Just a simple growing the legs did not faze her at all, but it knew that it had another trick up its sleeve, saved for the very end. Since it was not dropping into the red yet, there was no real reason to use it, as all bosses were programmed a similar way in Aincrad. There are many things that it could do to the girl, but it had to select the right type of attack to neutralize the girl's damage. It was a very important task that it had to do, or else it was going to be dead in a matter of turns. She had struck five successive attacks, and six of the last seven. She was on a roll, and it did not seem like she was going to stop anytime soon, unless it could knock her off her streak. As she tried to disengage after that strike, one of the trees branches managed to clip the girl dealing a tiny bit of damage, but she just continued on as if nothing had stopped her. She was lucky, not to get slammed backwards just because of her quick reaction. Rebekah knew she needed to have a short memory, and not let that make her hesitate her next move. This was where she can show the improvement of her rapier skills, since that first time she killed a boar on floor one. Since then she had been a part of several bigger boss raids, so she knew she had the confidence, but something felt weird. She took the time to quickly inspect her exterior, and found that she was fine, but time ran out before she could managed to get a strike in. Now it had to stall out the girl for its attacks to kill her or to dissuade her from continuing. That was a tall task to tackle, as she was realatively at full health, but not impossible. That said, it was highly impossible for it to kill her at this point unless an incredible miracle happen. However, it was not going down without a fight, and that was what it was going to give her. Rebekah 0 Posted June 19, 2015 Author #24 Report Share Posted June 19, 2015 It was her turn once again to strike, and although her stamina was being drained quickly, she still had enough in the tank to finish this battle. She knew that rest and relaxation can come after this important battle, but first it was important for her to finish off this annoying boss. After today, Rebekah was not going to look at a simple tree the same way again, as there are a lot of things she had to worry about, but this was the least of her concerns. However she learned from the past, not to look too far ahead or else she will run into trouble again. That thought had cost her attack window, as she missed her attack. Rebekah 0 Posted June 19, 2015 Author #25 Report Share Posted June 19, 2015 The tree managed to mitigate her attack once again, now all it needed to do was to start inflicting some damage against the girl. With her basic mitigation It's attacks do not do much against her, thus making it a tough battle for the tree. The girl picked the right type of fight to tackle, as she had the upper hand in this, as this would continue until she decides to stop which with not happen. It had only one successful attack so far that worked which was slamming her with its branches, and the tree looked for every opportunity to replicate that attack. She was looking for the right type of attack, having failed twice in a row, Rebekah needed her momentum back. There was one thing that she still needed to get over which was to recreate the momentum that she had earlier. It was a tall task to climb for the girl, and she knew that there must be a weakness that she could exploit now, she just had to look for it. Then she remembered, the tree is slow, that was the exploit that she needed, as she thruster her sword into the relatively inmobile tree, leaving them with roughly the same hit points remaining. It had one final form to attack, but now was not the time, as it was not blinking red health bar just yet. It was programmed to change right at the end, but not before. The speed it takes for it to wind up an attack with the tree branches takes too long to surprise the girl, and the attack had failed yet again. She needed to watch out for what might happen iin the future, just so she iis ready for anything. There was another opening in the defenses of the tree if only she could aim for that weak spot not covered by any bark. The entire tree except for that spot was covered with wooden armour that protected the tree from the harsh conditions and other monsters but apprantely not the steel of a sword. The tree began to wait, there was still no sun shining down for it to use photosynthesis to regain health. The girl was lucky, fighting during a cloudy day. It would be taunting it, and she did not want to do it, as the tree had been conserving its energy, barely making an effort to attack her. However, it was telegraphing the move to the girl and she managed to avoid being struck by the tree trunks on the way down, just the tree branches had hit her. The tree was unlucky not to do more damage but this girl was tough, as she was ready for just about anything. If it weren't for her speed, it could dealt a massive amount of damage, if an average player was in the same situation. The tree was changing iits attack pattern and this always happened when the boss was about to die. Since the tree was lying there after the fall, Rebekah took the opportunity to quickly strike the boss before it could run away, knocking its health bar into the red. It knew another clean strike from her would be enough, so it scrambled back on to its feet to try to hold outbas long as possible. It was going to have to be extremely careful as it looked for any weakness in the girl's armour. She had no armour in at all. Many have often missed this when it had happened, so it was not a surprise to them that this was the toughest strike left. As long as she got this, she would be worthy of her rapier grandmaster status, as she took down something that her training had prepared her for. She took a deep breath then killed the tree point blank. As the tree exploded into particles, she finally felt worthy of her grandmaster status, she would have thought a lot more in the past than rely on instinct.
