SP-F3: Earning a Living - Alchemic Wonderland

Recommended Posts

Another tuft of grass, another failed attempt to gather materials. Mari shuffled along a few paces - deciding that looking in a slightly different area may just increase her chances. It was completely flawed logic, but it seemed to be a common thing to do. Mari noticed that others did the same thing. Mining, it was different - you simply followed the vein along the wall, or broke open a rock. This? This was different. She was surrounded by the damn grass. Short of upheaving every single clump there wasn't exactly a simple or linear way to harvest it.

"God F***ing dammit!" Mari exclaimed as she attempted to carefully dig out a tuft of grass but it again, snapped in her hands. "This is just a stupid waste of god-damned time..." She muttered, trying hard to ignore the build up of dirt underneath her nails. She'd have to take another swim in a river later. Mari wasn't sure when housing would become unlocked, but the moment it did, she'd buy herself a damn house - and have the longest shower. Mari was never going to take the redemption quest, so inns? Towns? That was no longer an option for her, but a house? If one could be built out of the safe zone, that would be perfect.

Although, knowing her luck, there'd be some sort of restriction on them.

"This is really beginning to piss me off..." Mari muttered, as she failed again, perhaps Alchemy took a finesse, and a delicate touch that Mari simply did not possess right now. Still, it was  bound to be a more lucrative business model than a performer. Even with whatever upgrade the professions seemed to have gotten. Throughout her entire time as a Performer, she only ever sold one Monster Grenade. One. That's it. Not that she had spent a lot of time crafting them, she did have a good 20 at one stage, before donating some and using the others.

Finally, FINALLY! Mari managed to pull another clump of grass up, and not break it. Mari got up, placing it in her inventory. She was not going to waste any more time on this stupid, meaningless quest. She made a quick pit stop at the river, feverishly washing the dirt and grime from her hands. As Mari walked, she dried her hands off on her pink, ripped skirt. Making her way out of the forest and toward the NPC which stood out of the safe zone. It was well past noon now. Mari had wanted to have her shop set up, and her crafting attempts finished before the day was out, she was running out of time.

Mari made it Petunia, and handed over the Materials to her. Petunia smiled, "Ah, yes, thank you dearie. Now, let me show you how the fine, delicate art of Alchemy works."

She first made a simple potion, "Alchemists can make a matter of things, such as potions, and poisons. We can also break them down back to their base components."

Mari blinked, not expecting that piece of knowledge, Petunia seemingly de constructed the potion and was left with the ingredients again, next she made a crystal. "The most useful thing an alchemist can make, are crystals." She paused, breaking it down into its raw materials again. "Here." She handed Mari the materials she had spent hours collecting.

"Here, may you help many on your journey."

<<Quest Completed>>

"Yeh...sure...help people..." Mari muttered as she walked away. Next step. She'd have to set up her shop, at least she was now officially an Alchemist.
