[PP - F2] Zeke and Asami take Urbus

Recommended Posts

The ground of Urbus currently held the weight of Zeke's steps as he made his way down through one of the brick paved streets. They used to be filled with beginning players, he remembered and sighed with a bit of longing in his heart for that time to come back once more. He had been here with everyone else, so hopeful in all of what he was going to accomplish, despite the death penalty. Now, he was just some over-leveled beginner that sought his own way of finding a path forward, trying to get as strong as those he had to watch strut around like peacocks in their overly priced, shiny armor. Those high-leveled player still found the time to come back to the Town of Beginnings to stock up on what they needed, because they knew that by just being there, they were like some kind of heroes. Their courage or cowardice showed in their ability to stay alive, and in jealousy, Zeke hated them for it. He wanted to be the peacock for a change. (Wait, why am I thinking of peacocks? Just shut up and look for something to do, you lazy arse.)

The road seemed to go on forever and ever, leading him through half of the town itself. Eventually though, something had struck him as odd when he happened across a shady looking NPC that sat on a blanket next the wall of a building. Every other NPC was moving about like usual players would, doing things to pass the time until they were reset for the next day. This specific NPC just sat there, though. It was the least attention grabbing display of the game's A.I. he had ever seen, but the dark and mysterious vibe the person gave off was enough to make him approach the character anyway. "So, what do you do?" The character looked up towards the voice that had sounded for him, the look in his maroon eyes were giving the sense that he did not want to be disturbed. The character also wore an oxford-blue bandage wrap around his head, the ends of the bandage hanging around his neck and over the shoulders until it fell down to his chest; the wrapping was much more torn at the end where it hung freely, leaving the bandage to easily be loosened from around the scalp of this person.

Through a spiky, dark-brown beard, the man replied with a voice that could be attributed to the likeness of any random creep, but with a wheezing that gave him the the aura of a deathly ill patient that struggled just to sit up straight. "You're going to find out in due time. The best things in life always come when you least expect them." Even if the person wheezed deeply, there were no signs of struggle in the way that they spoke their sentences. He reaches his hand back behind him, hiding his entire arm underneath the dark moss-green cloak that he wore over his normal merchant's clothing. When pulled back out, the man revealed a tiny, obsidian-based instrument of some kind; along it's length, four tiny holes aligned themselves down the dead center for what seemed to mimic the idea of a flute. Hope itself was needed to wonder who could play using such a tiny piece of rock.

"This is yours, take it for yourself. It's of no charge... but just make sure you keep it in mind, boy." The sinister looking merchant placed the item in the player's coat pocket before he could have the time to decide upon accepting the gift. "They're heading this way now. No matter what you do, the fates have tied you two together for this task. The price for failure is the death of whomever you both shall decide upon." With a raspy chuckle, the NPC closed his eyes and went completely quiet after the laughter faded into the streets. "I bet you just pulled that out from off of the blanket behind you, didn't you?" When he had finally realized after a few minutes that his antagonizing questions weren't going to get him anywhere with the man, Zeke sat down beside him and imitated the exact same position that he was sitting in. Silently, they both sat there like statues until the one Zeke awaited actually showed up. He wasn't expecting anything, but the game had managed to prove him speechless before. So, he just tried to keep his eyes from blinking as best he could, in an attempt to scare the person he supposedly needed to meet.
