[SP-F1] He can Art? «Earning a Living» {Completed}

Jia rushed in to strike as usual but faltered when he neared, realizing he was being too rash with his fighting. He took a few steps back from the bear. It was unwise with his health as it was to rush in so rashly with his attacks and strike.

Because Jia moved back so suddenly, the boar's attaack missed. The swipe only managed to scratch some of the trees nearby with the claw marks, resulting in sap trickling from the plants. The bear became distracted by the sap that flowed from the trees, lowering itself and lapping at the sugary substance that flowed.

Because of the bear being distracted, Jia was able to get closer without too much trouble and land a hit. He was slightly hesitant though, so the strike ended up being quite weak. The bear in turn made a halfhearted attempt at attacking Jia. With a simple swipe, the bear missed, and went back to consuming the sap.

Jia once again tried to strike but missed this time as well. The bear did as it did before, swiping aimlessly. Jia didn't do damage this time, so it's focus on Jia had almost vanished, instead focusing upon the sap of the tree.

Moving in to strike once more, it was quite obvious that his luck had ran out, for once more he missed entirely. The bear was lucky and managed to get a swipe on Jia.

The bear turned and made a direct strike at Jia, hitting him squarely in the chest. Had Jia not worn a jacket, the hit would've definitely hit harder and left a mark. Jia went backwards, tossed like a ragdoll.

The frustration definitely got to Jia, as blood began to rush in his ears and blotted out everything. The next moment he was aware of anything, the bear had been defeated, with the results screen before himself.

The moment after the blank period began, Jia's eyes had grown cold and more like a predator than prey. Being quite lucky this time that the bear was mostly distracted, Jia in his bloodlusting frame of mind was able to survive. First making one strike, dodging, and making a final harsher and much stronger strike.

Tapping the results screen, Jia noted how he had now an even bigger hide from the bear, which would be pretty cool to use and get something made later. There was also an item that strangely dropped from the bear, and was interesting due to its name. He tapped the acceptance, and it seemed the quest was pretty much done, and all he had to do was turn it in.

Well my effort definitely dropped

Arriving back to the shop from the day before via following the map that could be accessed via the HUD, Jia made sure that everything was with him before knocking on the door a few times. If his quest-giver, Maleri, was still not up, it'd be a problem as the sun was setting once more. Knocking some more impatiently, he checked the windows and it turned out that the lights were off, and no one was in.

"She's back at the place yesterday, isn't she?" muttered Jia as he began the ridiculously long trek to where he had randomly stopped yesterday.

Arriving where he was resting yesterday, he found Maleri just staring at the last vestiges of the sunset with a very tranquil look on her face as if there were no worries in the world. And so, he just waited for Maleri to notice his presence, which took quite a while, and she only ended up noticing him because he walked up to her. All of the things he gathered were taken out and laid before Maleri, including the object that had dropped from the bear earlier. It was labeled as Â«Father's Memento», and was probably once a belonging of Maleri's father's. The inference was proved true when Maleri simply gasped at the object's appearance.

She asked hurriedly, "Where did you get this?"

"From a bear," responded Jia, certain that this would end up being another tear-fest,  "Your father's probably dead now, not missing."

Maleri nodded slightly, walking off towards the shop, motioning for Jia to follow. The walk back was much quicker than thought, but the heaviness in the air made it suffocating to Jia, and he would have left right away if it wasn't for the completion of the quest. Opening the door to the shop, Maleri passed Jia a book that contained the details about being an Artisan. The quest had been completed, and Jia received the rewards as mentioned.
