Escaping the city and running straight for the first boar he laid eyes on, Graven was eager to begin building his legacy. It was fortunate that the designers kept all the low level boars near the city otherwise Graven could have found himself easily in trouble. The boar turned and faced him.

The boar charges at Graven aiming its tusks right at his gut. In short work Graven sidesteps its first charge. In his haste, he had forgot to equip his scimitar. He quickly tries to open the menu, select his weapon, and change from empty to his One-Handed Scimitar. Meanwhile the boar was pawing the ground before his next charge. Annnnd.... EQUIPPED!!!

Boar HP: 1/3

He sidesteps the boar another time and tries to stab it in return as it passes. Using a scimitar, Graven quickly realizes that he now wields a SLASHING type weapon. Stabbing would be minorly effective at best. Now determined tired of the game "bull" fighting he is currently engaged in, Graven sinks lower into a ready, aggressive stance. As the boar runs at him, he steps his left leg across him to the right, spins his right leg next to the boar as it passes and drags the blade behind him along the boar's hide. "Sloppy, but it'll do." Graven thinks.

Angered by the attack, the boar quickly turns on Graven and immediately recharges. Thrown off by his footwork moments ago and distracted by his thoughts, Graven is caught unaware and hit in the back. The boar's tusks leave two red holes in his back.

Graven swing around and slices the boar three time while it's so close to him leaving three red lines in an underlined X in the boar's tough skin. He watches point blank as its health bar drains away from red. Once the bar is empty, it disappears followed by the boar exploding into hundreds of blue polygons. Graven is not much of a celebrator though and immediately moves to the next boar.

Upon elimination of Graven's first kill, he sees a UI loot window appear on the field of his recent endeavor. It is a two fold reward: both rewarding in items and in sense of accomplishment and achievement. The satisfaction is unparalleled in Sword Art Online for there is no equivalent to being up close and personal with your challenge and with your accomplishment.

Graven immediately rushes off to fight another boar. "I must level up as quickly as possible to get to the front lines!" His devotion almost seems admirable until you realize that he has no more connection with this game then any of his previous, yet. He may have less considering he's only been in game for maybe an hour now.

He finds the boar with the longest tusks, eager to prove himself. He once again slips into a ready fighting stance. It is apparent from his stance that curved blades are a new addition to his arsenal.

Graven readies himself to dodge and slash as the boar charges by. The boar lowers its head slightly, points its tusks, and charges. Graven, expecting the same results of his wonderful previous dodge, shows no true concern. Ten yards away the boar continues to speed up. Five yards away Graven begins his maneuver too soon. The boar sees him try to spin away and readjusts its trajectory and turns its head towards Graven. The tip of this boar's long left tusk gouges Graven right in the side.

Despite the lack of pain in Sword Art, Graven still winches at his now clear mistake as he watches his health slowly plummet from full to yellow. Graven realized that if was not careful, he would have his first death in this game.

His next actions were valiant. With determination not have his first death on his second monster, Graven ran after the boar in a circular direction to dodge its charge. The boar could not turn fast enough to charge at him. Graven slashed the boar across its flank.

The boar whelps in anger and rage. It starts swing its head wildly. Left, right, back - Graven dodges each swing intent on surviving. Finally, the boar's anger subsides. Graven readies himself for his own retaliation.

Graven retaliates by slashing at the boar only to have it pounce backwards, a definite addition by Sword Art Online to what a real boar can do. This boar seems almost as intent on surviving as Graven. Graven chases after the boar slashing wildly much like the boar had just done. He hit mostly tusks and did no real damage.

After Graven's wild slashing, the boar quickly pierced his shin. Now on even level, Graven and the boar stare each other down as the boar sinks into a charging stance. One last chance, do or die: that is what Graven now faces.

As the boar makes the final charge Graven stands his ground. Patience this time will be his ally. Ten yards, the boar lowers its head. Five yards, Graven readies his scimitar. As the boar draws close, Graven slashes the boar across its entire head, catching the boar across one eye. With that, the boar's health plummets to zero and the boar disintegrates into blue polygons.

Another UI loot window appears in front of Graven detailing the rewards of his most recent exploit. This time however, Graven does not feel like he deserves a reward. His performance was shoddy at best and almost netted him his first death in SAO as a loot reward.

While he did not receive any items for this venture, he did receive something just as valuable detailed in the next UI window that appeared. "Level up!" Were the words he read next.

Graven had graduated from level one boars and had moved on to the ever more exciting level two boars. Taking his scimitar in hand, he carefully avoids the level one boars and seeks out his next target. This time however, a boar finds Graven. It charges at him from the rear. Unbeknownst to Graven, this happens to be one of the boars he was looking for. He hears its charge moments before impact, spins on his heels, and slashes wildly at the boar. He misses horribly.
