((NB: Now ya'll Mari and I have talked this through thouroughly to the point where we are sending each other our posts to ensure we both come to an agreement in them the content therein is after a mutual discussion and agreement between myself and Mari.))

I had her by her hand – a young girl no older than 4. What was a 4 year old doing within Aincad? Strapped to Nervegear? You tell me. I wasn’t her parent, I knew her father. Oh yes, and I also knew her mother. Yes indeed. What luck it was for me. “C’mon we’re going to meet someone new today.†I said to the girl, putting on a sickly sweet voice.

I had it all planned out, today was the day. My little target would be battle weary – tired –exhausted, and I wanted to use that to my advantage. This – was going to be fun. Oh Such fun. I had sent a message to Mari; sweet innocent foolish Mari.

Dearest Mari,

I have a present for you; perhaps you should come see before it….
expires….

“Hey, Evelyn.†I asked the girl – she looked up at me with big wide blue eyes – chestnut brown hair falling in cute little tressles down past her shoulder. “Wanna play a fun game?â€

The girl, bless her sweet little heart – innocently murmured. She was scared. Of course, she should be scared. But I wasn’t going to tell her that, I was going to show her that. I placed a hand on the mid of her back and continued to escort her deeper into the forest – exactly where Mari had once slept. “Now, stand here. Good girl.†I made sure she stood right where Mari slept.

“Right, now close your eyes and count to ten, we are going to play hide and seek.â€

Her high voice started, as she covered her eyes with her hands.

“1…..2….3….4….5…â€

I laughed as I equipped my Rapier, her; the sweet innocent little child – with her eyes closed never suspected a thing. I rammed the blade into her gut, right through till it hit the tree.

She screamed, and I laughed.

Time to break all my toys

Mari received a message from the last person she wanted to see – especially after recent events. She was worn out. Tired. Exhausted, all she wanted to do was curl up in an Inn and eat her weight in steak and mash potato and sleep.

Normally, Mari would ignore such a message from Uriel; but there was something about the tone of it. It rubbed her the wrong way, and Mari – had this sort of feeling, a really, really bad feeling. Mari knew she was going to end up going, and she also knew it may have been some sort of trap. So she sent a message to someone, the first person she thought of for such a situation.

Alkor.

To: Alkor
Subject: Heading into the Lions Den
Body: So, Uriel sent me a really odd message; I’ve been asked to meet him so I’m going to the second floor forest – there is a small clearing due west; I’m a little worried. If you don’t hear from me within half an hour assume the worst.

-The foolish Mari

Mari sent it, and headed toward the forest; she could hear voices, more specifically the high pitched tone of a childs voice, counting. Mari frowned, feeling worried. Children shouldn’t be playing around here. Mari knew there were kids – but as far as she knew they hadn’t left the starter village on the first floor. Were they playing here? Isn’t that dangerous? Mari then heard a scream and her cautious amble turned into a run. Uriel wouldn’t hurt a child would he?

No.

No….

No one was that deranged, no one was that cruel and heartless. Mari hit the clearing and her hands whipped up to her mouth as she saw what was happening before her.

Uriel…

The man covered in black, had his blade driven into a young girl.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” Mari screamed, almost forgetting who she was dealing with, as she bolted forward and pulled him off of the girl. “Who the HELL do you THINK you ARE?” Mari screeched at him, voice shrill and panicked.

How?

Why?

“WHY?”

I grinned, hearing the shout – I glanced up as I twisted the blade. “Hey hot stuff.†I ran a hand over my hair, pushing it out of my eyes. “Fancy seeing you here, really – is this our secret rendezvous? Our little love nest? “ I gave a mock sigh, “Ahhh, young love.â€

Mari bounded forward, I expected her to do that, she ripped me off the screaming child – oh yes – so predictable Mari. I dropped my Rapier in mock surprise – ‘accidently’ kicking it back toward the crying girl. I’d need it later.

“Oh Mari, Mari….Mari…†I tutted as I held up my hands to show I was defenceless. “I was just having some fun. Didn’t I tell you I had a present? Didn’t I TELL you it’d expire?â€

I shrugged, crossing my hands across my chest, whipping hair out of my face. “And here I thought you’d be thankful. I’m trying to make amends.†I paused, lowering my gaze to hers, I couldn’t contain my excitement, I had to clench my fists to stop them shaking. This rush…this adrenaline, this..this…THIS is what I lived for.

Screw everything else.

This…THIS!

“THIS!†I exclaimed in excitement, as I pointed toward the sobbing child. “Is my penitence – I’d expect a great, BIG HUG! After all – I returned your DAUGHTER to you!†I stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Mari, as I turned her to face the crying, probably dying kid. “Aren’t I such a great guy!† I leaned toward her, placing my head on her shoulder. “Don’t they grow up sooo fast? How old is she now? 4? It’s been a few years Eh Mari dear, I’m not surprised you didn’t recognize her.â€

The world went silent for Mari; everything had become a haze. A blurred haze through tears that now fell freely down her cheeks, Mari gave a small heave. No, no. no. no. no. no….He’s lying!

“Y-You’re lying!” Mari choked, even as she said it she could tell it was the truth. Those eyes, those big blue eyes – it was as though Mari was looking into a mirror, the matted curled tendrils, her cheeks, that she had inherited from her father…

“E-Evelyn?” Mari choked, her arms reached out to the howling girl – Mari was shaking. She knew that Uriel was there, somewhere in the back of her mind – but right now….right now..she just wanted to touch her, to feel her daughter, to make sure this wasn’t some decrepid nightmare. Mari’s fingers brushed the girls cheeks. Why was she here? Why did she have to endure this nightmare? “Honey…honey it’s ok…” Mari tried to whisper between choked tears.

I pulled her up and back by her hair before she could wrap her shaking arms around her daughter. Stepping over her, I stood between her and her kin. “Don’t waste those tears.†I pulled her face up to mine and ran my tongue across her cheek. “I want to taste them, it drives me wild.†I let go of her hair and watched her crumple to the floor.

I laughed giddily, slapping a hand on my knee. “Oh don’t give me THAT look. Aren’t you happy? Shouldn’t you just be ESTATIC!†I knealt down near her. I picked up my Rapier and swung it to and fro in front of her face. “I think you’re being a little  ungrateful. You should set an example for your daughter. Maybe you should be punished.† I drove the weapon into the ground – next to Mari’s head, I laughed. “Oh, but me hurting YOU wouldn’t let that sink in now would it?â€

I let the young woman come to her own conclusion as I pulled the dagger out from the woodland ground.

Mari gave a yelp as she felt Uriel wrap a fist around a clump of her hair, yanking her back and away from her daughter. She visibly shivered when she felt his tongue roll over her cheek, Mari tried to kick him away, arms pushing against his chest. She had to stand between him and her daughter; she had to, she just had to. Mari glared at him, a hate fueled look.

How could he hurt a child? Mari felt such a heavy pain deep in her chest. She felt so powerless. She had inadvertently become a front-liner and yet – she was so powerless against him. Despite the large difference in levels. Mari shifted her head, flinching when she thought he was about to drive the blade into her – but he didn’t.

She opened her eyes blinking back tears, her breathing ragged, as his next word sunk in. He wouldn’t hurt her…to punish her…

Evelyn…

Mari screamed, finding the extra rush of adrenaline she needed to boot Uriel off of her.

I laughed as she pushed me off of her, I rolled in the grass clutching my sides, tears threatening to burst from the corner of my eyes. “Oh sweet, sweet chickadee….†I said between gasps. “I wouldn’t KILL a child, what kind of monster do you take me for?â€

I grinned as I stood up and dusted myself off. “I wouldn’t kill your daughter….†I began with a snide remark before going over and kicking Evelyn hard in the ribs. The child cried out, her tiny body sprawling out on the floor as she tried to crawl away.

“Where do you think you’re going?†I asked, grabbing hold of her leg and pulling her back toward me, "We need to teach your mother a lesson."

Mari felt like she was going to throw up, how? HOW could he do this to her? To anyone? Why? Mari was shaking, visibly shaking. He was just going to keep doing this to her wasn’t he? Mari coughed;

“W-why…?  Why?” Her voice broke between sobs, body wracked with distress and heartbreak. Her daughter, her sweet, innocent daughter – why was she dragged into this hell hole of a world, and why? Why was Uriel hurting her.

“Please stop…”  Mari pleaded, crawling over to Uriel, wrapping her arms over his leg. “P-Please…hurt me, maim me, kill me if you have to but please…” Mari gripped his leg harder, screaming out the last words. “Please just LEAVe her ALONE!”

I laughed as Mari groveled before me, I lowered my foot, smirking at the sniveling sight before me. “Oh?†I placed one hand in my pocket, the other gripped Mari’s hair. “Then lick my boot, lick it like the dog you are.â€

My eyes flicked up toward the now unconscious child behind Mari. “Of course…that will only prolong the inevitable. I’ll still hurt her, over – and over and over…â€

I kicked Mari off of me, practically dancing over her, and back to Evelyn. “ –and over, and over and over.†I sang in a sing song voice. I leant down and picked up The limp child. “You won’t do a thing, because you are too afraid, too WEAK to stop me, sweet – little – innocent Amari…â€

That was it, something in Mari snapped. If one were inside her mind - they would have heard the literal

snap

Mari never understood what that term meant, to 'snap' to fall into a fit of blind rage...Mari was always a women who felt she had a somewhat level head. She was guarded in her emotions. Sure she was hot -headed on the surface, but who wouldn't be in her position? Mari always...always wanted to defend the lives of others, even at the cost of her own. Even if the ones she defended turned on her.

It was better than wasting a human life.

But this?

This?

"Monster..."  Mari spat the words through gritted teeth, staring at Uriel with darkened eyes, the glimmer of light - of hope torn from them with his constant berating  and vile words, dripped from his smirked lips like venom.  She equipped her dagger, repeating the word in a low hiss. "Monster...."   Mari tried to strike at Uriel but missed, her movements sluggish.

Yes….YESsss..

“YES!â€

I shouted when I noticed Mari change her tone, her entire body shook with anger, seething, writhing with hatred. Her once sickenly sweet aura had darkened. Dripping, toxic. Vile. “You’re so BEAUTIFUL like this!†I cried out in glee, she was so lost she could barely even land a strike. I wrapped my arms around Evelyn, placing myself behind her. Using her to protect myself.

“Oh Mari, Mari, Mari…If only you were like this ALL the time – then I’d probably f**k the living sh*t out of you, maybe we could make another to replace little broken Evelyn eh?â€

Mari didn't respond to him, she gritted her teeth, pushing herself up off the ground, face dirtied. eyes dark. She wanted to kill him, she wanted to rip that smirk off of his face. The tears that streaked down her eyes were the only indication that Mari, somewhere inside that mess of a girl, was still hurting, aching - crying for redemption. For release. Yet it felt as though she was simply acting out of her pure hatred for Uriel.

Mari gripped the dagger, eyes widening ad a sickening grin grew on her features. She wouldn't miss, not this time.

Not this time.

"DIE!"

SQUELSH!

The dagger didn’t miss – that was for sure. The entirety of it’s intricate blade had been driven into the chest – and heath, had quickly depleted, flashing from yellow – to red – to zero – all in an instant. The deed was done, and all was black…

But, I was not the target – Oh no, not at all…

Mari, in her blind rage – had missed me. Guess who she hit?

I sat against the tree trunk, stifling fits of laughter. One hand gripped my head and the other gripped my waist. My body wracked with laughter. She missed me, she missed ME and she killed her daughter!

“You’re a RIOT!†I shouted through laughter. “I was planning on using her to torture you some more but this! Hehehahahahahahaha…THIS IS THE ICING ON THE FREAKIN CAKE!â€

Mari seemed to be in shock, I waved a finger back and forth and began to sing in a teasing voice.

“Mari, Mari quite contrary how does your sor-row grow?â€

“You killed your daught-er, in blood-y slaughter~â€

“now she’s gone 6 feet be-low~â€

I stopped, laughing again as I pushed Mari over, equipping my own Rapier.

“This is the best…day…ever…â€
