An NPC with no name appears before you when you are adventuring. He challenges you to a friendly duel and promises magnificent rewards if you win. However, once you begin the duel, you realize that it is a duel to the death! His name appears and he is revealed to be the Gemini, and then he transforms into you. He has the same HP and skills as you. If you win the duel and kill the Gemini, you gain the skill of <<Concentration>> if you roll a 1-17 on your loot die at the end of the battle. This adds a +1 to the attack it is used for, but has a 5 turn cooldown period. If you roll and 18-20, you can the <<Disguise>> skill. It temporarily transforms you into the other enemy, giving you a +1 on your combat die and them a -1 on their next action. It only during your and his turn, and can only be used once every twelve turns.

Good luck Players!

Ebony had recently gotten a tip from Manta bout a very special quest located on the sixth floor. According to Manta she was supposed to wander around for a while and accept any duel requests she got. It was already sounding a bit fishy, but Ebony trusted Manta completely. As it happened, Manta was the only person that Ebony trusted completely, without a single doubt. They'd fought multiple bosses together, and that trust had built slowly but surely.

Nothing much seemed to be happening, and Ebony found herself walking around aimlessly, just as Manta had said to do. She grumpily sheathed and unsheathed her dagger, waiting for something exciting to happen. She was avoiding the mobs, maybe she wasn't supposed to? She really had no clue. The only thing she knew for sure was that Manta had said that this quest was necessary to become one of the strongest players.

Ebony glanced up from her pacing to see an NPC approaching. Maybe this was finally it. She sighed again and faced them. "Greetings young traveler. I would like to challenge you to a friendly duel. If you win you shall gain great rewards." The NPC stated in a friendly tone as a duel request popped up in front of her. Ebony pulled out a Damage Up potion she had received from Manta and drained it donw before pressing the accept button.

Ebony unsheathed her stilleto dagger, pointing it at the NPC, just as the NPC's appearance changed to mirror Ebony's. Ebony ignored it. She wasn't going to be tricked by this illusion, and it certainly wasn't going to keep her from defeating this NPC. She charged forwards, stabbing at the Gemini. The NPC dodged to the side and took a slash at her. Ebony ducked under it to continue her assault though.

Ebony slashed at the NPC as she passed by them, but missed by only a hairs breadth. She ducked under the counterattack and took a few steps back. She enjoyed fighting, but it had been so long since she had been right up there in the thick of the action. It was more than slightly disorientating, but it wouldn't be long before she got back into the groove of things and won the fight.

Ebony smiled, raising her dagger up and aiming it at her opponent. She rushed forwards, impaling herself on the enemies blade in order to activate a sword skill, <<Side Bite>>, and hit them from close range. Her blade glowed red and her dagger made two forward slashes, cutting two long cuts on either side of the Gemini's shoulders. Ebony leaped back off of the dagger and prepared to attack again. If only she could heal herself.

Ebony waited a couple of seconds before rushing forward again, dodging under her enemies blade and aiming a stab into the Gemini's stomach. The Gemini was too fast for that and leaped back, dodging the blow. They were pretty evenly matched, but Ebony obviously had the advantage thanks to the potion she had used earlier. It was only a matter of time before she defeated this NPC.

Ebony grinned and moved in again, swinging wildly in an attempt to overwhelm the NPC. Halfway through her flurry of feints she activated her sword skill, <<Side Bite>>, and sent two slashes at the enemy, one on each side of her cheek. Ebony retreated again and prepared to attempt the same strategy again. It had worked beautifully, and hopefully it wasnt too much to ask that she would be able to pull it off again.

Her blade whistled through the air as she swung a strike at her opponent. Their blades clashed noisily in the air, and Ebony retreated. It appeared that she would have to rethink her strategy. The NPC seemed to be learning, if only a little bit at a time. Still, it would be best to end this fight quickly and complete the quest. She wanted to be able to brag to Manta that she had done this by herself, with no help from anyone.

Ebony charged forwards, slipping to the side as Gemini stabbed at her. She wasnt fast enough and the blade sliced into her shoulder a bit. She continued forwards, activating the same skill she had been using, Side Bite. This time her blade stabbed twice incredibly quickly into the NPC's gut. The enhancement on her blade activated, paralysing them for a turn. Ebony smiled, sensing the end of the fight.

Ebony smirked and moved in on her paralysed enemy, sending two swift strikes into the Gemini's gut again, paralyzing them once more. This was too easy. The enemy was almost dead, in the red zone. If this was a friendly duel then it should be over by now. "Your in the red, is this duel over yet?" She asked, her dagger still raised. If it was a fight to the death she would give them that. She still wanted her rewards though.

Ebony sighed as the NPC didn't answer her. So it was a fight to the death. With her opponent paralyzed in front of her, Ebony stepped forwards, sending a single stab directly into the Gemini's gut, causing them to burst into blue and green crystals. A loot screen popped up and she hit accept without even looking at what she'd got. She had a lot to think about, mainly how she was able to kill a paralyzed enemy with almost no trouble.

The Gemini had been lying in front of her, helpless and at her mercy, and she'd just stabbed it through the gut with ease, not even pausing to consider it. She let out a sigh and sat down on the ground, crossing her legs. Was she a bad person? She didn't know. It was just an NPC after all, and she felt nothing for killing it. What would it be like to kill a player? Would she feel nothing then as well?

She truly had no idea. Maybe she would feel a mix of horror and regret, but at the moment she felt nothing no sorrow, no guilt. She certainly didn't want to kill any players, but she couldn't help being curious about how she would feel afterwards. Was she the sort of person who could do something like that and feel no remorse? She didn't want to keep thinking about this.

Ebony stood up and looked through her inventory. Nothing new. Ebony found herself a bit stumped. Maybe she wasn't supposed to have killed the NPC! Maybe she had made a mistake, and that treasure she had been promised had only been a couple of seconds away when she had ended their life. She felt a bit sick to her stomach and started to walk back to the city.

As she walked, it occurred to her that maybe the riches she had been promised were gifted in the form of some sort of skill. She opened up her menu and browsed around. She didn't have many skills, so she found the new one almost immediately. She let out a sigh of relief. She had done the right thing in killing the NPC, and had even gotten a reward for it. She let a small smile grace her lips.

She stopped walking and checked up on the skill and what it did. She read over it carefully before closing her menu. It was certainly a helpful skill, one that would prove necessary in her upcoming fights. She wondered if maybe Manta had this skill too before shaking her head. Of course she did, Manta had told her about this quest in the first place, meaning that she had been on it before.

Ebony started walking again, eager to show Manta her new skill. And that meant getting to the city and teleporting to the first floor. Manta's shop was only a few short minutes from there. She continued on, her legs starting to hurt a bit. She had been walking around before this quest after all, and she didn;t have any sort of athletics or endurance skill to help her out like some people she knew.

Thinking about mobility skills got her thinking more about skills in general. She was extremely close to ranking her healing up again, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to bring her sword skills or damage mitigation up first. She had briefly thought about it before, before fighting the Queen Bee boss on floor two. She had decided not to ask Manta for her opinion then though. Still, the time was rapidly approaching when she would need to spend those skill points.
