[sP-F1] Hunting is Just Another Sport, Right?

Recommended Posts

After the interesting experience in the city, Travian thought it might be best to go hunting. After all, hunting was a sport in real life, Travian enjoyed sports. Seemed like a good fit, all in all.

Garbed in nothing more than his starter cloth clothes and a warhammer hefted onto his shoulder, he made his way out into the grassy hills. He could see plenty of other new players running around beating up on this animal or that animal, and as much as Trav wished to join them, he thought it would be best to be on his own for a little bit.

Looking around, Trav saw a boar that hadn't yet been locked in combat with another player, and began to walk towards it, hardly in any sort of a rush. As Trav began to get closer, the boar stopped digging its nose into the ground, sniffing out for food and looked up at him with beady eyes. The two watched each other as Trav approached, each taking a bit of a cautious stance. Finally Trav was standing only a few feet away from the animal, and the boar seemed unsure of how to regard the man standing before it.

"Are you ready?" Trav was asking, more for himself than for the boar. The boar just huffed a response, as Trav readied his weapon. "Then let's play!"

Travian vs. Boar

  • ID# 29346
  • BD: 1 (Critical Failure)
  • MD: 7 (Success)
  • Travian HP: 5/5 -> 4/5
  • Boar HP: 3/3

Travian lunged forward at the boar, only to realize that his hammer wasn't exactly a light weapon, despite only being one handed. It only makes sense that a square chunk of metal lodged on the end of a stick would be a hefty weapon to throw around. In light of this, Trav's aim was completely off, winding up with him almost leaping entirely over the boar, and slamming his hammer into the ground behind it. He tried to recover and do a forward roll, and managed to get himself on one knee and turn around to face the boar, only to find its back leg poised to strike. Travian promptly received a hoof to the chest and fell backwards, grasping his chest in pain.

Travian vs. Boar

  • ID# 29350
  • BD: 5 (Failure)
  • MD: 9 (Critical Success) +1 DMG
  • Travian HP: 4/5 -> 2/5
  • Boar HP: 3/3

Travian wasn't off to the best start, but he had faith in himself. He saw the boar turning to face him, after the back kick, and Trav thought he might take this chance to try to surprise the boar. He rolled to the side, and twisted his body to place himself on one knee again, before bringing his hammer around and leaping forward off the ground and into the air to bring the hammer down on the boar. Nobody was home though, as the boar easily side stepped the leap and Trav's hammer crashed into the ground next to it. The boar seemed to be having none of this, as it promptly shoved a tusk into Trav's side, seriously wounding him. Trav cried out in pain and held a hand over the wound, as he watched blood pour out of it, staggering back but still managing to keep his feet.

Travian vs. Boar

  • Boar HP: 3/3 -> 1/3

Travian stood a bit shaky on his feed, but he still managed to heft his hammer into a ready combat stance. Not one to back down, he rushed forward at the boar, swinging his hammer into an upward swing at the boar's head, and he managed to actually make a connection, as the boar's tusks rushed forward to meet him. One of the boar's tusks managed to scrape across Trav's chest, slicing it open, but in response Trav managed to shatter the other tusk with his hammer, sending the boar backwards. Trav stumbled to the side, bloody, but still alive. He stared at the boar, his shattered tusk shoved partially into its bleeding mouth. Trav knew it was now all or nothing.

Travian vs. Boar

  • ID# 29354
  • BD: 5 (Failure)
  • MD: 10 (Critical Success) +2 DMG
  • Travian HP: 1/5 -> -2/5
  • Boar HP: 1/3

Travian rushed forward. He wouldn't die, not now. Even if this was just a dream. He had meant to bring the hammer down on the boar's head. He had meant to shatter the boar's skull with one swift downward smash. He had meant to.

Suddenly, Trav's world was a flash of blinding pain. A red, sharp tusk was now sticking out of his back. Trav slowly looked down, hammer held high over his head. It took his brain a very long time to realize that the boar had shoved his remaining tusk entirely through his chest. The hammer slowly slipped from his grasp, as his arms fell to his side. His body grew weak, only supported by the boar now, who promptly realized that his opponent had been defeated, and pulled the red, bloody tusk from the man's chest. Trav fell forward, his arms unable to catch him, despite that he had tried, as he fell face first into the dirt, his entire body limp.

This is just a dream. Trav thought to himself. This is just a horrible nightmare. I'm going to die here in this game, and wake up. Life will go back to normal. I can forget about games and become the professional sports player my dad always wanted me to be. I can... Trav's final thoughts faded into nothingness, as he realized that he was crying.

Trav never woke up from his nightmare.
