Profile
Username: Rawk_Hawk
Real name: Richard Grimes
Age:25
Gender: Male
Height: 6;1
Physical Description: Whilst not of an obese build, it is safe to say that Richard was overweight before entering the world of Sao, noticeably so. Richard was making an effort to better his physical condition, as he was in no way in a "healthy". He was trapped in Sao halfway through this process, and had managed to develop some muscle underneath the flab. His hair is a dirty blond, and his bloodline can be traced down to so many nations in England that it's not even worth the effort. A jolly smile comprises his usual countenance, sometimes forced, sometimes not. He made a habit of shaving in the real world, and fortunately for him, not a hair could be found on his face on that fatal day. His hair is combed in the usual way, and nothing is remarkable about its style. Vaguely opaque freckles are dotted about his face, which is not as puffy as some of you are certain to imagine. It is safe to say that almost every feature of his is unremarkable, and, were it not for his size, it would be hard to distinguish Richard from another passerby.

Gear Description: Brown harem pants who don't droop to obnoxious levels, a dark green vest with brown sleeves, a belt with a gold buckle (mostly for decoration), and a straw hat (for when it gets hot). His spear's shaft is made of the usual color, brown, and is considerably sturdy consider it being a basic weapon. Rugged red cloth is wrapped around the point where shaft and blade meet, and it is safe to assume that this was a home-made addition. The spear usually finds it's place fastened to the holster on his back, as he'd rather feel the weight of it on his back than carry it in some pocket dimension.

About: History/personality

Richard was born in good ole' USA, New York City to be exact. The single child of a loving family whose care and adoration summarize their relevance to Richards development. The notion of his being valuable was instilled within him at a very young age. He was encouraged to be extroverted, curious, and thoughtful; he received the encouragement readily. His life was headed in a very different destination than where it ended up, and the derailing moment wasn't really a moment, but rather, an experience. Some time early on into his school career, an otherwise inconsequential blunder that even Richard can't remember to this day labeled him as the "runt" of the class, so to speak. Whilst trivial, his peers wasted no expense in using it as an excuse to tease Richard, in short, the classic childhood "cruelty". To the young Richard, this was all in good spirit, as, to him, that would be the only reasonable explanation, so he merely nodded his head and laughed with the others, thus laying the foundations for the rest of his school life. The cause for the mockery was forgotten, but the habit was not, and as he progressed through the grades he only became more and more isolated from his peers because of it. He didn't know what he could do, he was a lover, not a fighter. It was not to say he didn't have his own crew of friends, but even they enjoyed his company for the "clumsy oaf" reputation he had left behind, rather than the person behind it, and Richard knew it.

A feeling of loneliness pursued him throughout his early life, and whilst his parents would've provided him some form of solace if they'd known, he absolutely refused to tell them of his misfortune. The idea of them knowing that he was the subject of mockery frightened him, so, he resorted to the last form of comfort he could find, books. He read all sorts of books, and was an advanced reader; if there was one thing he prided himself in, it was his grades. His fascination with the stories of others, fictional or not, eventually attracted him to the video games, and shortly thereafter, the Internet. Before long, he was well versed in the going on's of the web, which was the primary source of his comfort. At this point, he was effectively a social inadequate, ill versed in communicating with others due to his being denied the capability to do so on a normal basis for so long; either his budding inadequacy getting in the way, or the aforementioned "cruelty". However, he still enjoyed the company of other, he simply didn't know what to do with it. It was in this state that he graduated from high school, going on to college with a general idea of what he wanted to do. His good grades hadn't faltered over time, as he had been taught to manage himself properly, and could balance between his work and his "play". He soon learned that a "general idea" wasn't a enough to follow, and out of fear of wasting family money, he left college once the semester was up. 22, near penniless, and without the slightest clue of where he was headed, Richard moved in with his parents and started taking odd jobs to make by (he refused to let them house him for free, despite their insistence). He kept with his studies, out of the fear of his mind growing dull, using online schools for a majority of his learning. On his free time, he continued his hobby of gaming, falling into the niche of RPG's, a genre that was cemented as his favorite thanks to the Thousand Year Door being one of his first, and favorite games.

Naturally, his interest was piqued when the release of SAO was announced. Unfortunately, he was far from possessing the funds to even purchase the necessary equipment for the game, let alone play it. However, as luck would have it, he found an amazing deal for not only the game, but also the headset thing, whose name I forgot, whilst absentmindedly scrolling through Amazon. He couldn't believe his eyes, this was the perfect opportunity to buy low and sell high. Naturally, the gods were on his side (as long as the motives of the two aligned, that is), and he managed to nab the prize. Richard wanted to ride on the hype as much as he could, so as soon as he'd made the purchase, he was already preparing to sell the thing. He received his package a day before the fateful day, and unwrapped it to check the goods on the next. Curiosity got the best of him, and before long, he was making an account.

The story behind "Rawk_Hawk" is a simple one, all the usernames Richard could think of were either taken, or somehow conflicted with the system. Realizing that his name probably didn't mater (because he still intended to sell it, after all), he went for a silly name, "Rawk_Hawk", the name of a wrestler in one of his first games, and one of his favorite characters at that. Lo and behold, the name worked, and thus, "Rawk_Hawk" was born.

He reacted to the "disaster" as any other death-fearing person would, by hiding. He knew he was the farthest thing from an expert on MMO's, and venturing into a strange land didn't seem appealing to him. He, along with the many others who tried their best to avoid trouble were provided for by guilds formed to look the hide-away's, disabled(there were quite a few children whom no-one wanted to shove into the fray), and cowards; for a while, he lived comfortably. Time passed, and eventually, he had enough of it, he had to do something, anything. Richard decided the best move would be to stay true to the character, Rawk Hawk. The best way honor the hawk, he figured, would be to take up the good ole' fisticuffs; Richard knew there was a way to access unarmed combat, and he doubted the journey to it would be far too dangerous for somebody of his skill level. Thus, Richard left the safety of city walls and struck out on his own, with only the clothing on his back (if it could be even called as such, remember, he modeled his character after the Hawk), a spear, and the advice of a few friendly players; surely not a catastrophe in the making.

Virtues:

(original virtues, do not fairy)
(Also, I loathe these sorts of things, so expect each of these traits to be the foundation to my description of the char, rather than the latter being the foundation of the former.)

Earnest- Richard not only works smart, but works hard, and with dedication. When he has his mind set to task he will do his best to go through with it. This is not to say he'll push himself to unreasonable straights, he does work "smart" after all, but he wont give up easily. Even when every angle he can imagine is expired, he'll keep on searching for another way through. Naturally, this can be at his own detriment as well, but I see these categories as I do Ying and Yang. Richard developed this part of his ego early on his life, and his father made a point to reinforce it. Richard feels as if an incomplete job is a saddening sight, assuming there was at least some form of dedication invested in it. Because of this belief, he feels guilty over the fact that he still has no true direction to which he's headed in life. He has made the assumption that he will escape Sao, and still thinks frequently about the real world, hence the guilt.

Cautious- Richard learned, or was forced to learn early on in his life that caution was key, as most that are at the bottom of the food chain do. He is extremely sensitive to the emotions of others thanks to the constant attempts to connect with another person outside of his small family, someone he can relate to. His cautionary nature drives him to try and keep an eye on everything, and usually leads to his trying to take the safer route. Of course, even worms will turn, that is an obvious, and he is capable of working under pressure. However, he prefers not to resort to such options, and is considerably nervous when plunging himself into the great unknown. Even when armed, he acknowledges his own frailty.

Friendly- Richard, as you're probably aware of, enjoys the company of others. Even if he's incapable of effectively holding much farther than the quick conversation. He is more than willing to party up with anyone, even if most of their time is spent in silence. Once again, he is sensitive to the emotions of others, and usually tries to cater to their person to the best of his power. His friendliness often conflicts with his caution, as he is quick to suspect, and rarely forgets. At this point, it should be obvious why he's like this.

Flaws:

Loneliness- Whilst he is quick to embrace company, he's slow to find it, leading his spending most of his time on the road solo. He has contemplated joining a guild, but could never decide on which guild would be the best for him. It wouldn't matter either way, as even if he was in one, he'd spend most of his time solo. On the bright side, this helps develop his independence, as, despite his being capable, the shove was never there to push him on his own-even in his collage years, he'd found room-mates out of necessity. Regardless, for all its positives, solitude isn't enjoyable.

Timid- By extension of his caution, Richard is timid. In his eyes, anything is a potential cause of concern, even moreso considering the Sao world. He has a rather pessimistic outlook on the world, despite his trying to be optimistic. This gets in the way when he is put in situations where he might stand to gain from a tad of risk taking. He is aware of his timid nature, and actively tries to stuff it down, but can never do so 100% successfully.

(Sue me, I stole from the derkworld)
Skeptical- He tends to devalue the opinions of others thanks to the contrasting views of himself provided by his parents and peers respectively. The young Richard was confused by the polarizing opinions, and soon grew to only rely on himself for accurate analysis. This habit was reinforced by repetition, his reading, and over all solitude.
