[SP-F1] <<Earning A Living>> A Man and His Pole (COMPLETE)

Recommended Posts

Lee sat himself down in front of the pile of wood and lumber and crossed his legs the best he could given his current equipment. He took in a deep breath and thought for more than a moment. Maybe he had passed the piece he needed and just simply did not notice it right off the bat. He would not take just a bit of time in order to accurately go through not each and every one but at least take a longer than glance look at what he could. The first one he picked up actually wasn't all that bad and thankfully it wasn't horrible. He would set the wood to his side as he would continue to search through the pieces.

It would seem that he had jinxed his own wishes. He picked up a stick that was similar, if not completely alike as the one he had found just prior to his last. His head would fall as he would throw the stick over his shoulder and take in a deep breath. How did people do this on so many occasions. What tricks or tips did they have that made it so easy or at least, better than his own. Piera complains about having to find materials, was this what she was complaining about? Lee would fall back and cover his face in his hands as he would yell into them, almost to a breaking point but not quite, he needed to let out just a bit of stress via his mouth.

After a bit more yelling to himself, he stood to his feet and began another walk, this time in a direction he had yet to go. He found that if one thing did not work, something different surely must do the trick. The only real question was 'what' would that different thing be and what trick much he do in order to achieve it? This is what boggled his mind to no end. He passed yet another pole of wood that failed to meet his expectations and so, he gave it little more than a passing glance before continuing on his magical hellish journey.

This area was starting to become quite the hassle and in turn, something he wasn't completely willing to do again. Though, he knew full well that that was only because of the current situation. He had already decided that he would be doing hunts more often in order to get materials to sell to others. He also knew that he needed to get some new equipment for such a thing. Something to help his chances in finding such things as he knew of such enchantments though he never figured he would need them. He glanced at a tree as a branch fell from the tree that he would leave it to its fate as it surely was not for him.

"Stuck in a limbo, here we go~ Me and my sins go toe to tooooe~" Lee would let the words come from his lips as he bobbed along. The song would simply come to his head out of the blue. He would let his head tilt from one side to the other in remembrance of the song. He was never one for singing due to the simple fact that he knew he couldn't or at least, anything that didn't require a deeper tone of voice. Which didn't leave him much but since he was seemingly by himself, he didn't have to worry about judgmental eyes. He figured he had to entertain himself one way or another with the useless amount of materials he was coming across. "I played a vicious part~"

He wondered just what other songs he missed from the real world that he had not heard in lord knows how long. He remembered his favorite band and snapped his fingers that he wouldn't be able to hear them again. It was actually quite a conundrum as he wanted to hear them though he wondered that if he ever got out of the game, would they still be around or possibly worse, would they have come out with bad new songs. It caused him to shutter just a bit as he remembered a once favored band that took the lesser route and ended up ruining themselves due to it. He would kick a stick that would be in his path of walking as he continued to think on the musical past.

Lee continued his search but at the very same time, was starting to see the usefulness of such a specific journey. It meant that he had to look for a longer amount of time, yes but he also was gathering materials for when he was done. Though, he had only collected two this entire time and didn't find a single one that even remotely would be deemed acceptable. That brought him down a bit in the long run as he really didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel or how someone could do this. While yes, he didn't really expect to excel in his profession, he also didn't want things to be this difficult at the same time.

Lee was starting to have doubts that he'd ever find what he was searching for, or if it even existed. Perhaps this was all some sick mind game that Kayaba Akihiko himself made up and he was simply another unfortunate victim. Well he'd show him! Lee wasn't one to give up, whether in the real world or a virtual one. With that happy thought in mind, the armored man continued along his set path, keeping his eyes peeled for anything and trying not to become disheartened when nothing came of it yet. Perseverence was key.

Lee continued his would be epic journey if there was just something about it that would be deemed epic. He placed a hand at his hip and the other to the back of his head, scratching it lightly. He never really liked the whole 'if i was this, where would i be' cliche' because it just didn't make any sense to him, like, at all. He would take in a deep breath and let it out all at once. It was just so frustrating. He was about to kick at the ground when something caught his eye just before he kicked. He blinked several times before he would lean forward slightly and squinting. He soon took off in a mad dash toward a tree and would only stop once his metal frame came into full contact with the tree.

Lee's eyes were sky bound or at least, looking upward into the tree, his hands shot up and took hold of the most spectacular piece of wood one could ever set eyes upon. It practically glowed. He took it in his hands and removed it, like one would pick up a newborn child. It felt as though anything done to it would surely cause it to break if treated anything less than delicately. He had found it. He had finally found the majestic wood of the gods.

Lee made a mad dash back to the town and thus, its safe zone interior. Once inside its walls, he became just a wee bit frantic as he had forgotten just where it was he was originally going to go and all of the jobs came flooding back into his mind and he had also forgotten about the location of the merchant. He stopped in the midst of a small crowd and looked from one way to another in a minor panic. He stopped in the midst the his looking and simply moved forward, if he could at least get himself to a clearer area, he would be able to find himself better.

Once he had gotten his bearings, he began a calmer search. He would begin by taking the back alleys though this was not the brightest idea as he found himself at many dead ends and across some shady individuals. He finally began to see notable buildings and finally, was able to find the merchant to which he would run to as if he would disappear if he didn't make it to him in time. Lee would finally come to a stop with an out stretched arm, the perfect branch in hand though the question came "What took ya so long?" Lee would raise his head and glare "I couldn't find the place." The merchant would blink several times "Ya ain't follow da quest mark'ah?" Lee would give way to pause and look to his map and sure enough, right in front of his cursor was the quest marker. "Just make the d@mn item." The merchant would laugh as he would take the wood and with a light tap, would create a full size cart. "Thar ya go. It ain't much but when ya set up shop, it'll do ya real good."

Lee was speechless, he figured that he would simply get a pat on the back and a 'good job' but this was so much more than that. He threw his hands into the air and then took in a deep breath. Without another word, he would walk away with his cart and a wide smile over his face.
