SP - F1 Earning a living

Sousuke was wandering the first floor of the Aincrad tower just humming a song to himself. He didn't feel like doing much of anything and so decided to visit the various NPC stalls to find something to do. He passed various shops and stores carrying all sorts of items which he didn't really like the look of. Eventually he came upon a tailors stall and decided that he wished to pick up the trade making various bits of light armour to help out with the guild. And with that he set of to the quest board to take the earning a living quest

Sousuke accepted the quest and chose the tailor path, the guild had to many blacksmiths as it was and no one to focus purely on the protection of the members, it only seemed right that he take the profession that was missing from the guild and make a living and a name for himself like his brother before him. He didn't want to follow in his brothers footsteps since if he survived long enough to become stronger than him his name would be forgotten and he wanted his brothers legacy to live on through the rest of the guild and the players of SAO forever. His first objective was to farm the boars outside the city for a tailors creation kit and therefore headed to the west gate to start his mission. ''Its not a problem'' he said to no one in particular.

Sousuke instantly headed straight for the first boar he saw and engaged it in a battle without hesitation. Unlike his brother he wasn't as timid when it came to fighting. He liked to get right down to the nitty-gritty and get it over with he drew his brothers old sword which was in pristine condition and attacked.

Sousuke charged in recklessly and got bowled over by the boar in quite a comical fashion since he charged right in front of its path. He rolled to absorb the majority of the impact but still took some damage, despite his recovery it still didn't change the fact that he was sent flying through the air with the grace of a chicken trying to fly.

Sousuke dragged himself off the floor and shook himself off and decided to take a more practical approach to the situation I held his sword down and to the right to allow the biggest swing arc when he launched his attack he stepped in ready to launch his next attack.

Sousuke timed his next attack and the boar rushed him again. He allowed the boar to make contact with him as he held his sword in front of him like a shield and twisted the blade using the boars momentum to slice through it. He was surprised it worked as well as it did since a tactic like that would have usually ended in him taking more damage than a little scratch. He made a mental note to think about his next move carefully before executing it.

Sousuke attemped to engage the boar in combat once again but the boar charged straight for him causing him to have to roll to the side to avoid being hit. He regained his footing and turned to face the boar anticipating a counter attack that never came. The boar just slowed down and turned to face him ready for the next move that either of them would make. This was starting to look more like turn based combat the more the fight went on.

The boar charged towards Sousuke and tripped dragging its face along the ground. Sousuke just stood there in utter bewilderment. "They can do that in this game?" He said aloud. He then went to contemplate how such physics existed within the game and what sort of algorithms were used to decide whether or not the boar tripped on its face or not.

Sousuke still in a daze was bowled over by the boar sliding towards him. It wasn't a very graceful dive and he took some damage from the collision, but managed to once again for the second time this fight to avoid most of the damage from the impact. His instincts kicking in before he hit the ground which ended in him doing a combat roll to absorb the impact. Regaining his compose he stood up rubbing his shoulder where he had first hit the floor and grasped his sword ready for the next stage of combat.

Sousuke rolled over and launched himself at the boar and managed to scratch its side finally finishing it off. It exploded in a shower of pixels to which he stood in awe at the beauty for a few moments. Had a girl been standing there he would of thought he was in some sort of anime or something. Shaking the feeling off he inspected the dropped item

Sousuke picked the item up and looked at it for a moment before pocketing it and turning to head back towards town

Back in town Sousuke noticed the quest had been updated his new objective was to learn how to craft. Confused he decided to ask around town on what that specifically meant . Eventually he came across a man who was also doing the same quest. He explained to Sousuke that it was as simple as going to an npc tutor of the proffesion he was aiming to learn and so Sousuke began to search for a tailing tutor eventually he came across one and asked about being a tailor. Unfortunately the tailor required some materials to teach Sousuke how to use his tailors kit and so he went back into the wilds to farm some materials.

Once back in the wilds sousuke began searching for more mobs to battle against and what he found was just another boring boar.

"Well it drop materials atleast so ill give it a go" he thought and drew his blade

Sousuke circled the boar repeatidly looking for an opening to attack. However he circled the boar so much they both became dizzy. The game took into account the new status effect that had been inflicted causing his vision to go double and the boar to stagger around like a drunk.

Sousuke's vision was messed up for the time being he was seeing double. He could make out the boar staggering around trying to get its bearing. Using his intellect Sousuke could tell that when seeing double aim for the middle of the two images. Picturing his movement and weapon trajectory in his mind he rushed forward and sliced through the boar dealing a nice bit of damage as his vision returned back to normal.

Sousuke turned on his heels as he finished his attack and rushed back to finish the boar leaning to the side to avoid the brunt of the boars retaliation, sliding beneath it he sliced the boar in half as it exploded in a shower of pixels. Once again he stood watching the light show completely in awe he wasn't going to get used to this no matter how many times he saw it. It looked like a bunch of fireworks had been set off.

Sousuke watched as his experience counter ticked up indicating he had increased his level and his health increased. He sheathed his sword and turned to see if the boar had dropped anything.

He stared at the place the boar was a few moments again and was surprised to see an item box form on the floor. He stepped forward and opened the interface to see the objects inside. He grinned a little to himself when he saw the name of the item in front of him. The name listed was Tailor materials (Quest) meaning he would have to take these back into town to speak the npc again to finish the next part of his quest. He set off back to west gate preparing for what he needed to do next.

Sousuke headed back into town and headed back to the npc in the market he had come across earlier and entered the store he went to the counter and rung the bell that was included to call for attention. It was a crude method to let the owner of the store you were there but he supposed it was just for effect since npcs in this game tended to wander and it allowed the player to call them back to the starting point of their path they were programmed to walk. Sousuke found it amusing that the npcs wandered off randomly since they seemed to act like rather absent minded members of society. The npc returned and greeted him and initiated conversation.

''I see you have returned do you have that which I seek'' the npc said to him. Sousuke did not reply instead he entered his menus and selected the items from his inventory and materialised them onto the counter in front of him. The items consisted of various leathers and cloths with which to work on and craft into different forms of clothing. The npc explained that Sousuke should now enter the workshop and make a series of items until the npc was satisfied with his work and so he entered the back of the store, sat down at the crafting station and placed a piece of cloth on it ready to get to work.

Sousuke began to get to work with a needle and thread. He had selected a piece of leather for this task and was aiming to make a set of protective vambraces with no particular enhancements. He didn't think it would be too difficult and began to sow the leather together.

Sousuke was having a little difficulty getting anywhere and ended up sowing his hands together. ''Erm ... how did this happen?'' he said to no one in particular and went to see if he could find npc to get his hands separated again

After a rather irritating conversation with an npc that was not really programmed to deal with those sorts of situations Sousuke managed to cut him to cut the thread that had been holding his hands together. He selected a piece of black cloth this time and decided to try his hands at making a coat again not aiming for any enhancements.

This time he really surprised himself when he applied himself he could really create a work of art he created a perfect trench coat with 3 enhancements

Enhancements: 3 Random enhancements for the purpose of the quest

Description: A perfectly crafted trench coat made by Sousuke during the quest earning a living it has no monetary or combat value however

Sousuke impressed with his work began to press and clean up the coat ready for presentation to the npc whom will be evaluating his work. He took pride in the coat and dyed it a red colour and added a gold trim around the edges he then sowed his name into the material and hung it up for display. He then set about cleaning up his mess and replacing the tools he had used from the storage, retrieving his own tailors kit in the process. In the end the display he put on seemed a little over the top but it was his first successful craft and he wanted to really show off its quality. He entered the main area of the store and selected the evaluation option from the stores menu and awaited the approval of his new 'Master'

The npc entered the room and showed no reaction to the piece of art whatsoever but then again what he expect from an npc it wasn't programmed to show emotion after all. He began a full scale evaluation of the coat checking the material quality and the stitches. He then moved on to inspect the trim of the coat which had a perfect texture and stitching which was barely noticeable. It altogether looked like a master craftsman had created it himself.

 

''Congratulations you have passed the test you may now take on your profession'' said the npc as the coat disappeared into a cluster of pixelated shapes. 

 

As he left a treasure chest materialised infront of Sousuke and he opened it to find ...
