[SP-F1] Soooo....Shiny <<Earning a living>> (alchemy)

I closed the door to astropherics shop. I had just went in to get some gloves that he said could help me in a quest i told him i was taking, i just needed to return them afterwards. So i began walking back through the trunk of the tree that was the market of the 8th floor. I needed to either go back to floor 1 and go to one of the many alchemist npcs i had seen or find one here. I wanted to become an alchemist as i wanted to make the potions for healing, no way i was gonna die, as well as the energy and teleport ones, and to top it off. I kept remembering the time azide had showed me his health crystal, the way it shined and how beautiful it was made me want to make my own. I know it was t the best reason to be an alchemist, that the crystals were pretty, but it was that or cooking and i just didnt feel like cooking, i used to in the real life and it was alright, but i was just feeling potions. I continued to walk up the trunk looking around at shop just incase i saw a shop that seemed like an alchemist one. I got close to the end before i finally saw one. Cina's chemistry creations the sing on the front said, on either side of the name was two crystals that looked like the ones azide had showed me, aside from the shine and glimmer of course. From the outside the building was shaped like a rectangle, standing up, like a crystal. Two doors in the front were glass allowing a slight peek inside, to a dimly lit entrance. I looked around, just to make sure this was the only one, as i wondered if there was a more... Welcoming one. But i didnt find one, so i began walking towards the doors, when i drew near i opened the doors and walked in.

I looked around and in the dmily lit room was a large rug taking up the space between the counter and doors. In the room were some shelves with what looked like fake potions and crystals, as well as some painting and posters of alchemists and other things dealing with alchemy, on the ground however were a couple of chairs, and in the middle of the room was the place holding the only light source, a small lamp on a desk. I looked around making sure i wasnt being watched as the room was really beggining to creep me out. I didnt see anything, not that it made me feel better, the room was so dimly lit i doubt i would have anyway. I walked up to the counter and waited for a second for someone to show up, no one did. So after about 5 minutes i leaned over and peeked around the area behind the counter, before leaning back and calling out in the room. "Hello is anyone her.." I began before a mysterious girl pops up from right behind the counter as if she was under it waiting. She does so very quickly and i jump backwards, clutching my chest as i felt as if i was going to pass out. She begins to speak not acknowlding me being scared of her surprise. " hello ma'am how may i help you" i looked at her quickly still waiting to pass out.

The women was taller than me, probably about 5'10 if i had to guess and was very skinny, but that wasnt what surprised me, no she had very messy curly air that was going everywhere, along with a weird robe that was very ruffled and brightly colored, and she had on big glasses which her big eyes peered through at you. (Think of those weird voodoo people from anymovie ever). I replied after my inspection, slightly cautious of the creepy lady, in the creepy building. "Uhm..i was just looking around for some help" i reply in a soft shaky voice. She smiled brightly before quickly replying " som help you say, well i sell many an item and can even take a custom order if u have something in mind" she says in a very bubbly tone. She was really outgoing and it was kind of scaring me, but i needed her fo my quest so id deal with it.  " no..no i dont need any items, i was just wondering if you could mentor me in becoming an alchemist" i reply shakily once again as i was still being rather cautious of the women. " hmm u want help..in becoming an alchemist huh, thats a first. But i guess i could do that if that what you wish" she replies, and i see a pop up. Earning a living quest accepted. I smile as it was great to finally begin this quest.

 After the pop up disappeared the women began speaking again. " well, i guess i should start by telling you about alchemy, even if you know i recommend you listen. Alchemy is the creation of any item that combines one chemical or other item, with another, to make a mixture that can help you or hurt an oponet, or even save your life. In alchemy there are two different section, one being potion, and another being crystals. Crystals are immediate and become consumed as soon as you use them, however potions have a slight delay before the ffect is taken. Now, why not always use crystals...well they are more expensive and take more experience to create. Meaning it may not always be better to create them. At first you will only be able to make potions, so that is what i will teach you. In order to do this however i will need a few things." The lady thought quickly before continuing " Ill need a glass battle of course to put the mixture into, as well as some newts eye, and... Some grinded pigs foot, and that should do the trick. All my items are in boxes back in the storage room. Just come back when you have found the needed items." The women finally quit speaking, and i was rather surprised. I didnt expect so much information, and now i had to go find some items int her storage rooms, itd be so much easier if she just did it as she knew where each was probably. But it was my quest afterall so i guess it makes sense i need to get the items

I nodded to her and went around the counter and back to the room labeled storage room. As i was opening the door i heard the npcs voice again " oh yeah, i forgot to put the labels back on the boxes so youll have to do some digging, woops" the lady says laughing at her mistake..or my misfortune. I was rather angered that now i had to look around extensively considering there were no labels for each item. And when i looked through the doorway, i only hated it even more. Because ahead of me were at least a hundred boxes, in columns that were 10 high, and like she said, had no labels. I knew i needed to begin as if i didnt i would be here for literally forever, and i had things to do. I wondered the best approach, not that it really mattered. Should i start from the top right and go down, then left then back, going by columns, or go by rows. I dont know.

I decided to start from the top right, and off I went. I looked at the first box and saw nothing...okay cmon now, nothing..really are a lot of these boxes gonna be filled with nothing, ill cry if they are. I checked the one under it, and it was filled with some weird ball shaped thing, I don't know I closed it quickly because the sight was rather discomforting, the third one down, also had nothing, and I almost cried.

I went through the next three boxes down as well and sadly didn't find what I needed, one was some weird foot looking things, and the other two were empty. So as for that there was a 66.6% chance to find something, let alone what I was actually looking for. And if it was going to take this many boxes to find each material I was looking for then I would definitely be here for a while, even now it'd be every 7 boxes id find one, not the best odds if I do say so myself.

I went to next box down and opened it, blackness, nothing. I went to the next one and opened it, glass bottles, some were even broken, lucky I didn't feel around to find out what it was. Next one down, I looked into it almost screamed, not because of what I saw, as it was nothing, but I realized I needed a glass bottle, I slam the empty box back into the shelf's, and grab the glass bottle one finding a bottle that wasn't broken, thank god I found one, maybe this wont be AS bad as I though it would be.

LD 1+2=3

I stored the glass bottle that I was oh so happy to see before walking to next column of boxes. This time I started from the bottom and worked my way up. The first box had nothing, but blackness. The second was filled with some weird dirt or something. And the third was filled with, I don't even know and I don't even want to. It was rather disturbing how weird some of these materials this lady owned were, and how unorganized she was. No way my shop would ever become like this, not under my ownership.

I went to the next box after shoving the third back into place. In the first was nothing, as I had been seeing to many times. The next was...nothing. I breathed in deeply, making sure to not slam it. I went to next one, and looked in, and saw nothing. I slammed the box immediately, as I was so annoyed this kept happening. I don't get how a shop could have so many empty boxes, when you could simply keep the space free, or fill them up.

I went to next box down and opened it, blackness, nothing. I went to the next one and opened it, newts eyes, many were squashed and splattered around the box. Next one down, I looked into it almost screamed, not because of what I saw, as it was nothing, but I realized I needed a newts eye as well, I slam the empty box back into the shelf's, and grab the glass bottle one finding a bottle that wasn't broken, That's two of the materials I needed, and it was ironic, every 8th box had a material I needed it seemed, but Id still go in order, just in case.

LD:17+2=19 (material found, final mat 3/3)

I searched in the next box, and found some pigs feet. I was happy but I remembered I needed it to be grinded. I looked deeper into the box though, at the end, was a plastic little bowl that had what I assumed were grinded pigs foot. I found all three materials, and now I just needed to return to the lady, and have her teach me the ways of alchemy outside of organization. Because clearly she doesn't know how to do it, I just wanted to gain my profession and start up a shop, to help people.

I looked in my inventory one more time just to make sure I had everything I needed. Yup it was all there, the bottle, the eye, and the grinded pigs feet. I closed my inventory and began to walk up the stairs back to where I hoped the lady was. As I was walking up the stairs I began to hope that these ingredient combinations weren't the only ways to make health potion, because I really did not want these items in my shop. Why couldn't it be something like a bottle carrots and wheat or some other normal item. Something that would stink up the shop if I didn't have it hidden away, but for now they didn't stink anyway so that was a bad reason. But I opened the door back into the main area of the shop and looked around.

I could not find the women as I was looking around. I looked under the counter from where she had been when she scared the poop out of me, but she wasn't there. I walked around a little bit checking every room, and looking in every spot a human could be, but she was nowhere to be found. It was weird that this lady would send me down to her storage room, and then not be here when I returned. Did she really like think I wasn't going to find them so quickly...that little. *sigh* I went to the counter to make sure she wasn't there again, before I decided to call out once again like I had when I first entered this ladies shop to gain my profession in the first place "HELLOO!!!"

"yes" I heard the voice behind me and did a 180 jumping backwards clutching my chest again as I had before when I saw it was the women. I breathed in and out deeply, Luckily I was good at controlling myself or I would have yelled at the lady quickly. "Wow you just love to pop-up when your needed don't you" The lady stared at me blankly as if I hadn't said anything at all, as if I wasn't even there. "Okay weird" I think. I stare at her for a seconds before continuing, she didn't seem like she was gonna talk any time soon so I might as well get this thing rolling. "Well, I found all the item you requested down in the storage." I hoped she wouldn't say she forgot one or something as I really didn't want to return to the room

"OHHHH good good then come with me now, you have the eye, bottle and feet right?" the lady says as she turns around and begins walking away from where we were standing. I think to myself Of course i have those, that's what you asked for isn't it, think im a dumb blonde, jeez But no way was I going to say that, the quicker I could get this over with the quicker I could leave, and an argument would not help me in that dream. "Yes I have them all right here" I materialize the three objects holding them in my hand, waiting for her to turn and take them or instruct me to do something with them myself. Hopefully it wouldn't be hard to make this potion, and id do it one attempt.

"Alright good, give them to me once we get to the room, so we can begin your training in how to make a potion" the creepy lady says. I followed her thinking of how hard it would be, would be as simple as mixing the ingredients like they do sometimes in movies, or would it be like an exact amount of this and that, and then stir for this long, and recite these words, mess up and it blows up. I sure hope not because I couldn't handle all that if that's how it would be, I was too...absent minded sometimes, and I either forget before or during, or id just mess up even knowing what to do. "Alright will do" I reply following her to wherever this room she was talking about was.

I followed the npc in silence for at least another 10 minutes , we went upstairs and then downstairs and then back up, left right and then left again. I was amazed at the size of the building as it didn't look this big outside, and it was rather scary. It reminded me of the tent from harry potter that was the size of a house inside it, but a normal tent outside. After a while though she finally stopped at a door "Here it is" she said opening the door for me to walk in. I was rather scared to walk in first, the lady was rather creepy herself, I didn't know how the room where she did her potion making would be, probably just as weird. But after a thought I decided to go in.

I looked around and was thankful at the sight, it was a bare room with black walls and nothing else aside from a single table which held some tubes, liquids and a couple of other things I had no idea what were. I walked all the way in allowing the npc to follow in. She walked over to the table and spoke. "The materials please" I walked over and handed her the materials. "These are the items you will need for a healing potion, there are of course other combinations, but you will always need something to mix the items with, and something to put them, such as a bottle in this case or a crystal when your more advanced" I listened intently, once again thankful that I could hopefully use more appealing mixtures.

The lady paused for a minute as she began to mess around with the ingredients, she put the bottle down and then squashed the newts eye into a beaker, mixing it with water. "Your ingredients must always be in a liquid form, so you must make them that way if they are not already" she explains as she begins to place the grounded feet in a beaker, filling it with a steaming liquid. The liquid I late found out was hot as it evaporated the grinded feet into the liquid making it a liquid as such. "Now you mix the liquids." She did so pouring one beaker into another, and stirring it with a metal stick thingy she had with her. "Once you are done you simply pour the mixture into the selected carrying device, bottle or crystal and your good to go."  I watched closely as she did all of this until she was finished.
