[SP-F1] Fighting Alone <<Worn Out Welcome>>

Kotori stood in front of the famous tailor shop, a special one owned by a NPC couple that gave out quests for which a piece of armor would be given out upon completion. Her eyes were fierce, full of determination to do this task on her own. It was about damn time that she did stuff without other players, she could manage on her own. The only things she required to do this was her dagger and her wits. She walked into the establishment, her ponytail swinging back and forth as she put one leg in front of the others. She moved towards the counter and then looked at owner of the shop, Griswold. He was tall and was very surly, but seemed to be busy with talking to his wife. "Excuse me?" she questioned, wanting to bring the attention to herself. "What!?" the man asked. That was rude. She had just wanted to ask for something. His wife, who introduce herself as Hanna saw this and decided to instead be the person speaking. "What is it that you want sweetie?" The female asked in a sweet tone. "I would to take part in the Worn Out Welcome quest."

 

Instantly, a menu with two options, yes and no, appeared. Her finger brushed upon the yes option and then her irises turning to the NPC. "So it seems you want an armor. Well, we have a variety of options ranging from leather, light metal, heavy metal and so on. Which one do you want to take?" The brunette pondered over the choices. She could go for the extra HP or for less damage taken but that wouldn't help her out a lot. She wouldn't need more HP if she could avoid the attacks and the same went for less damage taken. The girl finally made her choice, there would be no backing down from this. "I would like to take the leather." Hanna smiled contently, almost as if that was a correct answer. "Good choice! Anyway, if you want us to make your leather armor, you are going to need to go to floor 1. There you will need to kill at least 4 boars and bring us their leathery skin." Kotori nodded as she understood the conditions of this quest. After giving thanks to the lady, she dashed towards the teleportation gate in Delilah Village. Her body dissipated before reappearing in Starting City. It was set. The girl in her typical gear and her serrated dagger ran towards the field. She would finish this quest on her own.

A lonely boar grazing on some grass. A group of three players laughing while strolling together. A snake slithering by an unwary NPC. These were the things that Kotori were observing as she made her trek onto the sunny field. She had been meaning to do something on her own for a while, however so many events were blocking her from doing this. Other recent events made her more wanting to do something on her own, to prove she wasn't some helpless damsel. Of course she was thankful for a few set people assisting her. Still, she wanted to do things on her own and get used to that type of play style. She also needed to level up, get her stats up. Level 8 wasn't going to cut it for her. Her eyes tracked down the lone boar from earlier. It seemed to be docile and it was probably best for it to be that way. Kotori started to sneak up on it, trying to get the first attack.

All she needed to do was land one hit. Just one hit and she would be golden. Her eyes examined the possible directions from which she could attack, but before she could so, she heard an awful sound. It was the sound of a leaf being crushed beneath her foot. Her eyes glanced upwards and were met by a crimson irises and a large snort. She jumped back and went into a battle stance. The boar hadn't made a move, it still couldn't tell how dangerous Kotori was. This was an advantage, she still somewhat had the element of surprise even if she couldn't attack it without it knowing about it.

Kotori dashed at the wild pig, her dagger blade first. She leapt from side to side with the hope of confusing her opponent. This was going to be simply, after all she didn't need to do a lot of hits. She reached the boar's side and then held her arm out. The knife cut a long red line in the side of the boar doing enough damage for it to cut at her with its own tusks. The injured brunette grabbed her arm and went backwards to avoid another attack. It was a close call, but she had put the monster's health in the yellow zone. It would be only a few more hits till it keeled over and died.

It was quite strange fighting on her own. Scratch that, being by herself. Kotori had gotten used to being in other people's company, something she would have never imagined doing so in real life. She was quite lonely back home. Her eyes widened in realization. She didn't want to go back home. In Aincrad, she had friends and she could have fun. She was having a real life here unlike the crappy one in the real world. There was even somebody who she really liked. The girl blinked several times and remembered where she was. She was fighting a monster currently which for some reason hadn't attacked her yet. She needed to focus again although it was pretty hard to do so. In fact, it seemed her and the boar needed to because both of their attacks missed. Kotori let out a small breath, deciding it was more important to fight the boar first.

It would seem that Kotori would perpetually continue to miss every one of her shots, she was not coordinated right. Her most recent attempt at stabbing the boar in front of her had ended in a failure at the boar knocked down on to her butt and her dagger a few feet away from her. The girl scrambled towards the weapon and got back up on her feet, ready to begin attacking once more. It wasn't worth getting mad over a few rotten eggs. Still, she needed to concentrate more on her target because if she didn't, the wild pig would get the better of her and she would wind up dead.

Kotori sprinted at the boar with the intent to kill. She didn't want this battle to last longer than it needed to and she also wanted to get her reward quickly. It wasn't a matter of life or death, just a preference to speed things up. Unfortunately, in her attempts to speed up the battle , she ended up prolonging it when she missed another attack, yet again. Her dagger was blocked by the boar's tusks and she had to back up a bit to avoid its counter. This was really going to be a long day and the brunette had to let out a sigh when she realized this. It would've been much simpler to go find a tailor instead of doing this quest.

The brown-haired girl dodged a couple of the boar's latest attacks, each one becoming more and more predictable. It almost seemed as if the boar wasn't even in that much of the fight, almost if it knew what was coming. Kotori decided instead to focus more on her attack and moved in from the right. She grabbed her dagger and slashed at animal's left flank. It was a critical and the brunette saw the monster's HP bar moves into the red zone. Only a few more hits. The mob decided to come out with a counter, however and attacked the player. She received a couple of scratches, but it was nothing to serious.

Kotori glanced slightly at her dagger. She cherished it not for its stats or shape, but for who it was from and who had given it to her. Oikawa, a boy she met a few weeks earlier gave it to her so that she could fight slightly better. It wasn't the best of knives, but it would do it for her. Her concentration on the weapon left the girl open for an attack and the boar took that opportunity in a heartbeat. Rearing its tusks, the animal tossed the skinny player to ground and bashed over and over before retreating to a safe distance. Kotori however was in pain even though her HP hadn't even reached the yellow zone yet. She grunted before reaching for her weapon and going into a battle stance, ready to kill the mob once and for all.

Kotori ran so fast at the creature, she looked like a brown blur from the distance. The boar had done this time and now it was going to pay for causing her that much pain when she was distracted. The girl gripped her dagger tightly, charging it up so that she would use the Sword Skill on it. As she drew closer the pig, she leapt to the side and continued sprinting until she was at the animal's side. The brunette drew her knife high and brought it down with a strong force, stabbing the top part of the monster's side. The animal let out a death cry and then disappeared into a explosion of pixels. It left in its place 1 out of the 4 leather hides needed to complete the quest and 50 pieces of Col. Kotori smiled slightly, content with finally defeating a mob on her own and getting loot to go with it.

Kotori's eyes found a new victim to toy with, a small boar along the edge of the forest. Perfect. She gripped her dagger tightly with the intent to kill. Quickly. She walked towards the monster with her dagger in hand and ready to battle. This was the strategy she was going to employ and it was to attack with the element of surprise and then properly fight off the mobs. If she kept doing this maybe the quest wouldn't take so long and she could go on with her day. It wasn't as bad though as she originally thought, it was actually a bit easier to fight the pigs and she still had a decent amount of health. At this point however, she needed to focus on the task at hand and actually engage battle with the boar. The girl slowly crept up towards the mob and braced herself for battle.

Kotori lifted her daggers upwards and brought it down unto the unsuspecting boar. A loud noise was made, that of metal cutting flesh. It was a critical and she watched as the health bar floating above the animal reached the halfway point. This was already a good start and if she could get another critical she was golden. The animal snorted in anger and retreated to a safe position. Kotori did the same, minus the snorting and the anger. In fact, at the moment the girl was ecstatic and radiant to have landed such a deadly attack. Now only to duplicate the success and finish off the boar quickly.
