[PP-F1] Red Is A Confusing Color (Flints) - Complete~

Recommended Posts

Eliziana hadn't really spent much time playing the game since she got trapped here. She had been cooped up in an inn, just trying to pretend that the world didn't exist while teams of people cleared up to, what was it, the twelfth floor? The front lines were slowly getting farther and farther away from her little hiding place, and a part of her hoped that she could just stay this way forever. Away from the hustle and bustle of the game that could kill her.

But that was before she got bored, and the bright idea to go exploring into the forest. It wouldn't be so bad, all the mobs were passive, and she needed the fresh air. She'd just do some wandering around, look at the trees, remember home a little bit, and then head back to the inn to hide again. As she crunched along the leaves in the forest, she kept her ears open for any suspicious sounds, such as wolves or something, and had her dagger at the ready, just in case.

peace and quiet was a had thing to come by here in Aincrad, with all the guild work and new friends Flints realized she hadn't been alone for quite some time. The feeling of the gentle breeze through her hair, the warm rays of the sun that made their way through the thick branches, just enough to grace her face only briefly before retreating back to the sky. she sighed and felt herself begin to drift off, although anyone else would have preferred an inn Flints felt at home amongst the wilds of the world around her.

"wh-what is that noise?!" awoken from her slumber Flints flipped herself onto her belly, glancing down to the floor beneath her she watched as the floor came to life, she wasn't sure what was causing the sounds but now it was part of her problem. so much for rest. she moved silently from branch to branch, evenly distributing herself amongst each one so they wouldn't give away her position. Finally she saw the cause of the sounds, well partially. bright red hair flashed through the branches and she gave a small huff. "of course he would come searching for me even though its only been a few hours...silly little thing..he should know by now i would be in the trees...I'll teach him" without giving it a second thought Flints launched herself from the tree down to who she assumed was Endilix, weapon drawn she clashed into the person and held them down tightly to the ground, her battle axe inches from their face, but as soon as they collided she knew something was off, she hit them far too hard for it to ever be Endilix but ti was too late. she assumed maybe she just got stronger. her eyes locked onto the other person before it dawned on her that she was wrong. this wasn't Endilix.

Eliziana had been crunching along through the trees. She was listening intently for wolves, but admittedly hadn't been expecting the trees to rustle at all. By the time she heard movement behind her, it was too late, the blur came from the trees and suddenly Eliziana was on her back, a battle axe blade perilously close to her face. Eliziana couldn't help but let out a shriek as she struggled against the body on top of her. She fumbled for her dagger and ended up holding it backwards as she pressed the hilt of it against Flints' arm as she struggled. "What is this?! Who are you?!" she shouted in her panic, as she tried to focus on the woman enough to see that she was a green player. Is this a trap? Am I going to die? Leaving the city was so stupid! I knew it!

Flints didn't lift herself off of the woman, she starred at her bewildered, at least until the shock of the hard press of the hilt of the dagger into her arm brought her back to reality to which she hissed at the woman. "What are you doing, you're more likely to kill yourself like that than me.." she pressed a little harder onto her and scoffed. "My name is Flints..and you are..?" she decided it was best to not get off of her until she was sure that she wasn't dangerous, but at this rate Flints didn't think the woman was capable of hurting anything other than herself, and maybe the leaves. "I thought you were someone else..so next time maybe be a little more careful, some of us are trying to sleep here."

As the woman on top of her didn't seem to outright kill her, Eliziana tried to relax a bit, although her heart was still racing as she stared wide-eyed at her attacker. She kept a firm grip on her dagger and her hands pressed against Flints' arms as she managed to stammer out, "M-my name is... E-E-Eliziana..." Her mouth kinda gaped a bit as she was held down. Is she waiting for orange friends to show up? Why else would she be doing this? she mentally asked herself as she tried to control her breathing and calm her heart down before it jumped out of her throat. "I-I.... I was just walking through the forest... trying to remember home..." she muttered, as tears began to form in her eyes, as the thought of the fact that she was trapped in the game. And now I'm going to die! she freaked out internally, before saying, "Do... do you greet all your friends... like this?"

Flints eyes darted wildly between the girl and the backwards dagger before settling on the girl again as she spoke, she could feel her heart race and her body relax a little, she raised an eyebrow at the odd mixture of acceptance of the girl gave her. when tears began to well up in her eyes flints felt a growl rise within her. "Stop it. this isn't home that's for sure..unless you walk around home stabbing people with hilts that is." she slowly backed off of her and stood looking down at her before putting up her weapon. "Yes actually, that's how i greet most of them, sometimes i bite as well they don't seem to mind so much." she chuckled hoping that would keep the girl from bursting into tears again. the last thing Flints wanted to do was try to console someone she didn't know, she could hardly console those she did know. she shifted uncomfortably before looking back at her. "Im guessing you are new here. and by the looks of it you aren't liking it too much.."

Eliziana was a bit surprised that the woman had gotten off of her. Shakily she put her dagger back in its sheathe on her back as she looked up at her assailant. Finally, after she regained some of her composure, she sat up and looked up at the woman. "Well, I'm glad you didn't bite me..." she said as she held herself up on one arm. She held her other hand to her chest and tried her best to relax herself. She looked back down at the leaves, saying, "At home, there are a lot of forests. I used to walk around them sometimes. I've been in this game for a while and not once have I been in the forest. Figures that the first time I do it I get jumped on." She gave a sigh as she slowly made her way to her feet, and looked Flints up and down. She put her hands on her hips and said, "You don't exactly look like you're all that experienced either... that shirt also looks too big for you. Also, I never got your name."

Flints looked away from her as she spoke, "I wouldn't dream of it, i don't know where you came from! and that sounds nice, there's a lot more water than land where I live, well at least right where i live, though id have to say i fair well on both..." Flints eyes caught Eliziana's before letting out a snort in disapproval. she didn't understand what was happening but she didn't like it too much. when she mentioned Endilix's shirt she blushed brightly before growling at her again. "I lost my shirt in battle..and my name, is Flints." she decided sharing where the shirt came from was a bad idea but she began to walk off while talking. "This place isn't all that bad, you should explore it more often, but maybe with other people, you reaction time is terrible." Flints chuckled.

Eliziana listened to Flints before she started to walk off, and then she said, "H-hey, wait up!" She walked alongside Flints as she talked, holding her arm behind her as she talked. Is this what making friends with someone is like? They jump on me and then are nice to me? She kept her eyes on the leaves on the ground as she walked until Flints was done talking. Finally, she said, "I don't have any friends... I don't really know how to make them either..." She sighed and blushed a bit at the thought of what she had just said, "I've uh, just been hiding in an inn, and in the Town of Beginnings..." She started to fall a bit behind Flints. She wasn't actually sure why she was telling this person all of this. She should be running away. Finally, Eliziana just stopped walking and stared at Flints, wondering about her.

Flints kept her eyes forward, not worrying if she was following her or not, she listened to the girl explain her not having any friends. "Well i cant help you there because i'm just as bad..then again id prefer not to have any..i wanted to go this game alone, and not be tied to anyone but things have a funny way of working out for the better. call it fate if you'd like. and don't worry i had not really settled till recently, i just wondered around Aincrad and slept when i couldn't keep moving anymore. sometimes i think back on the fact that i did that and laughed, i was more likely to kill myself from stress than actually be killed in battle or by an enemy." Flints heard her footsteps stop and she reached for her weapon instinctual again and turned to face the woman again. "are you going anywhere specifically?" flints looked down at her feet before continuing. "you kind of woke me up so, i guess until i can find another place to sleep, you're stuck with me."

Eliziana continued to watch Flints until she stopped some distance away. As Flints grabbed her weapon, she began to sweat a bit and raised her hands defensively, but she didn't actually draw the weapon, so she placed a hand on her chest and tried to calm herself back down again. I've never been around so many dangerous objects. Even my own. This has really got me on edge. Eliziana thought about what Flints had said, and tried her best to think about the idea of making friends. The thought was a scary one. All she had ever really known was her online friends and her mother. And her mother's boyfriends. Eliziana gave a bit of a disgusted grunt at the thought, as she looked to Flints and said, "I don't really want to settle. Or get to know anyone. But I suppose I don't mind if you stick around. I just don't really want to die, which is why I never left the city in the first place." Finally, she sighed and said, "The only destination I had in mind was back to my little room in the inn."

Flints watched Eliziana as she placed her hand on her chest and flints mirrored her then cocked her head, she wondered what the gesture meant, maybe she was in some sort of pain she wondered if she too had been injured. Flints shook her head to dispel the thought before speaking again. "so you really plan on staying there until this death game is over? wouldn't you get restless? or at least curious? this is a very vast world, don't limit yourself to one place." flints giggled. "stay at all the inns in Aincrad! and if you want i can escort you back to town, its getting dark. but then again, i can just stay here and nap. your choice.." Flints couldn't help but be intrigued by the was she acted, she was so different compared to herself. from the way she spoke down to the way she held herself, she wasn't sure if she should feel sorry for her or let her go back in the wild and hope someone else would pick her up and take care for her, train her and then maybe release her as well. "I'm sure you'll make friends on accident, i did."  Flints began to think about Endilix and how she should probably be getting back to him.

Eliziana looked at the ground as Flints spoke, trying to process what she was saying. "Honestly, telling myself to leave the Town of Beginnings was a hard thing to do. Let alone going to another floor. Even if traveling between cities is safe thanks to the Teleport Gates. I suppose I could stay in a variety of inns, but some  get really expensive. I'd run out of Col!"

Eliziana looked up at Flints, a sadness in her eyes, "Honestly, I just want to go home. So badly that I left my safe place. And now here we are, accidentally making... friends?" Eliziana shrugged. She couldn't tell if Flints was just being nice to her because she was so flimsy or if she truly cared. Either way, she tried her best to smile, "I think I'd like an escort back to the Town of Beginnings. I wouldn't want to get hurt on the way back."

Flints kicked the ground beneath herself and started to wonder what she was going to do with Eliziana. "You could always start taking quests but with larger groups..or actually try to step out there on your own again." Flints winked at her before scoffing. "Maybe you can learn a trade and just make a living off of that? Anything to keep you busy. For now." Flints watched as she spoke about wanting to go home and she winced a little. "If you keep talking like that none of us will go home" she chuckled trying to make light of the situation. "Well okay, let's get going then, I'm comfortable in the dark here but I'm not sure if you are. We should get back to town quickly, now there's a place I don't trust." Flints began to change the path she took throught the forest, weaving her way back to where they started only to take Eliziana back to the City of Beginnings. She hadn't been there in a while and was starting to think about the groups of people there. She shook her head trying not to think about it as much and to focus on getting there in the least, they were quiet a ways away.

Eliziana trailed behind her escort as she thought about what Flints had said. 'A trade? But what would I do? I wasn't even good at anything in real life, and I don't like associating with people much...' she thought to herself as she watched Flints weave easily through the trees back towards the city. Perhaps it had been a blessing in disguise that she had been found by Flints. Now that Eliziana thought about it, she wasn't sure if she would've been able to find her way back home in the dark. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought. Or was that the wind? Eliziana shook her head and realized that she was starting to fall behind. She gasped and ran after Flints, before grabbing the back of her shirt by the hem. She was looking around and shivering, as her teeth chattered. "S-so... so I don't lose you," she said simply.

Flints could hear Eliziana in the distance, she slowed down only to feel a tug at the back of Endilix's, well now her tunic. She turned quickly and let out a low growl before dismissing the action and speaking. "I wouldn't want to have a shop, but I make my living off the land and undergoing quests...and guild stuff..if that interests you any." She smiled wickedly at the thought of secretly recruiting someone for Emerath, even though he probably wouldn't have picked Eliziana, Flints wasn't sure how to help her. Her idle rambling was more to herself than Eliziana she wasn't even sure if she would go for owning a shop or talking to the guild. But she felt like giving her some sort of go to was better than having her sit in town till the game was cleared.

"Why don't you walk Infront of me? You won't lose me if we are going at your pace. We are going to keep going straight for now I'll let you know if we have to change paths or anything." Flints gazed up at the sky and sighed. Even though the branches were too thick to fully show the now incoming stars and moon she could still make it out, the moonlight played in the open spaces of the leaves and greeted her skin, bathing her in a soft blue light. was beautiful. She hadn't realized how quickly the night had approached them but she wasn't worried. Not a lot of players stayed out at night, and since there was two people, wolves were less likely to try and challenge them, especially with the loud crunches from Eliziana leading the way. Flints mind kept wondering back to her mate, a little hurt that he hadn't actually come in search of her. "So, do you plan on staying alone in this game? Even if the opportunity arises? And no, I'm not talking about meeting..friends.." Flints blushed a little. It was an odd topic but she felt like idle chatter should make their trip less painful.

Eliziana really didn't like the idea of being in front, but she supposed with the way Flints was saying that she wouldn't move until Eliziana did. Eliziana let go of Flints' shirt and started to walk forward, occasionally glancing over at Flints behind her as Flints spoke. Eliziana's ears perked up at the mention of a guild, and she looked back at Flints as she walked, "A guild? Is it... safe there? Do you guys have an HQ that I could go.... uh..." 'Hide in?' she mentally finished the question. She might be able to deal with being around other players if it meant that she could be safe. Finally, after a pause she finished the question, "could go look at? I always love to see how people have decorated their houses in these types of games," she finished with a blush, as she covered up how she really felt.

"Who runs the guild? Are they nice people?" 'Will they protect me...?' She supposed that answered Flints' question about joining people if the opportunity arose, so she left the question there.

Flints smiled at the fact that at least one of the topics stuck. She continued to stare at the sky while she spoke. "It's still kind of small so it's pretty tight knit. Although I do admit I have been sort of a terrible guild member and have been M.I.A. But anyways, I'm sure they wouldn't mind meeting you, they are great people. The Dapper Rouges..sound a little contradicting but you'll guess why when you meet at least the brothers." Flints laughed at Eliziana's fleeting questions. "I want to own a home here eventually. That's a lot of money I'd gladly give up."

Eliziana sighed as she looked back at Flints and found her staring at the sky. She ended up looking at the sky and stars herself in response. "Brothers, huh? I suppose that's better than being alone, though I certainly wouldn't wish this on any of my family." She shook her head, thinking of how her mom always told her to stay away from these games. That they would one day be the death of her. She wiped away a tear and brought herself back to reality. She opened up her menu and went to the guild recruitment section, and looked up the name that she had said. "The Dapper Rogues..." she said, as she pushed the button that requested an invite to the guild. "Emerath and Endilix, I'm guessing those are the brothers. One is leader, one is second in command, so that would make sense..."

Eliziana closed her menu, and looked back at Flints again, "So how did you meet them?"

Flints looked back down at the sound of Eliziana flipping through her menu and finding the guild for herself. She cocked her head and realized how little she actually used her menu, she treated it as if it didn't exist. "Well I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. But then again..I wouldn't say I regretted my experiences, not matter how close to death I've come." Flints closed her eyes and hummed when asked how she came to meet the two.

"Well I guess we have some time to kill. When I first ventured out of the City of Beginnings I wanted to go everything alone. And I wanted to rank up as quickly as possible. I wanted to be the strongest. But I ran into another person while hunting, he was very shy and withdrawn. I think I made it worse, but also I ended up meeting Endilix.." Flints blushed and shifted a little uncomfortably. "And he convinced me not to be foolish and kill things on a whim. We ended up partying up a day or so later and I tried to fight him in a safe zone. And yes I knew I couldn't actually hurt him. I just wanted him to know I wasn't a frail woman who needed him to swoop in a save me. Although he never offered to. We got really close and I bugged him enough to allow me to meet his brother that he spoke fondly of. At first I didn't think Emerath was very fond of me, and upon meeting him I wasn't too fond of him either. We ended up fighting and we weren't in a safe zone, Emerath was a lot stronger than me and I pissed him off enough to make him activate a sword skill and hit me across the area we were in. I still have the scar and everything." Flints tugged on her shirt and revealed the light, flame like scar that sat neatly in the center of her chest, the once raised skin was now just a large lighter area that contrasted against her warm olive skin. "He felt really bad afterwards but to be honest we got really close...they are the only people I trust in this death game. And the only people willing enough to deal with my "friendly" disposition. And they are pretty darn cute as well"  She chuckled.
