» History:

There was a period in Bruce's life where fame was all that mattered. In school, he was that one kid who towered above the others, who ran the farthest, who lifted the most. He was the physical prodigy of his class. His studies were below average, but his sporting accomplishments landed him praise in school and praise at home. His teenage mind was clouded by greed, a thirst for attention and praise. As soon as he was of age, he entered a strongman competition, hoping to win and become world's greatest.

 

His 'fame' wasn't to be, however. There were men much greater than him in the competition. Ones that, even for him, were giants. He didn't even make it past the first stages, overshadowed by other men, much greater than him. He returned home distraught, angry. Striking the wall with frustration, he almost cried, until a book fell and hit him on the head. "Norse Mythology" was the name of the book. The Scandinavian boy decided to take his mind off of his loss by reading myths of his country, but found himself reading well into the night. With each passing day, his fascination grew. He read while eating, while training, while in public transportation. Whenever he could, he learned more and more about the Norse Mythology. Indeed, he learned enough to make quite some friends who shared his interests and discussed the topic with him.

 

As his friends and their families began moving apart physically, they found it harder and harder to meet and talk, especially with Bruce having moved to Japan, until one of them suggested SAO as a place to meet in. They all decided to use names from Norse mythology, but Bruce messed up while picking it and instead of "Brokkr" he finalized it as "Brokke", which brought him some embarrassment from his peers. The men joined the game, hoping to find a hub for discussion as well as having some fun, but his friends sadly died fairly soon, leaving him alone to deal with the world.

 

» Virtues:

Gentle Giant: Despite being quite large and bulky, Brokke is actually quite a kind person. This also makes him quite useful for being a sort of a handyman for others. He'll gladly help out strangers if they are kind back to him.

 

Living Shield: Having lost many of his friends to the game, Brokke can get pretty protective of whatever friends he has. He doesn't stupidly run in to block any attacks that come at them, but if he thinks he can defend them with his large body then he'll do it.

 

Intimidating: Despite his gentle demeanor, when Brokke needs to bulk up and threaten someone, he'll do it. He knows that kindness, while his preferred behavior, only gets you so far.

 

Soothing Voice: Through a combination of a deep voice and partially through his accent, Brokke's voice is quite soothing on the ears. It can help calm down party members or make people feel a little kinder towards him, though of course when he needs to he can make his voice boom.

 

» Flaws:

Perfectionist: Brokke's performance and behavior can worsen if he's berated or told that he's 'inadequate' by others. He can easily lose his cheerful attitude if people don't see him as, at the very least, average.

 

Big Bodied: Brokke's body structure means that narrow passages or gaps can be really problematic to him. Additionally, despite being a gentle person, sometimes his large size can be a detriment when dealing with very precise tasks.

 

Berserk Button - Norse Mythology: Being a person that is really passionate about the subject, Brokke can become very argumentative if you mess up in this field. He can become difficult to work with if that is the case.

 

Weakness - Name: Pointing out Brokke's name as being a mistype of 'Brokkr' can easily upset Brokke, who would feel embarrassed and as if he screwed up an awful lot.
