[SP-F1] <<Earning a living>> (quest)

[Esmeralda 0]

As Esmeralda wandered around the town she noticed many different things, the most interesting being all the shops.  She wandered into a few of them.  Most of them were cooks or blacksmiths which she figured was good.  However, she stumbled upon a Tailor.  It was a quaint shop that seemed interesting so she figured why not and entered the shop.  "Hey, I'll be there in one second!" a cheerful voice shouted out.  "Okay" Esmeralda very quietly and meekly said while looking at everything in the shop.  Then her attention was diverted as a gentle looking lady entered the room. "What may I help you with?" she said putting down a bunch of cloth.  "Actually I was just admiring your talent, I wish I could do something like that"  Esmeralda said in awe honestly hoping one day she might learn something like that.  The lady looked at her and said "well in that case I can help you learn if you want, I'm always looking for help".  Esmeralda could barely hold in her excitement as she happily agreed.

"Go find plant sinew for thread, you will need a lot of it and a boar tusk to shape as a needle." The tailor said bringing up the quest prompt window.  Esmeralda quickly agreed ready to take on this new challenge.  Not only was she going to get training but she would also get to fight a boar.  "Alright, be careful, and you can borrow some cloth from me after you get the other materials." The said while motioning to the door letting her know that its time to start heading her way and starting her quest.  Esmeralda ran out the door hearing it chime behind it.  She didn't know where to go but figured the space just outside the city would work.  She slowly slowed down to a leisurely pace and enjoyed the walk.

She stopped walking once she reached the edge of the starting city.  Just a few minutes and then your done she thought to herself. Then she realized she forgot how much plant sinew she needed.  She stood there for a few minutes calculating as best she could.  She decided after a few minutes and a quick nod for encouragement that 5 plants would do.  She knew one tusk was all she needed as long as she didnt mess up horribly.  First off she decided to start with the plants it seemed to be the quickest part of this task.  She wandered out of the starting city carefully.  Even though she needed to fight a boar she did want too right now.  Esmeralda walked off into the direction of a large patch of flowers and plants.

Esmeralda ran into the flower patch searching all she could for a flower with a stem that would work for sinew. She spent many minutes looking around picking up flowers only to put them back down again.  Just about when she was starting to get an idea of what to look for she looked down and spotted a plant that looked just right for sinew to sew and stitch with. Jumping with joy she picked up the flower and started looking for more flowers. However, she got distracted and started playing with some random flowers that she thought looked very pretty.  She felt like she was getting the hang of it.  Although maybe this one time was just her lucky try.  She proceeded to look for more hoping that it wasn't just beginners luck.

Esmeralda walked along the flowers and plants until she saw one almost exactly like the one she saw earlier.  I found another one she thought.  She moved to pick it up but when she grabbed the plant this time it wouldn't come out of the ground.  She tugged as hard as she could but it still wouldn't budge.  After much pulling she finally got it out of the ground.  She fell backward onto ground squishing a few flowers only to discover much to her dismay that the plant was completely ruined.  Not only from her tugging but it looked like some bug ate the inside of it.  She threw down in frustration because of how much work wasted to get a plant that wouldn't work out.  She sat there for a bit staring at the plant she just de-rooted before getting up with a big sigh and looking for more plants that would work.  This might be taking longer than she thought it would.

Esmeralda looked carefully.  She did not want to do a bunch of work only to find out that the plant was a dud once again.  She kept a careful hold on the one plant she found that happens to be good.  Hopefully she can find the rest and soon.  She spied a plant that looked like it could work.  Mindful of how much noise she might make she did a quick check on the surrounding area.  last thing she wanted was a boar to attack her while she was in the middle of pulling out a plant.  She pulled out the plant easily.  It looked okay at first but upon closer inspection she discovered that the plant was a light blue color.  She also noticed that it was starting to her hand blue while she was holding it.  It wasn't hurting her but she put it down right away and decided to look in a different section of the plants.  Far away from the light blue one.

Esmeralda was starting to get desperate.  She was having horrible luck and the blue stuff wouldn't wash off of her hand.  She rubbed at her hand as she walked along the flowers.  She still couldn't find anything getting a little impatient she reached down and plucked at a plant willy nilly.  She freaked out and threw whatever it was that she just picked up as far away as possible.  She didn't know what she had picked up but it defiantly was not a plant.  Or at least not a plant that she wanted.  She sat there in defeat not sure about what to do next. She flopped on the ground hidden by the flowers and crawled around looking for more plants.  She was losing hope of finding any more that would work out for her.  Her face full of sheer determination she continued looking.

While Esmeralda crawled around full of determination.  She found a few that looked close but she decided to steer away from that section and try a new area.  She slowly crawled around so focused on getting a decent plant that she forgot that she was crawling.  However, at this point she did not care, all she wanted was a plant that would work as sinew.  Then in the middle of the new patch was a plant that seemed to stand out from the rest.  She quickly crawled over and put her hand around it picking it up.  This one was a little tough to pull out but not difficult.  She looked at the plant, it was green and looked perfect.  Overjoyed she almost forgot that she was in the middle of a dangerous area and not the starting city and almost jumped up and shouted cheers of joy.  She looked for even more with a renewed since of determination.

Esmeralda looked and looked.  Even though she found two of them she was having trouble finding more.  She kept looking only to find nothing.  Finally she found something.  It looked skeptical but she was sure it was just a trick of the light.  Light does that sometimes.  She picked it up and was about to approve of it when it fell apart.  Right in her hands it crumbled like dust and with it went some of her hopes.  Why was she having such a difficult time finding them she wondered.  Then she gave herself a quick pep tap on the forehead and continued looking.  She was going to find them all whether or not she has to spend all night out here with the flowers.  She liked the outdoors anyway so its not like it was that much of a loss.  Plus finding the one a few minutes ago kept her motivated.

Esmeralda was walking very slowly and carefully so as not to ruin her chances with finding the plant.  When all of a sudden she found one.  She could not believe it, it was almost too good to be true.  She reached down to pull it out.  She tugged very hard.  It almost seemed like it was attached to something.  She pulled harder and harder until at last she discovered that it wasn't a plant, well it was a plant but not the right kind or the right kind of a situation.  Not only had she not found the right plant but now she staring at a boar.  

 

The boar looked at her and took a half hearted swing at Esmeralda that missed.  Esmeralda was shocked but figured the best option would be too fight back.  She pulled out her dagger and sliced at the boars face hitting and leaving a mark making her feel very successful.

The boar shook its head.  The hit Esmeralda landed seemed to accomplice nothing but make the boar more angry.  The boar swung its head at her but the hit she landed earlier must have messed with its vision because it missed her and hit the flowers and plants next to her with a quick but clumsy movement.

Esmeralda watched the attack miss.  She was sad about the earlier failure with collecting the plant.  She could not let something like that distract her though.  Not in the middle of a battle.  She quickly took another swipe at the boar landing another hit on the side of its head causing the boar the rear back in pain.  She laughed a little starting to enjoy this, it was a nice change of pace from all the searching she had done earlier.  She watched the boar and got ready for him/her to attack again.

The boar made a loud noise and prompted another attack at Esmeralda.  However, on the way down from it rear, instead of hitting her it simply stopped in front of her and dug at the ground.  Almost as if she was just a pesky gnat that was bumping into him.  

 

Esmeralda was not about to let this boar ignore her.  With one final rush she ran in and stabbed her dagger into the top of his head in a really quick but nice and efficient motion.  The boar let out a little squeal and then it was all over.  Esmeralda had won.  This overjoyed her and she almost forgot to look for a tusk that would be useful.  However, to her dismay this boar had no tusks, at least not any that were useful. She was a little angry but hey she had fun.

Esmeralda was all excited from her victory.  She happily resumed her search for the plants.  She was growing impatient though, she hadnt found any for a while and was starting to doubt that she would be able to find the rest.  It was starting to get dark out and her luck was looking even more dismal than ever.  She was starting to grow a grudge against this search and collect quest.  She wondered if it was even going to be worth it in the end after she found all of them.  As long as she did not pick out another boar by accident it should all work out.  Not like that would happen again she laughed to herself.  She saw another plant.  This time she looked about the area and seeing no boars she grabbed the plant.  In her haste she accidentally ripped the plant apart causing it to be worthless.

She stared sadly at the broken plant in her hand not noticing that half of it had fallen from her hand and onto the ground.  She searched around herself looking for another plant.  She was getting desperate "any plant would do just one any one" she said sadly.  Then she noticed it.  Right at her feet was a plant.  She reached down and grabbed.  Her spirits high and hopes even higher.  This is it she thought this is finally the plant I need she told herself happily.  Then upon closer inspection she realized that this was the exact same plant she had found earlier.  She had picked up the other half that broke and fell.  It wasnt a new plant, but the same old useless plant. She was sad almost to point where she would have cried.

She got up trying to scrap what was still together of her saneness from looking for these darned plants.  Not only was she sad now but she was angry.  She wasnt even paying attention to where she was going when she saw one.  Another plant.  How silly she thought, plants are everywhere. She walked toward not realizing in her rage that she had kicked a boar that was sleeping by accident. The boar now wide awake attacked her but missed still being tired still.

Esmeralda was caught completely off guard by the boar and when it tried to attack her she retaliated with a sad swipe that missed the boar completely.  She couldn't even get to the plant that she needed much less fight a boar right now.

The boar looked right at her.  As if it was trying to stare into her soul and then walked right past her.  Having tried to hit and miss it decided to go back to sleep paying the girl no mind.  It must have thought that there was no point in fighting her vs taking a mid afternoon nap. 

Esmeralda could not let this happen.  She was so enraged about not being able to find any plants besides 2 that she hit the boar as hard as she could with her dagger when the boar was walking by.  She hit harder than she thought that she would or even could causing the boar to knocked sideways a bit because of the fact that she hit the boar in the side leaving a large gash. Then Esmeralda noticed that she had leveled.

The boar turned around in a quick swift motion.  Esmeralda had no time to reach at all when the boar hit her in the leg. The boar seemed happy to hit this girl this time.  The girl now had the boars full attention.  The boar seemed to angry at her due to the large gash she left in its side.  Causing the boar to hit her harder than it probably would have before.

 

The hit hurt her more than she thought it would and she found that her reflexes were lacking because of that.  When she swung to hit the boar she missed by what seemed like a mile and almost hit herself.  She was shocked that she did so poorly a few seconds ago she had just left a large gash on the side of the boar.  It seemed like the roles were reversing but she couldn't let this happen.  Not yet someone was going to die and Esmeralda knew that it wouldn't be herself.

The boar stood there.  Panting as well as a boar could.  The cut on its side slowly wearing it down.  It moved to attack her again seeing that her attack missed it.  The boar missed her as well with its attack by swinging its head.  It didn't hit anything it just kind of swung through air creating useless noise and a nice little wind.

 

Esmeralda saw it, her chance for a hit.  However, when she went to attack it she stumbled a little bit not enough to knock her off her feet but enough to cause her attack too miss once again.  She was saddened by this but at least she didn't get hit like that last time. She wanted this battle to be over with already.

The boar seemed to be sizing her up this time.  When it ran to attack her it hit.  Knocking her back away from it a little bit.  Not enough to actually do anything but enough to get her guard up and the boar noticed this.

 

Esmeralda freaked out when the boar got a hit on her.  This time it still hurt but as not as badly as the one earlier did.  She jumped toward the boar swinging her dagger in front of her and shouting widely hoping to gosh that she would freak the boar out or even better kill it.  Then it happened. She killed it, she was overjoyed.  She looked at the boar hoping to god that it would have a tusk she could take.  It did; it had a horn that she could take from it.  Seizing the chance she took the horn and stashed it with the other two plants that she had.

Esmeralda hopped along the flowers she had killed 2 boars and got a tusk from it.  She was beyond excited.  Now all that was left was to collect the rest of the rest of the plants.  She only had three left only three.  She kept repeating this to herself.  Not wanting to lose hope of finding them all and getting this over with.  Then she reached down and picked up a plant that she thought would work.  To her surprise it actually did work.  She had now found another one.  It was looking up to her she was starting to earn back everything that she needed.  But she could not become side tracked just yet.  She must find the other two plants remaining her work wont be done until she finds those.
