand this, that all things have propriety, length and measure.

Whatever action you intend, you should keep your good judgement.

For absolutely no other reason than for instinct, he repeated this piece of writing for hours on end while his equals departed from the place at which they had been told they were doomed. Somehow, someway, this saying was buried deep into his subconscious, setting the guidelines - which would determine his behavior, be it slight or extreme - for the structure that would keep his own persona and sanity from falling apart. To be honorable, to act as a Knight and a gentleman, to carry himself with decency and self-respect while at the same time keeping his wits about him. He also begun to hand Religion a whole new meaning and began to take it as something essential to his own life.

 

Now, recovered and improved, Karl, AKA, Cee, is ready to take on the cruel world that is Sword Art Online.

 

» Personality: Cee has become, as of the beginning of Sword Art Online, a somewhat different person, conserving three things from his past self - his Virtues, his Flaws and his memories, although the last ones are somewhat blurred in the back of his head. 

 

Cee is a person that follows a Code of Honor, specifically the one of  a Knight, most importantly the "be courteous, do not harm an innocent, help those in need" morals.This does not mean he has no self-drive or ability to act out of these morals. They are merely guidelines for the average day. If he is pressured enough, he might break them. Especially if his Religion is questioned or insulted to the point of driving him mad. He does hold a darker side, marked by his masochistic, obsessive and zealot-esque tendencies. He is a judgmental person, even though he does consider and take into account other people's opinions, not allowing his quirks to overcome and replace his intelligence. He desires friendship, companionship, loyalty and the ability to trust someone, and, as a polite, nice and sympathetic person, he can easily achieve this. The problem is when his morals are questioned, when his plans are foiled and when his faith is tested. Only in times of great stress does he demonstrate these flaws, but when he does, there's no hiding them.

 

He has a particular weakness and fondness for all that is beautiful, including people, objects, any form of art - especially music - and situations as a whole. He believes that beauty is something everyone may achieve as long as they wish and strive for it, and when they do, it becomes something to take pride in.

 

His hobbies are to spend time creating new music with his Violin, though this hobby was somewhat discarded thanks to the world of Sword Art Online. Another one is to simply meet and interact with people. As long as they don't get in his way and repay his nicety, he is an extremely charismatic person, not afraid to speak his mind, but who also knows when he's crossing his line. Another of his qualities is his trained etiquette. He knows his place in all situations, as well as how to react to and act in the presence of someone.

 

Lastly, he is an extremely faith-driven person. His God is his light, and even though most don't see this, it is one of if not THE most important part of his life. It is the only thing that maintains his sanity intact, and the only thing that powers him through his endeavors.

 

» Virtues:

 

Ambitious: Cee is a man of ambition. No matter the time, no matter the place, no matter the situation, he's always moving towards something. Without his ambition to become or achieve whatever is at hand, he is nothing, but he does not have to worry about it, as there is always something there for him to look forward to. Ambition is one of the various things that drive him forward. This ambition does not blind him, however, it simply makes him determined.

Courteous: Raised in a powerful, ancient, wealthy and up-class family, Cee has grown courteous, able and willing to display manners, unwilling to take unfortunate situations too far. He always knows his place and, no matter the class or status of a person, he is always willing to show them some consideration over their own thoughts and opinions, believing it is the least he can do.

Faithful: Cee is, quite simply, a man of faith. Raised a christian, he holds a deep respect towards his God, rarely doing or taking part in a large endeavor without first praying and thanking him for his opportunity to do so. This faithfulness keeps him positive in rather negative situations, leaving him willing to walk the extra mile if he believes this is necessary. He is also known to recite Psalms.

 

Honorable: Another aspect of his up-bringing, he was raised to be a modern "Knight". Honor is essential to him. Loyalty, Dignity, Respect, Honesty and Generosity are concepts that he struggles to maintain a part of his own personality and soul. He would never strike a downed enemy unless forced to do so. He would never strike a person whom he believes to be below him in strength. These are just a few of the rules in his Code of Honor.

 

Majestic: Although in a non-arrogant manner, Cee maintains a certain aura of "superiority". He was born a noble, raised a noble and will continue to live as a noble. He holds slight pride in this, but does not allow it to become one of his flaws. He is "classy" and elegant, and if anything, he takes his superior birth and family as things that force him to take more responsibility. This is shown as his predisposition to try and become the leader in a group or to direct operations so others do not have to do the same.

 

Persistent: Cee is an extremely persistent person. If he desires something, nothing will stop him in his path to it. Will-power is his middle name. To him, he is he and the rest is either with him, on the sidelines or in his way. He will never hesitate to push on, and this is one of the few qualities that give him his "never give up" attitude. This is infectious, and he tends to pass it on to teammates.

 

Self-Sacrificial: One of the most important parts of his Code of Honor and faith, Cee believes that compared to others' his life is expendable. If there is a comrade or an innocent person in danger, he will gladly take their place, for pain dealt unto him is nothing, and pain dealt unto those dearest to him is hell. As a man of Faith and as a modern Knight, it is up to him to protect others with his own body.

 

Intelligent: Raised in one of the wealthiest German families, he has received incredibly advanced education, granting him deep knowledge in many diverse areas of life, the world and existence itself. He seems to always have an answer and may react to and process new information extremely quickly. His obsession over Chess and Wars has granted him combative strategical knowledge that most do not possess.

 

» Flaws:

 

Deranged: Despite his primarily curious take on Sword Art Online, Karl Heinrich Ferdinand Gloystein's mind has suffered drastic alterations. Suddenly confronted with a reality that is nothing but insane and the very possible demise of all other players, this young boy, barely an adult, has created a whole new set of morals for himself and clung to religion and his own survival in order to maintain his sanity. These morals may be questionable for other, more stable people.

 

Fanatic: One of the "life-savers" he clung to, Religion is an extremely important part of Cee's life. To him, God is the only thing that can give him and whoever partners up with him the strength to overcome their obstacles and manage to survive the trials in their future placed by the Devil, who, to him, is the game's creator. However, he becomes extremely attached to his religion. Anyone that attacks it is sure to earn a negative attitude from him. He clings to it for dear life and will turn into a preacher if the situation is required, blaming his poor faith. (One of the many signs of his mental divergence.)

Fickle: Unstable and erratic are the expressions that perfectly describe Cee if he finds himself in a situation where neither his ambition nor his religion may help him. His morals are easily turned upside down, a sign of a person who has grown with a lack of structure and parental intervention, and he may be easily convinced if the other's arguments seem reasonable enough.

Idealist: Cee's ideals, whichever they are at the given moment, are something he strives to maintain. Without ideals, without something to look towards, he believes that an individual is without purpose or soul. As such, he defends his ideals with everything he can muster, bearing intense hatred for those who attack them with aggressive intentions or condescension. 

 

Judgmental: As a man of faith and of his ideals, Cee becomes judgmental when facing someone with ideals that oppose his, and is willing to judge a person based on first impressions and appearance, despite his ability to consider them and their opinions before formally and mentally "stamping" them as this or that. This may interfere with his ability to be rational, and thus, hinder him. However, he does not see it as a flaw to himself, but rather a way to maintain things simple.

 

Masochist: A part of him from even before he logged into Sword Art Online, Cee is a masochist. He enjoys pain, up to the point of lunacy. Before SAO, he used to cut himself on his arms, also utilizing whips on his own back. To him, it was a way to blunt the emotional pain he felt all the time, and soon enough, it went from small relief to an obsession and a sick way to obtain intense pleasure. Be it a small cut or the loss of a limb, Cee will laugh with perverse glee at the sensation of pain.

 

Megalomaniac: Ambition is necessary up to a point. When one's ambition grows out of proportion, it threatens to hinder their train of thought and scourge their soul black. Cee's inherited a bit of his father's megalomania, obsessed with what is great and amazing. His goals are also set ridiculously high. In his opinion, it is better to burn out than to fade away. In a world such as Sword Art Online, this "kink" of his is only fed further. That which is beautiful, enormous and pleasant is what Cee appreciates.

 

Obsessive: Another negative side of his ambition, Cee has become extremely obsessive. Clinging to this or that is what keeps him sane. He takes it to the utmost absurd. If he desires something or someone, he will not stop and his daily life will be consumed by his desires and obsessions. He attempts to control this, but sometimes his emotions take the best of him if he does not get his way, something that is marked by his next flaw.

 

Spiteful: If Cee's plans are foiled, one of two (if not both) of his characteristics will come forth. The first would be his fickleness, as he would have no idea what to do or how to react, and thus, become an extremely energetic and paranoid person. The second is his spitefulness. He holds great grudges and extreme hatred accompanied by Ire against those who oppose his will and objectives. He is known to hold rivalries against those who do so, and he is very capable of promising vendetta to one of them.

 

Zealot: Last, but certainly not least, his worst flaw. As mentioned before, Cee is a deranged idealist and a fanatic. In situations of extreme stress, this will turn him into an outright Zealot. He will defend his Faith, his Ideals and his close-ones with the fierce rage and fury of a cornered animal. He will not hesitate in putting his own life and well-being on the line. He will also lose rationality and attack the enemy with the sheer will and intention of annihilating them with extreme prejudice.
