[SP-F2] Let there be Light (Quest) [Complete]

Recommended Posts

Rebekah had heard about the new quest on the second floor that had just appeared the last few weeks. She had been meaning to take it for a while, but she knew this was something that had been on her bucket list for quite a while. Typically, a quest this size did not take much planning, but it would be the first time that she was going to fight two monsters, probably as strong as she was, defensively that was. She had heard rumors of the giants bats being strong and weak from players alike, but she approached the village over on the second floor, where they had lost a child.

Rebekah had reached the village near the cave where the NPC mother had lost her child. She knew that exploring a cave was dangerous, and she had brought every pre-caution necessary to make this trip possible. She quickly chatted with the NPC, before accepting the quest on the pop up panel that appeared in front of her. She walked over to the entrance of the cave, and saw that there were a few pegs that were hammered into the ground already. That's perfect, she brought along a lot of string, and this would ensure her that she would be able to find her way out, by leaving the original trail of how she got into this cave in the first place. She quickly tied a strong knot around the peg, so that it will not break.

Rebekah took her first few steps into the cave, while holding a spool of thread behind her, it was her only way out, to make sure she can exit the cave. She decided to linger around to help her eyes adjust to the darkness. Even though her eyesight would be quite bad in the dark, it was better if she could readjust them a tiny bit before continuing into this cave. It would prove more beneficial than learning to fight with a lantern. That was what she wanted to avoid that, as that would be detrimental to her fighting. After a few minutes, she continued down into this cave.

Rebekah knew that this cave would be dangerous, and had come prepared scenario possible that would guarantee her safety. If she had gone missing after this exploration, it would be as if nobody would have noticed on these dangerous solo missions, but she knew that she needed the extra experience of training alone. She continued down the pathway, luckily she had pre-scouted the cave with some previous mapping data from other people and knew that there were not too many forks where she had to make a decision which way to go. The pathway was wide enough, but at the same time narrow enough for only a few people to squeeze through side by side easily, she knew that there was no heading back until she would finish the mission.

Rebekah continued searching in the cave, and finally started hearing some sounds, perhaps she was close to where she needed to go, or she should remain silent. She did not know which would be the best option, but knew that she was going to be cautious. As far as she knows it could be another player hiding out in this cave, the child she wanted to rescue, or it was a monster inside this cave. However, it was hard for her to tell who it was due to the fact that she barely heard it.

Regardless, she had found two bats that were keeping a little boy hostage, or in other words not letting him leave. As the NPC boy could not fight, there was no way it could escape, thus it was up to her to face the two monsters alone. She wondered the last time she had fought two big creatures like today, but could not remember the last time when. She quickly looked for another alternative, as she could not see effectively in the dark, thus lowering her accuracy. She wished that she could avoid fighting, but it would be impossible.

The two giants bats were blocking the path to the little child that was lost in this cave. Without them gone, there were absolutely no way that she could leave with the little boy to finish this important quest. She ran towards the two bats, but she had not decided on which would be her target, thus she swung and completely miss at either of them. Rebekah's indecisiveness in battle is often a problem for her, as she had no idea what she would be doing lately.

The Bats

The animals flew directly at the girl who had attempted to kill them the turn before. They attempted to create a swarm around her, but she was too smart for that, and was able to use her rapier to block the first attack, but she was unable to prevent the second bat from landing a scratch from her backside as she could not fight the two of them at the same time, or so she thought. It was an interesting predicament that she had found herself in.

Rebekah was not going to give up that easily, but the two bats continued to fly around in a big swarm. There was no way that she could be able to hit any of it, but she knew that there must be a way. Luckily the height of the cave was not that high, so she had a decent possibility of hitting them, as there were not a lot of room for the giant bats to fly around in, but they still moved quite fast. Her accuracy today has been rather lacking as of late, but there was not a whole lot else she could do except for continue trying.

The Bats

The bats swarmed at the young girl once again at the same time, however she was able to duck and dive out of the way, she did not want to get hit by these annoying bats, as they had a huge advantage over her, being able to fly. They tried to follow her, but the sharp icy stalactite made it impossible for it to navigate into the little area that she had just ran into. There was nothing else it could do, other than chase her and take unnecessary damage, thus it stop chasing for now.

After missing her attack twice, she was determined to land her first attack of the battle. She was missing her rhythm, and began to think back at all the other difficult battles that she had faced in the past. She knew that she was a lot stronger and she was not going to give up this easily after two missed attacks. Taking all that into her mind, she was determine to land an attack, as she kept thinking in her head, little steps. She was not in a panic to land a crit, so she took the time to make sure to land an attack as opposed to the chances of missing one. Rebekah was going to think about dodging these attacks later, rather than try to do everything at once.

The Bats

Rebekah had finally landed her first attack on the first of two giant bats. However, in order to do that, she had to get a lot closer than she would have liked, and that resulted in giving the giant bat, a free attack on her from up close. The wings managed to hit her as she was trying to dodge both bats at once. Even though that might become a problem, it was a trade that she was willing to do, as she had managed to damage the bat for more health points than she had lost in that last encounter. She wished that this was enough to get her rhythm back as she had lost it for most of this battle.

Rebekah had started to feel a lot more comfortable fighting in the dark, even with the accuracy debuff that lowered her accuracy. Suddenly her attacks were becoming way more accurate than it had before, as she began landing them on to the first giant bat. She decided to focus on one of its weaker spots, realizing that it could be where she could land a critical shot, thus dealing more damage than she had been doing now. She knew that it was worth a shot, and decided to attack with the perfect movement of her arms. Luckily for her, it had paid off big time, as she watched its HP drop below 50% into the yellow.

The Bats

The Bats flutter around after they had received damage, and as the first bat's hp drop into the yellow, its attack pattern began to shift slightly. It was no longer attempting to hit the girl with its wings, but instead began to dive and hit her straight on. Unfortunately for Rebekah, she did not account for this slight variation as she was completely hit by both bats as a result.

After landing 2 straight attacks in a row, she decided to get a bit more risky, and tried to use her first strategy again, which was to attack both of the bats at once. However, she knew the chances of success was quite low, nearly impossible, but she decided to give it a shot anyways. She knew that taking into consideration the risk, it was better for her if she had a shot. She looked up at two bats, and they were right beside one another. This was the best opportunity that she was ever going to get, so she jumped up, and attacked with her rapier. Unfortunately she was too slow, and missed both of the bats yet again.

The Bats

After the bats had dodged the girl's weak attack, they realize that she had escaped the relative safety of the part of the cave with a super low ceiling. This made her vulnerable to attack and they swopped in to attack with its wings. However, she was easily able to dodge both attacks by returning to her previous location, as the bats decided not to chase in to that shorter area of the cave, especially with that super low ceiling in this room.

The moment she got back into that spot, she jumped back out to launch an attack. Typically she would wait a few seconds thinking about her next move, but decided to use the element of surprise to her advantage. Luckily the change in attack pattern had worked, as she managed to hit the first giant bat with a huge critical attack as it was not expecting anything to happen at all.

The Bats

The bats were totally not expecting her attack, and as a result was shocked to find out that what they thought was impossible had actually happened. They froze for half a second, but that was enough for Rebekah to get far enough away to be able to dodge both of their attacks. However, the bats did not attack, as they lost sight of her for that second. The two bats were starting to tire out, but Rebekah has felt like she had just begun the battle, after taking a while to find her momentum.

It was finally her turn again, and this time she decided to try something new yet again. Rebekah knew that this would be good practice trying different types of attack with her rapier, instead of using what she would normally do. She decided to focus on attacking the body of the giant bat, instead of the wings, as she felt that it would be good practice trying to land an accurate attack, as the bats were always flying around, thus making it harder than it should be. She took a deep breath before she attacked with her rapier. She missed...

The Bats

The bats had decided to try out a brand new strategy, as this time, as Rebekah lunged to attack the first bat, the second bat would charge in to attack her, at her most vulnerable position. This attack had worked, as she was knocked back just as she had missed the attack, while landing a big critical attack on the girl. Unfortunately, the girl still had most of her HP, while the pair of bats have almost lost half of theirs combined. This was a tough battle, even if it was a two versus one situation.
