SP-F1 Secret medicine of the forest

Recommended Posts

Location: Floor 1:Horunka village

" Is that all?" The NPC merchant asked, handing the crystals to Lyra, a level four player that was currently hunting for exps around horunka village.

"Yes!" she answered in an enthusiastic tone, reaching for her 12 health crystals and 3 teleportation crystals.

She was just at the door exiting the shop when she heard shouting and cursing, only to find out that a rabble of players had gathered out of the shop.

"You take that quest, and bring that blade back! You understand?" A buff man, screamed and held a young player violently.

"Y-y-yes" the young man answered in fear as the group mocked him.

"Ha! Such an easy quest to fail in"

"Such a loser!" They openly abased the player.

"Yeah, ruff, let's just abandon him here and let him die"

"Please don't!!" The young man pleaded.

"Wait!" Lyra spoke up in irritation. "Just, who do you guys think you are?"

"Oi miss! Stop sticking your nose in other's business." The man named ruff said in a terrifying voice that could have shaken a whole mountain.

"Come on boss, we can't waste our time."

Ruff made one glance at Lyra and left.

"What was that?" Lyra said in disgust. "Are you alright?" she asked the player, offering her hand to help him up.

"Yeah!" the guy said, taking her hand.

"You want to explain?" Lyra asked, eyebrows up with her arms folded.

The man pursed his lips before he answered. "I'm really sorry about what happened"

"Ok" Lyra interrupted "So what's the deal?"

The guy laughed. "Well, you're different"

"Weird, freaky, whatever" she said, urging him to get to the main point.

"Fine! Those guys are the 'rumbletops'"

"The what?!"

"The rumbletops, could you let me finish please?"

"ok"

"To get inside that guild of some sort, a player must finish the 'secret medicine of the forest' quest"

"of some sort?"

"Yes, well we're not really a guild yet, it's still a party" The player looked out at a distance with hatred in his eyes, whispering. "More like a cabal group to overthrow those reigning beaters"

"You're in a party, can't they help you with the quest?"

"That's not how they want it to work. By the way, what's your name?"

"Lyra, and yours?"

"Aether"

"Ok Aether" Lyra said, holding up a hand. "I'll get that blade of yours, just promise me you'll never let yourself get bullied by those 'rumbletops"

"Pfft" he slapped Lyra's hand away.

"well... that's rude"

"If you get me that blade, it will only make me look weak"

Lyra thought for a while. "You're right...well ok. I'm just going to take the quest and let's get the blade together"

They weren't that many, so Lyra knew she only needed a few slashes to finish them.

The only problem was her health, it was already yellow, and it was obvious what the next color would be.

Red the color of blood

She remembered the first time she encountered the red health bar. A certain feeling, that Lyra couldn't explain, enveloped her at that time. A certain sort of adrenaline flowed through her veins. Lyra couldn't even remember how she won the battle against that monster, but she was certain that whatever happened wasn't good.

Now, she knew she needed to get a crystal before the spiders kill her, but that wasn't wise. She'll just give them, more chance to attack.

She first used 'horizontal', that hit all three of them. But it didn't made the final cut.

She again used her combo.

'slant' 'slant' 'slant' 'vertical'

It killed one, but not all.

'slant' 'slant--' The monster jumped, and Lyra quickly used 'vertical'.

The monster's last hit made it to her. Fortunately, her health was still yellow.

Lyra was now in rage, she could not let herself fall in the red zone.

She wanted to use 'Sonic Leap' on the last monster, but he made an unexpected move. And Lyra, only answering his call, changed foot steps, and made an unexpected skill. She leaped at the enemy and made an upward strike.

The attack was too weak, that she still needed her combo.

'slant' 'slant' 'slant' 'vertical'

Polygonal shards exploded.

Lyra quickly opened her HUD, it was dumb of Lyra to not equip the crystals earlier. But now she had encountered such a dire situation, she learned her lesson and equipped it, more ready for battle.\

When Lyra's health was back to green. She immediately took a look at the sword skill she just did.

It was quite weak, and not much of a help in the battle that happened.

"Rage Spike?!" she said in frustration.

She was waiting for this skill to appear and was disappointed to know that it shared a hit strike with her other skills.

"Well... Vertical Arc, you're my only hope"

She said continuing her journey.

While Lyra was searching her HUD for more stuff to equip.

She stumbled upon something, she should know was there.

"Passive skill: Tracking" She read. "Tracking?! This raises an effectiveness while hunting monsters."

Lyra wasn't an expert when it comes to game terms, but she was sure that passive skills were ones that didn't need to be activated.

"So?" Lyra searched for arrows all around. "Shouldn't I be seeing a guide by now?"

Lyra shrugged when she didn't saw one.

"This did say, 'tracking'. Maybe I should see the monster first."

She shrugged once more, and continued to walk. Noticing for the first time, the difference in the forest.

The forest was becoming creepier.

The trees was thicker and it was darker than the entrance to the forest.

Lyra knew she was now in the deep, scary part of her adventure. She only needed to find the medicine and the plant guarding it. Then she'll be happily on her way back to town.

Well, that would be the case if, a couple of mobs didn't attacked her.

They took the first blow, being on a much more higher level than the other monsters.

"You're much too aggressive than your friends out in the light huh?" Lyra said, knowing that she had her crystals well equipped.

Zephyr lighted and Lyra mad her counterattack.

Lyra was still trying to learn how to change skills quickly.

Her timing was horrible added by hilarious body movement.

It wasn't a surprise that the monsters mistake her for a punching bag.

"Stop!" she said, alarmed when she saw that her health had dropped into the yellow zone.

Instantly, Zephyr lighted a sword skill.

The 'horizontal, made the monsters back away. No one died, for they were not as weak as the mob before.

But Lyra was determined to make them pay for making her yellow, just after she had healed.

"Ahhhh!" She shouted, just moving her body, not even thinking or caring about any tactics or scheme.

No one was left at the spot after the outrage was done.

Even Lyra had gone her way to finish the quest as soon as possible. She wasn't comfortable seeing another color in her health bar but green. And monsters wouldn't conform to that.

"A mob of plants" Lyra said, repeating the dwarfs instruction.

A few times, Lyra hid in a tree to escape monsters, she made sure they weren't what she was looking for.

She was not here to hunt, but to do a quest, so there was no reason to confront them.

While Lyra walked deeper into the forest, she remembered the other sword skill she wish to learn.

The 'Vertical Arc'.

Now that she knew that she wasn't so good with making a slash pattern, she wish to just strike the enemy down, and learn the 'vertical arc' without planning about it too much.

Lyra continued her walk through the forest.

It wasn't long when Lyra smelled a sweet smell that could kill even the most popular super model.

"uck!" Lyra said, being a huge non-fan of strong smelling perfumes.

She didn't know if she was already using her passive skill, but she found the medicine too easy to find after what happened.

Lyra was still keeping her distance from the quest item. Observing it carefully.

The medicine was on top of the huge smelly blooming flower that the quest description said, it was only a vial that stood like a glittering gem resting upon its colorful jewel box.

The plant guards were standing before it.

All of them looked like an insect eating plant, or maybe if a player dies in there hands. They may be called player- eating plants.

It wasn't a good thought but at least a reminder to be more careful.

Lyra charged at the plant guards. Using the new techniques she recently discovered.

For the first time, Lyra had fun fighting the monsters. She didn't try to look at her health bar, but instead focused on her sword skills. Her timing was not yet perfect, yet it was more bearable than her recent fight. She needed polishing for what she was doing, but she ignored this fact and proceeded to feel the moment.

It was pure emotions that led her to attack and strike. The feelings of happiness and the memories of childhood, the joy of being with friends, all of this things filled her.

Lyra continued to attack.

Unforuntaley, she was too overjoyed and din't see an incoming attack. It hit her arm, and the red polygonal shards signed the hit mark.

Now Lyra knew that these monsters were much stronger than her last enemies and much much stronger than the one in the shallow part of the forest.

A tinge of shock hit Lyra, she was not bleeding but the fake wound looked horrible.

She couldn't control herself.

She dashed to the monster that did it to her and made multiple sword skills.

The monster exploded into shards, angering its companions.

The mob was already moving to crowd her, but they were all too slow. Lyra couldn't help but wonder if they were once zombies.

Lyra attacked one of them by 'sonic leap' and a multiple of other swords skills.

This time the mob didn't get any more aggressive.

maybe that 's their most angered state

Lyra thought, as they slowly chased her to the next mob.

She didn't thought much when killing the third one. She was too fast for these creatures, even a level 1 player would be able to finish them.

It was a surprising turn of events, when the plants suddenly used a special skill.

Each guard was holding a stick as a weapon, and up until now, Lyra thought it was useless.

The guards seeing their numbers, tapped the trees with the sticks.

It was a weird ritual, and Lyra hadn't had any time to know how many beats they did.

The next thing she knew, vines were already erupting from the ground.

Once you get caught, the vines will entangle your legs. But it was easy to get out off with one quick slash.

Though Lyra's speed cannot be used to its fullest now. She could not wast time by slashing vines off, while insect eaters kill her.

Lyra carefully confronted her enemies. Not wanting to get entangled in their trap.

She used 'sonic leap' again, which was her most reliable skill at the moment.

The speed once again surprised the mob, it tried to use its weapon against her, which was already glowing yellow.

But Lyra was able to dodge and slash at the enemies multiple times.

When the monster had already exploded into polygonal shards, Lyra saw what happened to the tree that was hit by the weapon.

She gasped "It turned into stone!"

Lyra then turned to the others.

What she saw was also a peculiar sight, everyone was glowing red now. But even with this kind of threat she was still not going to be convinced that she would turn into whatever that tree turned into.

The last mob was standing across her.

It might just be her imagination, but it seemed like he smirked.

"Oh no!" Lyra said, shaking her head "You're not going to taunt me, to do anything stupid.

Lyra charged at the monster, but this one was a little different than the others. Probably because it was exposed to the special skill more than his pals.

His skin was more durable, that her weak skills couldn't do any more than scratching it.

"Ahhhhh!!" Lyra said, getting impatient.

She slashed and slashed, but nothing happened. When she stopped to make a plan.

The monster tapped the stick to the ground and she was blasted off to the trees.

Lyra came back by dashing and making a 'sonic leap' but it wasn't enough.

Lyra closed her eyes. Felt the rage that could only come from a normal person, that never wanted to leave in the a game.

She was angry, yes she was angry.

She took a peek at her health bar and saw something red.

And it's this monsters fault!!!

She thought, just randomly slashing. She had made the attack a couple of times when she realized, she was doing something different. She was now making a 'V' to slash at her opponent. It was simple and was comfortable to use, just like slant.

Lyra continued it, till the monster turned into the familiar sign of death.
