[SP-F3]<<Worn out Welcome>> Zandra in need of new armour, wait what?

Recommended Posts

Zandra was working in her shop, at the moment brewing some potions that would increase a persons defence. She have been boiling some water and waited for it to be the perfect temprature to absorb the effect of the ingredients as good as possible. That way she would have biiger chance to succed with a perfect one. She took a boar tail and placed it on the workbench in front of her. Then she took a knife she was using while crafting. She glanced at the dagger that was on the wall above her fireplace. It was the dagger she used in combat before changing to using whip. Looking at the dagger always filled her with new hope. She turned her attention back to the tail.

Her knife cutted stripe after stripe on the tail, making it into smaller and smaller pieces. When not a single one was bigger she poured it down into the water. She looked thru her shelfs until she found the right flask. It was a pretty big flask with a wide opening. This was so she could fit her hand in it and pick up the dry light blue leafs from the bottom. She took one that seemed to be good and crushed it into a fine powder between her hands above the pot. After a few seconds she had crushed the whole leaf and beushed of the last dust by hitting the hands on each. Then she reached for a box and placed it on the workbench beside the pot.

She carefully opened the box. Inside there was a powder. Its was as fine as wheat-flour but with a deep red colour, almost like blood. She took a tine part of it by pressing the tip of her thumb and point finger towads each other. Then she moved her hand over the pot and dropped it in the liquid that have turned blue from the leafs. She took a spoon and twirled in the pot, making the different mixing and reacting with each other. After a few minutes of twirling it have got a purple colour.''There we go, done.'' she said proudly, pouring it up in a bottle. She let the bottle cool of for half a minute or so before she took a sip.

She took the bottle towards its nose, making a waving move with her hand above the opening to make the air moving the smell into her nose. It wasnt anything wrong with the smell. So she moved it further towards her lips. She moved the bottle upwards until a few drips dropped on her tongue. For a few seconds she stood there, trying to find out what it tasted like. After those seconds her eyes turned wide open, she dropped the bottle that exploded into pixels when hitting the floor. Both her hands flew up to cover her mouth. She turned on the spot and towards the door. She opened the door with one of her hands and rushed outside.

Outside she rushed to closest snowpile. There she lets some of the food she ate for lunch flying out of her mouth, coloring the white snow more like yellow. She walked back inside, wipeing her mouth on the backside of her right hand.''Shut it.'' She said to Zita, her golden eagle that have been sitting quietly on one of the shelfs, looking at her during the whole crafting process.''Well, it isnt giving any increase in defence, but it could be useful if you could make your enemy drink it,'' then they would puke and be vulneraable to your attacks, since it was drawing focus from you to another action it needed to do.

Zandra took the paper where she had written down all the ingredients she had used as well as a detailed description on every step she had been going thru to complete the potion she just dropped. She then took it and putted it into a book. On the books cover it stood: Failed attempts that have turned out as a success. This maybe was a pretty gross recipie to put in there. But she could just looke at it for a few seconds to rember the effect of it next time she opens the book. It probably gonna take a long time until she takes out that paper and use it. This fate she didnt even want her worst enemies to experience.

Zandra did like her heavy armour that Oikawa once made for her, she realy do. But after all this time she wanted something that was a little more, how to say, agility looking. She wasnt a tank, so why wuld she look like one. Thou she needed to save her money in case the rumor scout would appear. And her materials all was going away to her crafting so she cant buy with that either. Thou she have herd about a quest that is giving you a free set of armour. Thou its only the lowest quality of armour. But she could always ask someone to accompany her on the essence of steel quest, then she gonna be able to upgrade it, only do the quest two times and she would have another piece of perfect armour.

Well, first she have to complete the worn out welcome quest on floor three. And it wouldnt be completed if she was just standing her, time was ticking. Nobody knew if Kayaba had said the truth, maybe they sooner or later all gonna be struck by something like the commando /kill that exist in many MMO's. Hopefully she would enjoy her time spending here until that time. She equiped her town clothing and headed out. Her leather boots make footprints in the snow. After a few minutes she had walked the way from her place to the teleportation plaza. That way she had been going alot of times by now. By several different reasons, but this time it was to do a solo quest.

Zandra arrived at floor three. It was here she killed all those elfes back then, and with help of Macradon she took down an elder as well. She have realy been doing alot of things since back then. Her thougthts wandered away when she started to think of all adventures she have been thru up to this point. She had spent many hours material farming, but she had also spent many hours hanging around with nice peoples like Jomei, Mac, Kalesh, Ariel and several more she just didnt rembered at the moment. She just stood on the spot, looking at the sky and the flying clouds. This was, even when they was trapped here and maybe was gonna die, a winderful place.

Zandra snapped out of her daydreaming. She opened her inventory and picked forth the guide book, made by beta testers and information brokers. There she looked up the quest she was gonna do. She didnt remebered the name so she checked all quests on floor three. It seemed this quest was named <<Worn out welcome>>. And to start with she needed to find a blacksmith named Griswold and his wife Hannah. She looked around, hoped to see a blacksmith nearby, or the blackmisth himself, that would save her the time to search for the shop. But she wasnt that lucky. So she started to walk down a street, keeping an eye out so she wont pass the blacksmith in question without seeing it.

It took her almost twenty minutes to find the right blacksmith. She did found a few other blacksmiths before coming to the right one. She succesfully found he right one after asking at the other blacksmiths until she met one that knew where Griswold had his smithy. When she entered the building she saw both Griswold and Hannah was present.''Hi there Griswold!'' the NPC stoppped hammering on a white glowing ironpiece he was holding with a glove covered hand on an anvil.''Hi there traveler. Are you here to buy something I dont have anything for sale at the moment.'' Zandra got surprised by the NPC saying this to her, the quest description said otherwise.

''Im not here to buy anything, but I wonder if there is any possibility to place an order?'' the NPC's face expresion changed from irritated to welcoming.''Oh, if thats the case, I might have what you want. At the moment Im out of crafting materials.'' Then what was it he was hammering at? Zandra tohugth to herself.''But if you go out gathering the materials Im after I can make the armour for you for free.'' A screen poped up in front of Zandra. She pressed accept because it was the quest accepting window that have poped up.''Good then. The material I need is dropped from a dark elf in the forest of wavering mist. Good luck.''

Zandra turned around and exited the Couples shop. So forest of wavering mist was her next destiation. And there she was just gonna need to kill a dark elf to get what she needed for getting her armour done by the master blacksith Griswold. She felt a little excited. It was some time ago since she was on a solo quest, unless those tiresome earning a living quests to get more materials for her alchemy crafting. After the new update it went even worse, since the price on crystals had increased to double the amount of materials needed. Two materials instead of one. It was kinda weird, since it took only one material to craft an entire armour. Well, well, its not she that had designed the system.

When Zandra exited the town she saw a shadow on the ground made by something blocking of the sunbeams. When she looked up she saw the shape of a great eagle. She recognized Zita, her golden eagle familiar.''Heya Zita, perfect timing.'' The winged familiar circled down and landed on Zandras shoulder. Zandra patted her on the head.''Hi there, have you been having a good time? I have a mission for you.'' The eagle looked at Zandra with its wise eyes open, fixed on Zandras.''Im on a mission to find a dark elf, its probably easier to spot it from above, so can you fly high and see if you can spot the elf?''

The eagle let out a cry like saying 'mission accepted'. Then she opened it big wings and after some powerful flutterings the lifted and was ten meters up in the air in just a few seconds. Zandra continued to walk, following the eagle as good as she could. It only took her half an hour until she herd Zita letting out another cry. Zandra started to rush towards the sound, while she was running she realised she didnt had her armour equiped. With her left hand she equiped her armour of the northern ice-dragon, she was wearing the harbringer necklace and in her hand she held her untested chain whip, the 'Holy Riata'.

When Zandra spotted the elf she started to charge up her second powerfulest sword art, named 'Uppercut'. She held a tight grip of the handle and started to spin the top three decimeters of the whip in small circle. After a few laps she let out a little more so the circles was bigger. Then she let the tip of the chain whip, consisting of a spikey cross, flying in a huge circle, approaching the elf from under him. The dark elf had herd Zandra and turned around, but it was too late, the tip of the chain-whip hitted it so hard on the cheek, it sent the elf flying up high in the air. And right in the air it exploded, looking like fireworks, into hundreds of pixels.

The reward screen, that Zandra have been so used to after all her material farms poped up. Usualy it just says a number of normal materials. But this time she got another thing as well.' Material Griswold need to complete Zandras armour' was standing under the regular material she had gotten as well. So, now when she had the material she needed, it was time to head back home to town.''Zita! Time to head back, can you show the way?'' another cry was herd, sound like the eagle confirmed that she was gonna guide her owner out of the forest and back to town. In situations like these, Zandra was glad she had chosen a familiar with treasure hunter enhancement more then a battle related one.

It didnt took long before the human and the eagle was back in town again. When they was back Zandra said to Zita that she could fly away and play if she wanted to. But the familiar decided to land on her shoulder and keep a look on the surrondings. She realised it actually was a pretty long time since she spent any quality time with her familiar. It went faster to find the way to Griswolds blacksmith shop this time, because know she knew where the shop was located. When she opened the door it seemed Zita didnt wanted to come with her inside. Becuase she left Zandras shoulder and landed on a roof top just a few meters away.

''Well, do as you want Zita. But I'll see you soon 'kay?'' she said to the familiar she spent a long time together with Kalesh to find. But she havent regreted that journey a single time since. Very well, Zandra entered the shop where she saw Griswold still working on the same piece if iron. When he herd the door opene he looked up. It seemed like he rembered her face, weird for a NPC to do that? Well, maybe not.''So, do you have the materials I need?'' he asked with a deep voice. Zandra picked up the required material from her inventory and reached it over to the male blacksmith.''Here you go Griswold, it was kind of a piece of cake to get it. That elf was just a piece of trash.''

Griswold took the piece of material and started to work on it with his hammer. It going up and down, up and down. Zandra walked to a nearby chair that was standing at a table. She sat down and waited for the blacksmith to complete his work. Zandra thougth it was strange that she havent needed to tell him how it would look neither what enhancments it should have, not even if it would be heavy or light. Well, the nrevegear they weared probably read their minds, and on that way the NPC knows everything they think of. That was actually a little scary. Wouldnt the mobs know and predict their attacks then? After ten minutes Griswold was done and stretched over the completed armour to Zandra.''Her you go girl.''
