[SP - F1] In Memoriam

Starting out from one of the gates around the town of beginnings, Zeke had no other goal on his mind other than the to go out and finally kill something. It had been forever since the fishing fiasco, and he had finally gotten up the nerve to give his days meaning again. In the back of his mind, a slight feeling kept trying to creep back up, but he had gotten used to it by now. Assuming whatever sun he could get, it would help him forget about the ill-felt thought for the time being. The breeze was pleasant today, and Zeke had begun feeling the wind pass through his new appearance. In what would surprise any of the people that knew him well enough, he had ditched the coat he wore for so long, leaving it hidden within his inventory along with the cursed fishing rod. There was the time he had ridden himself of his old scarf, so maybe someone could've expected this from him; shedding more past events like an old skin to try and fulfill the insatiable lust inside of him; it kept calling out for him to change himself, but the stubborn mentality of the male would continuously have him revert himself back into what he thought was truly best.

In a way, he was glad he would be out on the first floor again today, this way no one could see the somewhat embarrassing style he was displaying atop his body. The all-cloth ensemble was a very boring and casual tan and brown; the sleeves of the long-sleeve v-neck shirt were cut a little shorter than normal shirts of the same sleeve length, hanging higher than even the wrists to stop at around three inches from the wrist itself. Also, as if the shirt was sewn together without a second thought towards quality, two patches of cloth around the elbows appeared to be sewn onto the rest of the material after it had been finished; both of the patches were a much darker brown than the tan that gave life to every other part of the shirt, and could also be found on the designated areas of the knees when looking at the matching pants, or the shoulders of the same top. It was someone's sick idea to make clothes match by them looking to be handcrafted from some inanimate object. At least the footwear was nice, and probably his favorite part, since they were practically without design, and didn't require tying. Both shoes were as dark-brown as the patches on the knees, shoulders and elbows, and were closely related in appearance to a pair of men's native-american footwear.

Now, getting down to the nitty-gritty, Zeke searched for what had originally ventured out for: a fight. It wouldn't be hard to find some boars that were all the rage when it came to grinding, so a small trek over a few hills would reveal a green expanse full of the easy-to-kill mob. The only problem was that they were all grouped together closely, so the choosing of which one would take a few minutes before the player would actually decide on something.

"Gotcha." Materializing his curved-sword, the player ran down from the hilltop that he was standing on, and stopped dead-short of one boar that was off on its own near some trees. With the shade and surrounding forest, it wasn't likely any of the other animals would come his way while fighting. Zeke wasn't sure if he really could aggro boars, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

He had planned for him to get the sneak attack on the thing, but as luck would have in store for him, the boar spotted him on the turn around. It was now or never as the player ran forward to do his most basic Sword Art: Reaver. Unfortunately for the newly changed rebel, his Sword Art failed to activate because of a very simple principle: He didn't motion out the movement of the required attack. Instead of a vertical slash, his slash was diagonal. With the skill not taking effect as it should have, he dashed to the right and out of the way of the boar's charge. Not surprised to say, he was a little caught off-guard.

"What in the heck?" He checked the description of it within his menu and realized his mistake. "Really? So picky and technical. But at least I didn't get hit, either." He readied his blade in a loose fashion for the animal to run into once more. (Remember, vertical cut, vertical cut.) Zeke charged towards the enemy in the same fashion as it was doing. While Zeke had managed to pull off his glowing-sword-thingy, the damage was done to him as well. The boar charged on with a full head of steam while Zeke was hit in the leg and twisted around to fall onto his back.

"Man, that could've at least let me stay on my feet." He groaned while he pulled his body up off of the grass, feeling an adrenaline rush as a result of the excitement that he hardly ever got to feel in the game. (I think I might start doing this more often.) He thought, and prepared for another showdown with the "bull". "Okay, a couple more times of using it and I think I can get the hang of the first Art." He spoke softly when saying this.

Whether or not this boar could tell that it was much more at risk of dying or not, the enemy changed its tactic, and instead walked closer slowly toward Zeke. The menacing color of red in its eyes only gave further evidence to the idea that the beast was related to a bull in some way. Once the creature was close enough, it charged towards the leg of the player that it had hit before, probably trying to take that leg out so its attacks would be easier to land, given the target wouldn't be able to move around as much.

"Oh no you don't!" Zeke exclaimed loudly so that the charging mob could hear him clearly. The boar kept charging anyway and went straight for the intended leg. When Zeke hopped over to the right of the boar's charge, the enemy turned as well and went for the leg that was not originally planned to be hit. And even though limb damage didn't cause any lasting hindrances to the victim, the boar had succeeded in making the player flip over onto his backside while falling.

With a heavy sigh, Zeke stared up at the clouds without a care of where the boar was, or what it was doing. The sky just helped calm himself down before getting up to see the less appealing view of the boar charging back after him. In Zeke's mind, everything in his mind felt numb, and no conscious effort was made to help him achieve the dodge he was just about to pull off. Just like he had done in a previous fight with three other people, Zeke waited for the enemy to get close enough before placing his hand onto the back of it and helping himself push off over to the side of the creature's meaty body. Since the boar kept going, the player had to chase after, but with the little bit of extra hard work, he would be able to get an attack in before the animal turned around.

"Mother f#$%er!" He was understandably upset at his miss and the fact that the boar had stuck him in the leg with a tusk. After a few hops backwards onto his feet, the distance between the two adversaries was enough for the player to check his health. "Almost half... I take back what I said about doing this more often..." He sighed once more at what he felt was complete bull#$%.

If he was going to die, he would rather it be quick and eventful than to just sit around and wonder what if. With the haste to get it all over with, he went ballistic with his curved sword and just ran straight back into the fray. The blade ended up colliding with one of the enemy's tusks, but this was something to keep in mind, for the stalling of the creature's speed had given the player enough time to read his movement before the enemy would be able to gain the momentum needed to charge.

Pushing down as hard as he could on the rusk, the blade slid off with a scraping sound and lead Zeke's arm and following body over to the right side, the boar had still not recovered just yet from what had happened, but Zeke twisted around with the momentum of his swing and slid the curved-sword upward against the face of the boar. In a fit of reaction to the hit, the boar thrashed about with its tusks and knocked the player's sword-arm back.

Looking to roll the dice of his fate, Zeke ran away from the boar in front of him and wanted to lead it into the trees of the nearby forest that resided on the eastern side of the battlefield. The original fight existed to the west of the trees that belonged to this forest, but once it was dragged in there, there would be a chance that the cover given by the trees there would either prove as something helpful, or as something that would get him hit from behind.

(Keep your eyes on it and you won't have to worry about it coming up from behind you.) Zeke told himself that mental note, knowing full well that the cards had to be played just right for the new strategy to have any positive effects on his outcome. Preventing an untimely demise was important here, as there was a frighteningly close difference between the health points of each combatant. Looking to further separate who had a bigger chance of winning, the brown-haired male kept look out from behind one of the trees, waiting for the pig to come barreling around the corner so that a Sword Art could be inflicted upon its face.

Once again, the ill-winds of his destiny were starting to pick up, almost blowing him off of his feet with the full thrust that came with boar's upward thrust as it charged around to exactly where the player laid in wait. It had seen what was prepared to happen to itself and thwarted the plan by unexpectedly knowing that the player was oblivious to its intelligence thus far. While most of the two tusks impact was pushed against the blade of Zeke's sword, the curvature allowed the shape to give away room for the left tusk to slide behind the opening and head right into the face of the opponent.

If at least one good thing would come out of the attack to his face, Zeke was willing to take it, even if that one good thing happened to be him fall backward from the attack and slamming his back against the length of a tree. From the hit came opportunity, Zeke was able to notice, who readily aimed his next Sword Art attempt at the boar. He really wished he had more than one Sword Art to use against a single opponent, bit he knew that if he could survive this battle, there would be a day soon where he would have more options available to him.

After the clash of another attempt, Zeke fell to the ground with his sword on the grass next to him. The boar was too much, and was about to be the killer of one player. All hope was gone, he had gotten the short end of the stick so many times in a row, there was something wanting him to die, and it was only fitting that he did die anyway, like those he felt he had lost. Knowing in his heart that they were dead as well, and that he would never get to see them again.

In what would be his last effort to survive, Zeke stood up as fast as he could and emptied his mind for what would most likely be his last moments on Aincrad. "Should I die without any reason, so too shall you claim what was rightfully yours all along..." As the boar came charging forward, the glow of his sword began to show as he had gotten into the upward swinging position.

With the last point of energy gifted to him through the regeneration feature, Zeke managed to save his own life with one more fatal swing of his Reaver ability. The boar squealed and stopped charging immediately. Falling onto its tummy, the creature began to vanish into the pixels that Zeke was oh-so used to by now.
