[PP-F1] Earning a Living <<Alchemist>>(complete)

Recommended Posts

It had been several long and painful months in Aincrad. Anima had spent most of her time wandering the main cities of floor 1, and listening to reports of the front liners blazing trails higher and higher. However it seemed that recently they had become stuck, not 10 floors above her. She had hated this, and sighed every time someone mentioned that they were trying again to push through. Clearly these people didn't know the first thing about playing a game like this. She would need to get there and show them then. Before she could however she would need to get herself a class figured out so that she could lend proper assistance. Of course she was aware that the game itself did not support a class system in building your character, it was more of a sandbox than anything. Of course that did not mean she couldn't make a class in her mind and build her skills around it.

Anima's first thought had been DPS. Of course many, many, many players around here shared a build like that. In most cases they shared the same build. She hated them, walking around whipping out their swords to see who's was bigger like they were something special. She was not interested in tanking, to her the idea of walking around waiting to be hit was brain dead to say the least. From her understanding there was no skill set that allowed her to work the RDPS angle, which meant the only major class she could build would be support. Unfortunately she remembered that the system did not have any aspect of magic, and none of the skills could be utilized to help other players, so a support build was a challenge. If not for the Alchemy skill it would have been next to impossible to be useful if you weren't a mouth breather swinging a weapon.

So with that in mind she settled herself on needing the alchemy skill to further advance her own needs. One who made potions would be quite valuable in a game where death was on the line. The young girl took a moment now thinking long and hard about what she would need to get underway. In other MMO's she had played, Alchemy used herbs found all over the game to create pots, that could be used to a variety of effects. It stood to reason that this game was the same. Luckily this meant she would not need to go around smashing woodland creatures with a hammer like a savage, and instead could take her time to carefully perfect her skill properly.

Given that Anima had spent such a great deal of time around the starting city, she had managed to learn the locations of all the quest starters for earning a living. The starter for Alchemy, or potion making was not far from where she was, a convenient coincidence for sure. Ten minutes later and she had arrived at the dinky little shop and instigated the quest from the NPC there.

Taking a moment to think, Anima made a mental checklist of things she needed to complete this task, and start working on her craft. The first thing she would need is the actual skill, which was acquired with knowledge of the various herbs in Aincrad. She knew from other MMO's that in most cases consuming Herbs and plants in enough quantities often gave you information on the plant, such as what it's uses are and recipes that it can be used with, as well as the actual Alchemy skill. Naturally here in town there would be few if any growing herbs, and the ones she would find here would be common and nearly useless. Instead she needed to venture outside beyond the walls and try out there. The idea itself was not frightening to her, despite her low level, in fact it made her excited to see what was actually beyond the gate, having never left yet.

Anima gave a loud yawn, stretching out over dramatically as she stood up, before pulling open her map. She knew where the nearest gate was, instead she was putting a way point on the map next to a patch of trees. It was large enough to have something growing in it, but close enough for her to bail if needed. Naturally this made it perfect. Once it was marked she closed her map, and saw that a blue marker now appeared on her HUD.Perfect! She thought as she began making her way towards the nearest gate, and by extension the marker she had placed.

Anima exited the town Via the southern gate. She stopped once she crossed the threshold of the city safe limits, and looked around with a slight sense of aw. The outside world was huge, bigger than she had expected anyways. She couldn't see the end of the map from where she was and suddenly she wished she had been out here sooner. However she quickly got over it at the thought of better now than never. Off in the distance she could see her marker and a patch of tree's growing. It looked like a small forest of its own, and if not it was certainly larger than she expected. Given her sudden sense of urgency she began jogging down towards the trees, making sure to keep her eyes open for random Mobs. She had heard one too many stories about players being ambushed and killed in the first month.

It took her longer than expected to get to the trees, but soon Anima was standing on the outside of the small forest. She thought to herself that this would be easy as she looked back and forth from one side of the forest to another. There were so many plants here that all she had to do was start eating things and soon she would be an expert level alchemist. With a smile she crouched down at the base of a tree and began crawling around it looking for anything that looked different from the grass.

She searched around the tree, and its neighbors for several moments before rolling onto her rear with a look of disappointment. This would obviously be more difficult than she thought.

She was already disappointed in her choice, however she was determined to succeed no matter the cost. She just needed to change her approach. Obviously crawling around on the ground was not going to help. She needed to cover more ground faster. Odd's were that most plants would identify themselves when a player was in range. Anima huffed as she pushed up onto her feet and began walking. She was not going deep into the forest yet, she was still too low of a skill level to deal with anything that might be in there. Instead she continued to keep searching along the outer edges. All the while she continued to keep her eyes peeled for Mobs, and now players as well. Last thing she wanted was to meet a PKer or a bandit who would take the few things she had left.

off in the distance along the far right edge of the tree's she spotted something that looked out of place. It was green, but it also looked to be rendered differently from the grass. She smiled now as she bolted for the plant.

8328 Loot Roll 8. Nothing found

As she neared the plant in question she frowned again. It had not been some unique herb she could harvest, but was instead a simple patch of grass, that was off colored. She even tried to harvest it, in case it was something special, sighing only when it proved to still be only grass.

So far her attempt to find these herbs was unsuccessful. That was no reason to give up hope however as she was determined to make this work. Anima narrowed her eyes as she kicked at the grass that had so recently caught her attention. She needed to get a basic leg up in this skill in order to avoid these kinds of mistakes. Lord knows she can't afford to spend hours digging up grass. She shook her head and smiled now, taking a moment to find the humor in her own situation. In the real world she had been terrible with plants, even managing to kill a cactus that she tried to keep alive. Perhaps the game just new and was teasing her.

8576 Loot Roll 2. Nothing found

She sighed a little as she began to search again. She had crouched down now balancing gently on her toes while she looked for anything that resembled anything unique. Still nothing strange caught her eye. In fact it was grass, just grass, grass as far as the eye could see. This would prove to be disappointing, or at least it would have if she had had any other plans. She wondered how others did this, how they managed to find items like this and where. As far as she knew these things were supposed to be everywhere in Aincrad, except apparently where she was looking.

Several more minutes drifted by with Anima perched on her toes. her eyes scanned the ground around her desperately looking for something new. A seed, a sprout, anything that was unique. Still nothing seemed to fall into view. She sighed again as she stood up taking another quick look around. Perhaps the spot was the problem, maybe there was simply no active resource nodes in the area. She would need to spread out her search and look elsewhere. In the back of her mind she knew this would be worth the trouble, but at the same time she was beginning to hate the whole searching herself idea. She made a mental note to buy plants from other players in the future.

She began walking along the outskirts of the mini forest again, casting her gaze from left to right hoping for a quick glimpse of something that stood out, or even the flashing of a plants name as she neared it. It was then she realized that she had no idea what the herbs in the area were actually called. She had done no prior research into this and had no way of knowing for sure. She sighed again as she came to a stop by a thick tree, not removing her gaze from the ground lest she miss something.

8579 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

Still nothing stood out, but to be fair this was a new spot all together, she would need to look harder.

This time she wasn't going to isolate herself to one small area, instead she was going to keep walking and look over a larger section of trees. Her thought was that opening herself up a bit might assist her in her search. She was also now looking not so much for odd colored plants, but any plant really. At this point she had found nothing but grass, needless to say it was clear tat if anything existed out here, it would be different.

8616 Loot Dice 13. Nothing found

She huffed loudly after another minute or so, kicking a nearby tree and cursing out loud. There was no good reason this should be so difficult. She narrowed her gaze and pulled her mace from her inventory. It was time to vent. Anima made several swings with the weapon into a nearby tree, breaking off chunks of digital bark in her wake.Once she had settled down a bit she returned the weapon back to her inventory and began to look around again.

8621 Loot Dice 5. Nothing found

Like before she still managed to find nothing. Perhaps this skill was not really meant for her after all. She seemed to have real trouble finding herbs, and even greater trouble keeping her composure. After all there had to be a reason there were so few alchemists in Aincrad, if not because of the difficulty finding material then for what other reason? She hissed coldly as she kicked at a nearby tree trunk. This was proving to be just an unpleasant experience. Still she kept focused and her search continued.

8622 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

Several more frustrating minutes went by to which Anima continued to voice her frustration in a verbal and vulgar manner. She wondered how many people had walked by and her her cursing so loudly. At the same time though she, as always, would remain apathetic to other peoples concerns when it came to her rather unladylike language. After all a lion does not concern itself with the opinions of sheep.she smiled now as she remembered how many bans, and warnings she had received from various games for her colorful language.

That's what she needed to do, to get through this quest at least, keep a cheery disposition. Soon she would be done, and be powerful enough to troll many many players again. She could lure them out, make them angry, force them to make mistakes and laugh while they suffered. Just thinking of that alone lifted her spirits. It was after all what she wanted to do and part of the reason why she had chosen this profession over others. She knew it was hard to understand, which was why she had no intention of revealing her plans to anyone. As she thought on the subject she continued to search. Though now that she was distracted with her own thoughts she was only half looking for the herbs. Of course now that she was preoccupied with her thoughts she was not so frustrated either.

8749 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

Despite finding nothing but grass again, she was feeling much lighter. She had even begun to sing out loud to herself. If the rest of the day went by like this it wouldn't be so bad, so long as she was left alone, she could plot, and sing and generally enjoy herself. After all this was her first real trip outside the protection of the gated city, there was no reason why she shouldn't enjoy it. She continued to sing along now as continued her search.

8764 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

It had now been an hour since she had started her initial search for materials, and quest for the skill. And still she was no closer than when she had started. These materials, as common as they are proved elusive to her untrained eye. Her resolved began to strengthen however as each failure proved how difficult this skill actually was, and how beneficial to her plans it could be. Very few would have it, fewer would use it, and no one else would use it like her. She was well on her way to becoming an original, unstoppable character in a game of clones. With that in mind she continued to look.

8772 Loot Dice 4. Nothing found

Nothing again, but in her own mind she was getting better at discovering nothing so perhaps that meant she would soon be able to discover something, After all by this point she should have found something, anything. Perhaps this was fate getting her bad luck out of the way so that her future would be smooth sailing, or maybe there was some sinister motive holding her back. Could the game be trying to keep her from becoming far too powerful? perhaps, but that would only make her want it more. She would not back down now that she had started. She would do this and it would work.

8774 Loot Dice 10. Nothing found

Her gaze narrowed, though this time in determination rather than annoyance. This was the game stopping her. It had to be. There was no other alternative theory that worked. It had to know, and it wanted her to stop. At this point the system itself was defying her and she would not be pushed around by 1's and 0's. her will was far too strong for that. She would keep looking now, and not stop till she had won.

8777 Loot Dice 8. Nothing found

Still she defied the odds, finding nothing her search. Every moment of failure caused her to hate the system more. Who was it to decide what players could succeed? She would beat it, one way or another and when she had managed to break it, every other player would stop and acknowledge that she herself was the greatest.

Perhaps this was not the spot. for her to be searching in. maybe other players had come through and cleared this area already. It was a possibility by this point. She would need to broaden her search and find somewhere that others would be less likely to search. A quick check of her map revealed a rocky outcrop not far from her. While normally barren, Anima had learned that in other games those kinds of places were often concealing small caches of herbs. She made a checkpoint on her map and closed it promptly. A quick scan of the horizon revealed her check point marker in the distance giving her a visual reference point to follow. She set out that moment to reach her new hunting ground.

It took her nearly 20 minutes to walk to her new location, and upon turning around she could see just how far away she was from the city. If anything happened she would be beyond hope. Of course with no risk there would be no reward so this move was needed. She took her time now edging towards the rocks keeping an eye out for players and animals alike so as to avoid any surprises. She was also looking to find anything other than grass.

8779 Loot Roll 8. Nothing found

Her first visual sweep of the area turned up nothing. No players, no animals and sadly no herbs. This however did well to prove her point and re enforce her resolve. This game would not beat her, it didn't matter how far she needed to go to do it, she would win. She continued singing again, this time something a little more aggressive that did well to get her pumped up while she searched. Somewhere here was the answer she had been looking for, and there was no way it could hide forever.

8781 Loot Roll 10. Nothing found

She let out a low groan and cast her gaze to the sky now. She half expected to see a grinning face staring down at her laughing at her failure. Of course there was nothing like that, just pleasant blue skies and a few lazy clouds. She shook her head now as she dropped her eyes back to the ground. Somewhere there was something and it would be found sooner or later. Anima gave a kick and began walking around the stone formation. It was nothing special, a few odd shaped rocks sticking out of the ground at weird angles.

8789 Loot Roll 14. Nothing found

For a moment she thought she saw something sticking out of the ground. It had a green leaf and looked as though it might be alive. Upon closer inspection however she realized that it was in fact just a twig that had been wedged between a few odd rocks. How disappointing. She had committed a great deal of her day to this and so far had come up empty handed. Of course this was the closest she had come so far so perhaps that meant that her luck was changing, that she was going to find her answer soon. either way she was not going to give up and continued searching.

8792 Loot Roll 12. Nothing found

Anima stopped now clenching her fists for a few moments before relaxing. All she had to do was keep going, that was it, keep pushing and she would eventually find what she needed.

Anima continued her search, turning over a few larger rocks as she did. This was a feat on its own as they were considerably heavier than what she was used to. Part of the young girl knew that nothing grew under them, but it felt good to let out her anger in a physical way. She knew her plants were here, they had to be. The game had them, otherwise there would not actually be a profession for them. It was simple logic. She would just need to change her approach that's all. Perhaps she wasn't looking right, or was looking too fast, maybe she was waiting for an item name to appear and alert her, when it didn't do that here. After all her experience was less than exceptional outside of the city walls. She decided to take another look before abandoning the rocks to try somewhere else.

8847 Loot Dice 16. Herb Found

She circled around the rocks one more time and to her surprise she noticed something different. A small green plant was sticking out of the grass next to a tall pointed rock. Her heart began to race as she debated on running over to it. She decided to walk, not wanting to get her hopes up and find another twig. As she neared it however she noticed that it was actually coming out of the ground. It had more than one leaf and it looked alive. Like an actual living plant. She knelt down next to it, and touched the plant gently. Instantly an option appeared on her screen asking if she wanted to take it. Anima clicked yes instantly.

- ITEM ACQUIRED - Green Sword Leaf

Green Sword Leaf

A common plant found on most floors. Its properties are incredibly universal and is used in many potions found in the world of Aincrad. It's most common use however is within health potions. Without the use of an alchemist the herb has no usable properties when consumed, But it will create a mild tingling sensation through out the body that lasts a few seconds. Can be used to make leaf green Dye.

Anima gave a shout as she jumped up into the air. She was elated with her success, and made sure the world knew it. She took a second now to pull open her inventory and find the new item that had been placed there. Sure enough Green Sword Leaf was now listed with quantity 1. She smiled as she activated the item, forcing it to appear in her free hand. The plant felt smooth, with no ridges or real textures to it. She took a second to look it over and get familiar with it before she popped it into her mouth. it tasted sweet, but also had a grass like taste to it. The effects were very sudden and she could feel a mild tingling all over, it wasn't at all unpleasant. Soon the effects wore off and she went back to her search.

The effects of the Blade Leaf quickly wore off and Anima knew it was time to continue her search. She wasn't sure how many of these it would take to complete this quest, but now she was committed. She had taken the first step and there was no way she was backing down now. Before she began however she pulled open her map and put an Icon on the spot that she was in. It was a simple marker to indicate where she had found the plant Node, so that she could come back here in the future after it respawns, assuming it even did that. With her marker placed she closed the window and began searching around again. How long would it take this time to find another one? would it go quicker now that she knew what to look for?

8911 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

Given her recent success, Anima was not even phased now that she had gone several minutes and found nothing. There were many reasons why she might not be able to find anything now. Maybe there was only one node here to begin with. Still she felt it important to keep her search up here for just a little longer, after all who knew what she would find. Maybe waiting around the corner some rare herb was waiting to be found.

Anima continued to search around, following suit the way she had before, making sure to be extra careful not to miss anything that she may or may not have seen already. She was still fueled by her one success so far, and it was enough to give her greater hope. Not that she needed it, Anima was after all incapable of being wrong, in her own eyes at least. She knelt down by another rock peering around it to see if anything was visible.

9066 Loot Dice 9. Nothing found

Once again she had found nothing. That was okay however as she got up and left the area. She was going to try and spot something along the city wall. She had heard players mention that sometimes herbs grew outside up against the walls, and since no one walked along the outer rim, no one ever found them. To her it seemed the perfect place to look around.

Anima smiled as she turned to leave her new found spot. She had now intended to search the walls, which as she discovered when she looked back were now far off in the distance. Had she really walked that far? apparently time seemed to cruise by and she hadn't actually notice how far she had gone. This would prove an inconvenience for her as she had wanted to finish this quest. Still there wasn't much she could do now aside from speed along back to the city walls. It took her nearly an hour to return, but when she did she wasted no time in searching for her next Herb.

9802 Loot Dice 13. Nothing found

After several moments Anima had still found nothing. She let out another sigh, and gently tapped her knuckles against the wall in minor irritation. This was tough, thats all their was to it, but it was soon over she just had to keep it up. Once satisfied she began walking along the walls outer length. To most it would be intimidating. Nearly 50 feet high, and stretching out for miles as it enveloped the city within. But to her it was nothing more than decoration. There really was no need for it. Players could after all teleport in and out of the city at will, as well as use the various gates scattered around to simply walk in. There was no way to keep people out, not that there was any sort of siege mechanic in this game that made keeping people out necessary. As she walked she held her hand out running her finger tips along the wall while she continued her search. it always impressed her how real things like this actually felt despite being just coding.

9803 Loot Dice 20. Rare Herb found

Anima had been watching the ground, which is why she hadn't seen the plant growing out of the wall itself some 3 feet above the ground. If not for her hand touching it she wouldn't have noticed it at all. She looked over and gasped as she caught sight of a red plant growing out of a crack in the walls. It was strange, for starters being red, but it had golden lines along its stem and leaves. At its tip sat a single unopened red bud. She stopped now gasping in disbelief as she stared at her find. She didn't know much about Herbs, but she could even tell that this one was special. After a moment or so she reached out to collect it, and as she did the bud opened. It produced a golden flower that shone with a brightness that seemed to rival the sun itself, forcing her to look away. As her finger tips neared it a menu popped up asking if she wanted to collect it. Anima promptly clicked yes and the Item was added to her inventory.

- ITEM ACQUIRED - Sun Lotus

Sun Lotus

A rare flower found only on floor one. It's soft petals emit a brilliant light when close to a player, often blinding those nearby who do not shield their eyes. It has a unique red stem, that seems to have veins of raw sunlight coursing through it. This plant is used in the creation of Regeneration Potions, as well as can be used in Cure all potions. When consumed this plant will produce a warming sensation within the user, as well as a gentle glow will be emitted by the player. Cannot be found at night. Makes Sunfire Gold Dye.

Anima looked around now as she held her breath, both wanting to see if anyone had seen her find as well as see if there were any other plants nearby. Once satisfied that she was alone, and that her plant was the only one she released her breath and smiled, pulling open her map, and marking her location for another node. Once she had she pulled open her inventory and produced her flower again. She was instantly bombarded with the flower blinding light and was forced to cup her hands over it to keep it from hurting her eyes. "All right, Down the hatch." She said both to herself and her intended victim before closing her eyes and popping the plant into her mouth. It felt warm as she chewed it, and before long she had swallowed it. The warmth seemed to flood through her entire body after a second. It brought an immediate smile to her face. Now the search could continue.

The search continued now as Anima trudged on looking for more plants. She could still feel the warmth from the Sun Lotus all over her body, but given that it was midday she was unable to see the glowing effect that she would have been experiencing. The actual thrill of hunting for materials, coupled with the anticipation of finding something was starting to appeal more and more to her, and she could suddenly picture herself wasting days and days looking for materials to further herself. Maybe she had actually found a calling here, and she wouldn't need to troll the lesser players. "NAH" She thought with a smile as she continued to look for more plants.

9822 Loot Dice 3. Nothing found

As she walked along nothing seemed to jump out at her in regards to visibility. She was even making sure to keep an eye on the walls as well, looking for cracks that might support plant life like she had discovered prior. In this case she had wanted to go get at least one more item before she returned to the shop. AT least thats what she thought the quest had needed. Sample 3 Plants, and return to make a potion, or something like that. She sighed again, though this was not in frustration, rather in excitement. She was almost done with this quest and would be ready to begin her own career soon. There wasn't long to go. She had to find one more item and continued to search.

9823 Loot Dice 5. Nothing found

The day was beginning to drag on along with Anima's search. She had been out of the safety of the city now for nearly three hours, and had produced only two plants in that time. She was proving a failure at searching, but she knew it was a skill that would develop with time. With her hand back on the wall Anima continued her search, dragging her finger tips gently along the hardened surface. Despite it's aesthetic nature it was still quite a marvel, even if it was useless. She also noticed the the earth around the wall itself was not actually covered in grass, but rather dirt. The grass itself started growing about 2 meters away from the wall, creating a donut of dust around the city. A strange thing to say the least.

9827 Loot Dice 12. Nothing found

Nothing else seemed to jump out at her, or rather nothing else seemed as obvious as the previous plant she had found. Still this was a long wall, with many places to look, so she could not get disparaged now, not yet, not while she still drew breath.

9868 Loot Dice 19. Uncommon Herb found

It took her nearly 10 more minutes of searching before she finally found her next plant. It unlike the last one was growing from the ground. It was a few feet away from the wall and stood out alone in the dirt. This one was blue in color, with a slight green tinge to the leaves. Unlike the last one this plant also had no flower, but instead looked oddly like a weed. Anima smiled as she bent over and picked up the plant adding it into her inventory. This would be the last one she would need for this quest.

- ITEM ACQUIRED - Poison Prickle

Poison Prickle

This is an uncommon weed, found on many herbs. It offers no beneficial properties, but can be used in many poisons designed to either paralyze or debuff players. It is recommended that players do not consume Poison prickle as it will act to poison the ingesting player. This weed cannot be used to make dyes.

Anima opened her menu and produced the plant again. It sat in her hand now, looking odd and sickly, its blue green leaves drooping over her fingers. She could tell by looking at it that she should not eat this plant. But, it was required for the quest. She gulped hard debating her choice. She could eat it now and risk the negative effects, or she could keep looking and run the risk of finding nothing, or worse, other players or Mobs. After a deep inner conflict she decided to take the risk, after all, nothing ventured, nothing gained. She swallowed again before tossing the weed into her mouth and chewing it as fast as she could. It was rubbery and tough, and tasted oddly sour. Anima swallowed it as fast as she could and shrugged feeling no immediate effects. Perhaps the other plants she had eaten counteracted it? Either way she shrugged as she began to walk back to the gate.

Suddenly out of the blue a terrible pain gripped her stomach and she nearly doubled over. She groaned and looked up to her health bar and noticed the poison icon next to her life bar, as well as a tick of health dropping away. "Dammit" She groaned as she put her hand out to the wall using it to hold her up while she stumbled towards the gate. Hopefully this would be worth it.

Anima let out another groan as she walked along the walls edge towards the city gate. She felt terrible now, her insides burned terribly, and she regretted her choice to eat that last plant. Her free hand clutched her stomach, while her other held her up against the wall, if not for this she would have doubled over for sure.Luckily the gate, or rather a gate was not too far away. All she had to do was get there and she would be home free. A casual and pained look around revealed no sign of other players or Mobs, meaning she was safe, though she secretly wished someone would come by scoop her up and rush her into the city. Of course she had made it this far without a prince charming, and it was safe to assume she could go further, so that's what she would do.

Under normal circumstances it would have taken her ten minutes to reach the gate if that, but given her debilitating status, it had taken her twice that long. She huffed and groaned again as she rounded the corner and slumped up against the wall within the city limits. Finally she was in a safe zone, she couldn't die here, and her health would start to regenerate quickly once the poison wore off. Till then she would just have to bear it a little longer. But now she wasn't in any hurry, she could sit here and wait a little while, catch her breath and relax, maybe drink some water to help. That on its own was a great idea and she quickly produced from her inventory a water bottle. She drank it quickly, almost in one gulp. It felt cool and refreshing, even easing the pain in her stomach a bit.

Anima still felt terrible due to the poison's effects, despite the relief she had received from the water. But it was a given that she would continue to suffer after ingesting an unknown plant. The trick now was getting back to the potion shop and finishing the quest. She had to make a potion now on top of everything else. She shook her head wondering if any body else had gone through the same thing while completing this quest. She let out another groan as she got up onto her feet. It was then she spotted something. A Plant growing next to a nearby building. It was hidden in the shadow of the house, and barely noticeable. She laughed at her luck as she struggled over to it.

As she had suspected it was a simple green leafed herb, a Green Sword Leaf. It was a common herb, that could be used in many potions, so it was nothing too special. Still, a mat was a mat and she would use all the mats she could get now. Anima scooped up the herb adding it to her inventory, before proceeding on. Luckily she wasn't far off of her quest marker and soon found herself back at the shops entry. With a great deal of effort she pulled herself through the shops door, and slumped against an inside wall. The NPC shop keeper came by and immediately started a dialogue.

"Oh, I see you have gone out and learned about the Herbs of our world. Why Don't you help me make a potion before you go? I will give you the supplies, and You can Give me the finished product."

Anima sighed as she pulled herself onto her feet. Clearly the NPC was not programmed to notice the negative effects of poison.

Anima made her way over to the crafting station located at the rear of the shop. She clutched at her stomach, like she had been stabbed, for the pain was still quite bad. Meanwhile the shop owner NPC busied herself sweeping up the already clean floor. Clearly she was just on a simple program loop. Anima ignored her however as she raised her free hand to activate the shop table. Instantly it sprang to life as nearby vials began to bubble, Burners ignited, and a flask began to smoke. Despite her discomfort this sight actually made her chuckle, as it reminded her of so many games where otherwise lifeless objects would begin to move and interact the moment a player got near. Once she had settled down a bit, Anima set to work on making her first potion.

Anima pulled open her menu's and noticed something was different. Where her inventory was there existed now a second option. It was Alchemist tutorial. When she clicked it a single item appeared, next to the option, Green Sword Leaf x 99. She stared at the item for a moment, marveling at the number of materials available for the tutorial. In her entire day she had only managed to find a 4 herbs, and yet here were 99. It caused her to smile with envy at the systems unlimited supply of goods. Finally once the shock settled she began her work, pulling an item from the supply, Which didn't seem to drop the number at all, and setting out putting it to use. She mixed the Herb with with the various liquids until a puff of green smoke erupted from her vial. This caused the shop keeper to end her cleaning cycle and come over to her, snatching up the potion and looking at it in the light. After several seconds of awkward waiting, the NPC smiled and the potion disappeared.

"Very good, I'll be able to sell that. Would you like to try again?"

The NPC didn't wait for a reply but rather walked off and began sweeping again. At that point an icon appeared for Anima to click on. She hesitated, before finally clicking it. A message appeared indicating that she had completed the quest. It listed her as an Alchemist, and indicated how she could go about opening a shop of her own. She smiled at the message, and closed it down noticing that a title appeared under her name. It read "Alchemist". She had done it, she had completed the task for which she set out. Still It couldn't hurt to get a little more practice, so she decided to try again at the potion station.

Anima turned back to the crafting station and pulled up the menu again. Just like before the option to use the shop materials was there and she clicked on it, producing a single green herb. Also just like before she began work on a new potion. While she was trying to replicate her results from before, she was also looking to try something different and hopefully get a new potion all together.

As Anima worked a loud hiss rang out from the Vial in her hand. It seemed she had mixed the wrong components and they were having a negative reaction. Before she could do anything else the Vial exploded loudly and violently sending her to the ground in a grand fashion, while shards of glass pelted the walls. Smoke filled the room, clouding her vision and staining her skin, clothes and the very room. She coughed hard, still feeling the effects of her ailment, now combined with the smoke inhalation. The NPC seemed un phased by the explosion and continued sweeping, now actually having a mess to clean up. It was then that Anima noticed something strange, under the table was a single uprooted plant. It was an odd sight but she wasted no time in snatching up the herb. Sure enough it added to her inventory. Someone must have dropped it while working here earlier, "Oh well, there loss". She thought with a smile getting back up.

Anima proceeded to the table again, suddenly feeling much better, as the poisons effects finally wore off. She smiled, taking a deep breath, and stretching out, something she had been too cramped to do while under the plants effects. She wanted to try one more time to make a potion, her odds were good, and she just felt like she could make something worth while, not that she could use it. She cast a wayward glance back to the NPC, knowing that it would scoop up whatever she made the moment she did. It sure would be nice when this was done so that she could make her own potions. With that thought in mind she began working again.

The young girls smile quickly faded as the potion she was working on began to sizzle and pop loudly. Moments later the NPC swooped over and scooped the flask from her hand, examining it like she had done earlier. This time however she frowned and tossed it over her shoulder.

"No, No, No. That simply wont do. I can't sell that. Do you want to try again?"

Anima only laughed giving her head a shake as she decided maybe working here was not the best place for her. She took a step away from the table and it seemed to power down just as suddenly as it had burst to life earlier. It was funny how these things works. She smiled at the NPC and gave a little bow, before turning to leave. As she did she noticed a small potted plant growing in the corner of the room. For a moment she wondered if this was a lootable item, and approached it to see. Like several of the other Items she had found it asked if she wanted to add it to her inventory, to which she clicked yes. She made a note to change her loot settings to auto loot.
