Finally, she had gone through some of the astonishing instances that bumped her life. She regarded those first times as awe-inspiring, nerve-racking experience. Being her clumsy self, she did swim in a river, and almost drowned. She climbed up a tree and fell down. This world was her father’s present, and this had opened her life to build her own personality.
 
But then, this was Kayaba Akihiko’s world, which unfortunately lain down a trap for almost 10,000 innocent people. Just like the majority, Shizuka’s wondrous adventures turned regretful upon knowing they could not return back in reality unless all floors of the game were cleared. Now, she got a good perception and understood why her mother kept her at home all the time. “The world is evil, bias and full of miseryâ€, her mother frequently told her.

Being all alone, hopeless, and tired made her think the possibility of waking up again in real life.  With some bread and water, she did never go out of the safe zone again after the improbable announcement. She must have been out of control those days that she let herself rot sitting for several hours on a bench quite distant from the crowd. She did not talk, the melancholic feeling made her petrified.

 

“That’s enough.†Those were her first words on the fourth day in <<Aincrad>>. Without any reluctancy, she stood up and exclaimed “This is just a game!â€. Three days were spent uselessly, and the truth that she was already behind all others made her heart pounced to catch up.

This time, the pessimistic girl pushed through her way to start her mission independently. Gazing up the orange muzzy sky revealed a glorious sunshine upon her retiring timid face to a braver one. A few steps she took on the southern part, actualizing how this world was actually created. “What really is Akihiko’s purpose for this? We are not playthings. Whatever intention he has, Kayaba Akihiko is a fool!â€, she gnawed.

 

 

A usual day was taking place at the <<Town of Beginnings>>. Shizuka was struggling to subdue her social phobia against the crowd at her sight. Looking side by side, she passed by on shops owned by players who wanted to earn a living. “I must be having that chance of getting any professions I please, mustn’t I?†After seeing blacksmiths’, tailors’ and merchants'shops dominating the floor, she thought of other professions to be learned. “I expect things to be easier, but knowing nothing about those things might make me a rejectâ€.

The anthropophobic girl could not stand an hour merging with different people as she felt like somebody might abduct her anytime. Who would blame her for feeling that way? Nobody knew what she had been through. She decided to start walking into the outskirts of town but her ears could easily detect sound waves of music which made her feet walked along where the waves came from.

 

“Is it possible to be a musician in Aincrad? Poor, me I even don’t know the whole game mechanics.†Near a shop, where she was destined to go, revealed a gracious minute of a lady fluently playing a flute outside her shop. People drew in attention, and dropped Cols in a cute red col box. “Amazing, that’s what I wanted to be, I guess?†Each note touched her bosom that Sword Art Online was not all about combats. Shizuka waited until the lady finished playing. After the performance, she got a full glance of the lovely lady possessing misty green eyes. The lady picked up the red col box and thanked everyone. Shizuka remained jaw-dropped until the lady took a look at her. She blushed when the musician smiled at her but suddenly shook her head down as if Shizuka melted and walked away. "How will I be like her?", she whispered to her mind.

Her mind led her nowhere out of the safe zone while having thoughts of how to get started. Facing down noticing her basic leather boots brushing along the hazy light-green grasses, caused her to lose attention around her. That was too risky for a fille like her who was still weak, but she continued walking on the grass plains like that.

 

 

A moment after, she bumped into something pointy. She had a bad feeling. Slowly she faced up, encountering a boar right on her own eyes. “A-aa-aah!!!†she faltered in shock. The boar’s image was reflected right through Shizuka’s blue anxious eyes. The furious boar was aiming towards her squeaking as if it boasted.

She stood up and hid her anxiety this time. Shizuka swiped her fringe away from her eyes, and drew her <<Rapier>> out. Taking her stance, she ran towards the boar as her sword skill activated making the blades glow a blue sapphire. With all her might, she had the sword thrust the <<wild boar>> upon meeting each other up on air.

 

She landed swiftly, and heard something burst. “Ha! This is the start of everything!!!†As she turned around, the pixels showered the field.

“Am I supposed to get drops from this?†. Walking towards from where the boar ended, Shizuka found an orb. “I need Cols right now, I want something good for dinner, let's seeâ€.

“15 Col is not enough for a mushroom stew.†Sighing, she continued walking nowhere. From afar, she could see two <<wild boars>>. She attempted to fight once more. The other one was quite far, so it might not be much hard for her. “Okay, let’s do this for a mushroom stew!â€

She didn't notice she gained a level and one skill point. Shizuka geared up and secretly commenced the battle with the poor <<wild boar>>. Her blade glowed an emerald green and performed a diagonal slash. She failed on timing her attack and so the <<wild boar>> was enraged.  â€œOh no! I was too confident.â€

The <<wild boar’s>> attention was caught by her failing attempt. It dashed towards the girl and aimed her torso. If only the <<wild boar>> could talk, it might tell her to be not so certain.

 

“O-ou-ouch I don’t want to die yet!†Shizuka felt the pain. The system replicated the sensations perfectly for real. She looked at her HP bar and saw she lose three health points. "Oh my!"

"Amazing!, I got a Cloak, suitable for a timid lassie"  It was a green cloak good enough for winter season. Feeling much awesome, she decided to rest and heal for a while under a tree while viewing dandelions sway.

After she had fully regained full health points, Shizuka searched for the other boar a while ago. “Yosh! Let me do this again.†It was already 2 in the afternoon and the <<wild boar>> moved around the field carelessly. Now it had to watch out for Shizuka.

 

With her <<sneak and hide>> skill, she knew it would not be very much effective, but she hid behind a tree and did a sneak attack. She jumped in the air but as she leapt up, the boar fled away. It was another epic fail.

Her sword shone upon pointing on the boastful <<wild boar>>, she took her stance and focused. She shouted “I will...DELETE you!!!â€. The <<wild boar>> whined on pain upon the contact of Shizuka’s mighty horizontal sword slash. “Phew…I think I’m hungryâ€.

She swiped her right middle and index finger on the air and looked for towns to stay in. "I shall find a place to stay for tonight, uhmm...maybe in Tolbana" She drew her sword in her leather sheath. It might take her an hour walk to finally arrive in the second largest town in first floor of Aincrad.

Shizuka arrived peacefully into the town of <<Tolbana>> but in haste for a restaurant. Her fear of people intensified her hunger. The town was a beautiful one, consisted of Inns, food outlets and several NPC houses.

 

 

Finally, on the nearest restaurant near a tavern, she found mushroom stew on the menu and settled down on a table for two. The setting was almost perfectly serene, if not for the other five players on the round table. She had noticed the orange cursor above their heads, which signified they were felons.

 

The waitress got her attention out of the orange players. “Can I get your orders, Miss?†The lady in carnation pink dress seemed so cheerful. “A mushroom stew and a raspberry juice, please.†she said meekly. “Orders up Miss!â€, ensured the lady in pink.

“How did I manage to do all this?†she said to herself. A tear dropped on the wooden table while she was facing down. Shizuka could not help thinking about her mother and father, including Pacchi her orange tabby. Obviously, the poor girl missed them all. That’s natural. She missed Pacchi sleeping on her lap, the lessons her mom taught her, and the games she and her dad used to play together.

 

“Here’s the mushroom stew and a raspberry juice, orders complete, Miss†the lady exclaimed. Shizuka wiped her tears and thanked the lady. “Is there anything wrong, Miss?†asked the worried waitress. Looking from her gloomy facial gesture, she just slightly shook her head sideways. The waitress left her, but still worried.

The meal was sumptuous, but still she felt empty.  It cost much lesser than what she thought. The aroma permeated the room, and the pink raspberry juice seemed so vibrant under the moody yellowish lights. “This looks great, I wish it tastes great too.†A creamy salty taste met her buds and she liked it very well. “But mom’s stew is much tastier than this, oh mom this system will never have the power to replicate your stews.†Every sip of the raspberry juice was a delight after her day’s adventure.

 

She stayed for a while in the restaurant, enabling her to rest a bit. It was already 5 in the afternoon and she was full and satisfied. She left the restaurant ten minutes after five. Taking a little stroll while finding for a cheap inn to stay at, would seem gracious.

“I feel like lying down for a bit†she exhaled. After some minutes of walking around the town, Shizuka noticed water fountains scattered in the town. She found a suitable inn exclusively for ladies and rented for a night. The inn was not that big and expensive, perfect for one day travelers. The rooms were wooden, but the best thing about the inn was the comfortable bed. In room A21 on the second floor she went in, stretched lying on the bed and looked at the ceiling with empty thoughts. Wanting to see the town at night, she slept for an hour and took a glimpse of <<Tolbana>> in the window at nighttime.

 

 

In her excitement, she almost tripped down the staircase, fortunately nobody saw nor laughed at her. “Oopps…!†she chuckled. “Wonderful! look at those lights. I liked how it sets the scene to be moody.† She took a sit near the water fountain. Little by little, she was on her progress to overcome her social phobia. “If only I’m with them†Shizuka whispered while her fingers glided the water.

For about half an hour, she took a walk within the vicinity of the town. “This is really a vast town, I will visit here more often.†When she was about to walk back, the cold temperature made her yawn. So she made it quick to get enough rest for tomorrow’s duty. The modest inn keeper greeted her a good night, then she greeted the woman too.

 

The night seem cold, she even shivered upon sliding the room door open. “I should visit Floor 2 tomorrow, and try to have my own profession.†On her blanket, facing again the ceiling made her noticed that she was already level 3. “Ahh…that’s just 3 compared to 33.†A few minutes past, Shizuka fell deeply asleep.

“Greshin! What did you just do! I told you never to go out!†A familiar voice of a woman came barging into her senses. “Little Rika, your mom would be so sad if you do that†Then there came another familiar sly voice of a man. “The world is evil, bias and full of misery!†The woman exclaimed again. There were no images of those people talking. It echoed, a lot of times then gradually faded.

 

Shizuka finally woke up after the sunlight hit her blue sapphire eyes. She stretched out her arms and thought of what just happened. “That must be a dream!†Looking on the time, it was already past 7 in the morning. “Oooh!!! I gotta go, I gotta go†Dashing on the window pane, feeling cold, she got her green velvety cloak to wear. She went downstairs and thanked the same inn keeper who was always smiling so sweet.
