[SP-F2] Honey, I can't Beelieve it! What a Royal Disappointment! - Long Live The Queen [Complete!]

Recommended Posts

Today was going to be the day. Kalesh was going to prove to himself he wasn't a weakling, and what better way to do exactly that than to fight a field boss one-on-one? It was a little dangerous he figured, but he was going to prove himself at some point, and there was no time quite like the present. He had been checking the spawn patterns of monsters for days now, confirming where he could find the Queen Bee while also avoiding any obstacles between himself and her. The last thing he wanted was a random mob trying to interrupt and distracting him so the queen could kill him. There were a lot of things that could go wrong when you go on your own, so nothing was too minor for him to overlook. He took a long breath and started out of the safe zone of the capital and into the monster infested wilds where his prey would be.

Kalesh had been travelling on foot for a few hours now, going to a far away spawn point to ensure he had no company. He didn't want a PK sneaking up and finishing him off after or during the fight, and he definitely didn't want someone rushing in and stealing the glory or to try and assist him today. He was going to do this alone. Just him, and his scimitar. If he wasn't strong enough to fight this boss on his own, then he was too weak to really keep up with anyone so he took a deep breath as he neared the open area where the Queen was going to spawn. He figured she had either spawned somewhere else or was still on her timer, but either way, she was not here.

Kalesh drew his large scimitar from his back and rested the blunt side against his shoulder and neck, standing around and waiting for whatever would happen first. Right now there was a few circumstances for what would happen. Either she was on her respawn timer to appear here, or she was spawned elsewhere or about to spawn elsewhere... Either way, he was packed for the long run. He would wait here for days if he needed to. He moved to a nearby tree and climbed up into it in the hopes that the enemy wouldn't notice him right away if he was hidden, plus it was a relatively safe place to nap if it came to that. For the moment he left it in the system's hands how long it took, but he was going to be here and ready when it was time.

He rested up there in the tree for several hours, waiting for any sign that the boss was spawning. The hours ticked away until it was night time, sleep tugging at the corner of his mind as he laid there all safe and secure. Slowly he started to drift off into a fairly peaceful sleep. When the sun started to rise, it wasn't the light or him becoming rejuvenated that woke him, it was the sound of buzzing right next to his ear. With a shocked gasp Kalesh grabbed his sword and swung wildly, in his sleepy state expecting the boss had just spawned next to his ear! A moment later though he saw a normal sized bee falling to the ground, sliced and diced it would seem. Kalesh put his hand over where his heart was, taking a few breaths to calm himself from the shock of the moment. "That... was not cool, game." He sighed softly as sleep started to leave his mind.

Feeling refreshed from his sleep he looked out of the tree to see that the sun had risen. "That was a pretty good sleep I guess..." He chuckled, sure not many could sleep easy while out of a safezone. Taking a deep breath he jumps down from the tree and onto his feet, circling around the area while waiting for a respawn to occur. "So like a queen to be fashionably late" He idly mutters to himself while swinging his sword around like it was a thing to do. He had no worldly idea that him training with this weapon gave him the potential to unlock a new weapon. It wasn't guaranteed that the katana skill would even become available for everyone, and he didn't even know it had a connection to curved swords if he was honest.

While idly swinging his sword around in a mock-training he soon heard a loud buzz and he turned to see the queen of wasps buzzing around angrily. Kalesh knew the respawn window before aggro was not about to last long so he readied himself while eyeing the massive bug, taking a deep breath before the battle begun. It seemed that for one reason the queen hadn't noticed him, buzzing around harmlessly as he simply watched in surprise. He didn't know if it was a glitch or not but it gave him more time to mentally prepare.

Soon the queen noticed the intruder in it's area and looked at Kalesh as angrily as a bug could look without facial expressions, charging at the player and cutting Kalesh across his chest using one if it's sharp mandibles making him gasp in pain and surprise at it's speed despite its size. Kalesh moved to bash at the creature with a sword art before it could move away. Even with the accuracy of his eyepiece he felt as if the blow was about to miss so he shot his eyes wide, activating his concentration skill! For a moment it felt like the world was slowing down, and so Kalesh was able to land all four hilt bashes into the creature's abdomen, horribly damaging it to Kalesh's surprise. The damage that had been done to him wasn't a laughing matter, but it was still a surprise to see the difference in strength!

He watched as the bug charged him, this time with its stinger pushed out and ready to impale! He quickly side-stepped the attack, watching it barely slide past him as Kalesh raises his blade high. He realized he could land a powerful blow, and so he only sliced off a huge chunk of what remained in its HP, watching as it entered the reds and was left on the edge of death! Kalesh quickly jumped back before it could try for another attack when he was not ready, hoping his decision didn't come back to sting him in a bit.

This time Kalesh took the lead, charging at the bug and seeing if she could dodge, and it turned out she could! Just barely missing the blade with its large insectoid body before it stung out towards him, which the red haired player also managed to dodge past! Both virtual beings had missed the other and left them at a standstill as they backed away from eachother, Kalesh trying not to get annoyed at the creature for giving him more trouble, despite being fully aware the fault was his for trying to make this fight last longer, which was being a total success he could add.

He charged towards the wasp queen one more time, scimitar held at the ready to land the final blow as he closed the distance and the bee flew forward with its stinger pointing towards him! Kalesh had every plan of taking the stinger and offing the bee in one fell swoop!... Then he tripped. A rock pointing out of the dirt caused him to trip forward, landing right on his face as the wasp soared right over him, the NPC looking down as if trying to figure out where Kalesh had vanished too! Kalesh gasped and rolled onto his back, hopping back onto his legs with a blush stuck to his face from the mess up. He was not a big fan of what happened but as usual, reminded himself it was his fault.

The wasp did managed to track down Kalesh eventually, making him grit his teeth as he sees the creature buzz towards him. He didn't have time to dodge, let alone counter this time so he quickly lifted his blade in front of himself, his spare hand resting on the blade as the wasp's stringer hits against the blade, blocked and getting deflected to the side and past Kalesh as he corrects his stance for their next exchange! He felt a slight sense of pride from his quick thinking but doubted it would be reliable on stronger opponents. Those were thoughts for another time, he had something he had to kill first before he could fight said creatures!

Kalesh took a breath while looking at the wasp and centering himself mentally. The monster was not a threat, he convinced himself, the damage it did would never have a chance of killing him he repeated in his mind. When the wasp charged stinger-first at him he merely side stepped and slashed, the blade's swing combined with the incoming momentum cleaved the wasp's thorax deeply, barely not separating it from the abdomen. The creature was on its last leg, so to speak, while he was only slightly nicked. He was eternally happy he decided to armor himself before taking this fight!

The wasp's buzzing seemed to be weaker than before, as if being so close to death had left it wounded and that it really was on its last leg. He raised a brow as it charged at him and harmlessly skidded across the dirt passed him seeming too weak to even fly straight anymore. With a sigh of pity Kalesh put his foot on the bee to keep it still under him, lifted his scimitar high, and jabbed it down deep into the monster's body, moments later killing the creature and giving Kalesh his rewards. With that he smiled and sheathed his scimitar and looked over the results eagerly. It seemed he got a special venom as well as a material for his trouble! Not a terrible outcome in his opinion. This entire fight was to prove to himself he wasn't going to be a burden for others on the tougher fights, and rather an equal of sorts. He closed his rewards menus and happily tries to think about what he could do with his spare time.

Seeing how it would take him a while to get back to town he decided he'd do some gathering along the way. Because why not, really? It would never hurt to have some additional profit from his little venture into the wild! With that in mind he removes his Red Leather Jacket and instead equips his Tricking Clover in its place for the searching boost it would provide. He started by searching a nearby bush to see if it had berries, or maybe something underneath it but to no avail. As one might expect that even with the buff of the accessory now attached to the hilt of his sword he came up empty handed from his first attempt.

He merely shrugged his shoulders at his first failure, not feeling disheartened at all. If at first you don't succeed and all that! He next stop was by a nearby log, tilting his head to check inside the seemingly hollow hole. Seeing nothing skittering around he reached inside and pulled out what looked to be a mushroom! He chuckled as he tossed it into his inventory, sure it would be good for alchemy or fishing probably! Whatever he used it for he hoped it worked out and didn't end in his infinite failure. Fishing was proving to be quite the challenge of his patience and his supplies than anything else.

Kalesh started a mental tally of everything he had found. Two materials so far, that was good, he even had a venom he could use sometime. That would come immensely helpful he was sure, but not for a little while. That aside, he started scrounging around the area in search of a third material to add to his pile, but it was being elusive it seemed. About five minutes after he started searching he came to the conclusion "There aren't any in this little area.." and moved on further away from the wasp queen's spawnpoint and closer to the capital while his eyes scanned the ground.

While staring at the ground he started to hear a faint buzzing and so he started to raise his eyes, only to see a group of wasps angrily buzzing towards him. He raised a brow in realization that the large insects probably stalked the area whenever the queen spawned, but were wiped out the last time the queen had spawned which is why he didn't see them on the way over! He quickly draws his weapon, not particularly wanting to take any damage from the angry insects so he starts to charge a sword art while watching them close in. He watched and waited until all four were in range, finally triggering the sword art which guided him to spin three times very swiftly, making easy work of the wasps who were already dead by the second swing, watching the remains shatter apart and some nice new materials appear in his inventory. "Phew... That's always a tiring art, but the rewarding uses..." He grinned mischievously as he counted six total materials this run.

He needed a quick breather after that little encounter, taking a deeeep breath and moving to sit next to a tree, enjoying the shaded cool area and the light breeze. He relaxed there for several long minutes before he pushed himself up and back onto his feet. Getting a bit of his breath back he keeps walking towards the town. It was bad enough he slept in the field for one day, doing it this close to a populated area was an even worse idea in his mind, so he had to keep going rather than give into laziness and decide to just live like a wild-man for a while.

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me..." He had only just gotten his breath back when another swarm of wasp guardians decided to patrol into his path. He groaned as they aggroed him rather obviously and so he readied his sword art. He had barely enough energy left to wipe them out a second time before he would be totally drained. Once more, like the lemming drones they were, the flew right into the line of fire with their stings pointed forward, all of them sliced up by the triple-hitting sword art that left them nice and broken. It also served to further fill his material factory, but moments later he slunk to his knees and panted a bit as the sword art took its toll. He shook his head and pushed himself up off his knees using his sword, walking slowly to the town before more drones would come by, refusing to leave himself exposed to fighting more.

Despite the clear tired feeling going through his body from using up all of his energy, he forced his virtual body to run. He needed to get his body away from the wasps at the least or he'd be outnumbered and worn down. Kalesh had been running for about fifteen minutes before he tripped over something he hadn't exactly been looking out for, blinking down at the cause to find a... stone? He gives it a shove with his foot out of annoyance, which revealed the underside of it was iron. He shrugged and half-crawled to pick up the item and throw it into his inventory before pushing himself up and back into a run.
